Chapter 5 - 4 - Ten Years Later

"Are you sure you want to start training right away? You still have time, Caliste! You don't have to rush into things," Ava muttered, worried that her son might get hurt while training with the sword.

Caliste had now reached the age of ten.

Ten years growing up in a demonic household, and honestly, it had been the best ten years of his life.

Everyone was so caring, loving, and helpful. It was unlike anything he had experienced before, growing up in an orphanage, abandoned at a young age, forced to survive by killing in the streets.

This life was the complete opposite.

"No. I've spent enough time idling around with Aleia and you. I need to start gathering strength of my own."

"What about your corrupted mana circuit? What if things get even worse?"

Caliste shook his head.

Over the past years, he had obtained so much vitality that the curse's effect had diminished greatly over time.

"I'm fine. Nothing is going to happen."

Ava shook her head. "Still... training with your sister, are you sure that's the best idea? You know how she is..."

Caliste looked into his mother's loving gaze and decided to reassure her once and for all.

"Don't worry, Mom. Everything will be fine; it's just some light sparring. It's not like Aleia will try to kill me."

Ava nodded slowly as she gave her son a nice, tight hug.

Over the past years, Caliste had grown into quite the beautiful demon. His hair was dark brown, and his eyes were a pearly blue. Strangely, there was still no sign of demonic horns appearing.

"Do you want some milk before you go, son?" Ava asked as she began pulling on her tight dress.

"Ah... not today, Mom! Maybe some other time!"

It was no longer weird for Caliste to be breastfed at any given time. Everyone who lived within the Demon King's Castle knew of this strange behavior from the new demon prince, but none of them dared to comment on it.

"Mhm... you don't even want your mother's milk anymore. You've grown so fast, Caliste. I hope you don't forget about your mom!"

Caliste giggled a little as he began walking away toward the training grounds where Aleia had been patiently waiting.

On the way there, Caliste glanced at his status, trying to realize just how absolutely crazy those stats looked.

[Caliste Henry]

[Curses]

[Corrupted Mana Circuit: Your body is greatly weakened. Your stats are reduced by 80%. Your dick is also unable to become hard.]

He just smiled while looking at it.

He wasn't sure why the demonic system had taken such a strange path where most of his skills seemed to be related to women. But Caliste honestly didn't hate it at all.

It was the complete opposite; he loved it.

This life was already much better than the one he had experienced as a hero.

There was no pressure on him. He could do whatever he wanted, and no one would say anything about it.

There were two things that annoyed him greatly.

The fact that he had not yet seen the Demon King whatsoever. And there was also the fact that while Caliste lived inside the main castle, he could see how people loathed both him and his mother, almost hating them.

'I'm not sure why such a thing is happening, but I will protect my family no matter what,' Caliste thought.

His mother and Aleia had been the only ones to ever help him.

They were the ones who had given him all the love in the world, pushing him to keep striving.

'I'll just have to use that technique to get rid of the corrupted mana circuits...'

Caliste shook his head just thinking about it.

He had waited for more than ten years to decide whether to use this technique to completely heal his mana circuits. However, soon enough, he would no longer have a choice.

In only a few days, when his 11th birthday would come around, it would be time for Caliste to awaken his affinity—something that every being has to go through.

However, if Caliste's mana circuits were still blocked and corrupted by then, it would mean that he would be delayed compared to his peers.

The other reason he delayed the use of this technique was because of the nature of the technique.

It was not a demonic technique.

It would be a technique that any demon within kilometers would be able to sense in a second.

That's why it was extremely dangerous and risky for Caliste to use such a thing inside a Demon's Den.

But then, as all kinds of worries began filling his mind, his sister brought him back to reality.

"Caliste! Why are you looking so sad?" she said with a big smile. "It's your first day of training! The best day of your life!"

Ever since that night with Aleia, Caliste had been much closer to her. She was also a person that Caliste repeatedly breastfed, even now at his age.

It had become totally normal for them to do so.

After all, Aleia's milk was three times more efficient than his mom's. The choice was quickly made. Aleia was also much younger, only around 25 years old, which is extremely young for a demon.

Most are in the thousands of years.

"Come on. Pick up a sword! I need to get a grasp of your abilities."

Caliste nodded silently and walked over to the weapons stand where he picked up a sword. However, as he did so, he almost couldn't lift it.

It was far too heavy for his weak body.

After all, his Strength stat was basically still at 1 with the curse inside him. Caliste still had the strength of a baby, and his body was so frail that one wrong move could badly hurt him.

"Uh... is it fine if we fight without weapons, sis?"

Aleia looked at her brother with pity in her eyes and quickly accepted, not wanting to humiliate him any further.
