The Fallen Hero Reincarnates as the Demon King's Son-Chapter 6 - 5 - Battle Genius
Chapter 6 - 5 - Battle Genius
Caliste stood before his sister without any weapons in his hands. After all, most of them were far too easy for him to even lift.
All that was because of the curse he had been born with—a curse that had significantly hindered his growth. He couldn't even use mana because of it, an energy that was essential to becoming more powerful.
"I'll let you attack first," Aleia said with a little smirk at the corner of her lips.
She knew that she was much stronger than her brother. She only wanted to see how he would face her. Aleia wanted to assess his fighting abilities.
However, she quickly realized that Caliste's body would be a significant problem. They needed to get rid of the curse, and fast.
There was also the fact that his third leg was completely useless. It frustrated Caliste greatly and he wanted it to get fixed quickly. At the very least, before he turned 18.
But even after ten years, they hadn't found any way to do so.
'My poor little brother...' Aleia thought as she wanted to hug her cute little brother right now.
She could see him struggling to run in her direction. Still, it was already impressive that he was able to move with corrupted mana circuits.
His willpower was on a completely different level.
Caliste tried to land a punch, but it was very slow and was dodged almost instantly without the slightest problem.
"Nice try, little brother," Aleia said as she caressed her brother's head while dodging.
Caliste, however, frowned. 'This is annoying. If I had my past body, I would have completely overwhelmed her instantly. But this one is useless; I can barely use it.'
Caliste shook his head, more determined than ever to use his secret technique to get rid of it.
He knew the risks, which was why, even now, he was hesitating.
'The best option would be to find a way to leave the Demon King's Castle... but that seems impossible.'
"It's my turn now. Get ready!" Aleia announced loudly.
Caliste heard her and immediately gave her his full attention.
Aleia dashed forward, clearly going easy on her little brother. She pushed her right palm forward toward her brother's chest, who hadn't had time to react, getting hit by the palm.
However, as Caliste fell on his back, Aleia suddenly frowned.
'Did I just imagine what I saw?' she thought as she replayed the scene in her mind.
Right as she launched her strike, Caliste's hips had shifted, preparing to dodge her attack. Because of his physical abilities, he had been hit. But if his body had been stronger, he would have dodged her attack without a doubt.
'He reacted to that?' Aleia frowned as she wanted to get a better idea of Caliste's abilities.
"Are you okay for another round, little brother?" she asked, wanting to be sure she hadn't imagined what she had seen.
Caliste, who was on the ground, completely out of breath, nodded. "I-I think so."
A few moments later, they were both facing each other. However, this time, Aleia gave Caliste different directives.
"I will be the one attacking. I want you to focus on defending against me."
Caliste nodded. "Okay, sis!"
Aleia took a deep breath and dashed forward.
This time, she started slower than before, giving Caliste time to react.
Then, as she arrived within range, she pushed her palm forward a little slower than before.
Aleia focused on Caliste's hips, which this time had moved even before she had attacked.

'Did he guess what I would do based on my micro movements?' Aleia frowned. 'But that should only be possible for people who have been through countless battles. He's only ten years old...'
"Nice dodge!" Aleia said, flashing a smile.
'Let's try to go faster,' Aleia thought as she accelerated her movements slightly.
But then, the same thing happened; Caliste reacted to her attack even before she had launched it.
"How are you doing this?" she suddenly asked.
"Doing what?"
Caliste was completely clueless about everything going through his sister's mind. All of his movements were based on the years of battle he had gone through. It was pure instinct; he didn't do anything on purpose.
"You're able to react to my attacks even before I attack you. How are you doing it?"
Caliste shrugged. "I can see what you're going to do by looking at your feet. Your right foot always moves forward slightly before you launch an attack."
Aleia's eyes widened.
'What kind of ten-year-old child looks at someone's feet to react to an attack? That's not something you are supposed to do on your own.'
Aleia couldn't believe it, shaking her head slightly.
'Is he a battle genius?'
After all, if his physical abilities were better, it would be a lot harder for her to win against her little brother.
'I need to talk with mother about it... maybe contact father. He could potentially remove the curse from him...'
"Let's stop here," Aleia suddenly said, surprising Caliste.
"Why? Did something happen?"
Aleia shook her head. "No, you did great, little brother. Much better than I expected. I just need to go and talk a little with Mom."
Caliste found it strange but nodded as he saw his sister leave with a very serious gaze. It was the first time that Caliste had seen Aleia look so anxious and confused.
She was usually extremely cheerful around him.
'Were my movements really that impressive?' Caliste suddenly thought. 'Or maybe it's related to the Awakening Ceremony next week.'
Caliste wasn't sure as he also began heading back toward the castle.

In the meantime, Aleia had already entered Ava's room.
"Mom! We need to do something about Caliste. He has talent; we just have to get rid of his corrupted mana circuits."
Ava, who had been patiently waiting for her boy to come back, was surprised to see Aleia so pumped up.
"Why? What happened?"
"Caliste is a battle genius! It's just that his body cannot keep up with his talent. We need to contact Father! I'm sure he can cure his corrupted mana circuits."
Ava frowned. "You know better than anyone that this isn't an option. Your father is not someone who will help us out of the goodness of his heart. If anything, he might ask for something in exchange that we cannot afford."
Aleia knew, however, she stood frozen there... unsure what to say to convince her mother.
