The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard-Chapter 2302: Why Are the Visiting Delegation All Monks and Taoists?
"Roth, are you out here alone, without escorts?"
Selric Roth answered, "I’ll bring a guard. Who wouldn’t, especially since I’m an Immortal Cultivation failure, stuck at the Hollow Void Stage without progress? My guard is stronger than me, but still, if trouble arises, it’s good enough if he can help me escape."
Carson Flores understood even though Selric Roth didn’t explain everything.
Perhaps Selric Roth believed his group was strong enough, so he took the initiative to make connections. His aim was that, in case of difficulties during the journey, someone might lend a hand. That’s what he meant by ’more friends, more paths.’
Carson Flores didn’t mind this approach; after all, there’s no unreasonable hatred, nor unreasonable love.
Who wouldn’t want to learn about North Sea’s situation through Selric Roth?
While the group was chatting, a thunderous beast roar suddenly came from the sky.
Carson Flores turned his head, looking out through the large window, and saw a vast procession appearing in the sky, rapidly approaching.
Nine Azure Sacred Beasts were pulling a most luxurious chariot, flying smoothly and swiftly. Around the chariot were numerous women dressed as maidens, riding the wind around it.
Surrounding the chariot were many knights riding flying lions. These knights were uniformly dressed, exuding immensely powerful aura, indicative of their strength. They seemed to be escorts for the chariot’s occupant.
The roars came from the pulling Azure Sacred Beasts, who were breathing heavily and swiftly pulling the chariot, soon reaching above Hailing City.
The chariot halted in front of Carson Flores and the others, then descended toward the city.
"Huh, looks like they are heading for this inn?"
Selric Roth, seemingly used to this, chuckled, "This is the best inn in Hailing City. Judging by their display, they are obviously extraordinary people. If they’re staying overnight, they’re likely to check in here. Running into someone impressive here is quite normal."
Carson Flores scanned over everyone, pondering aloud, "There are no insignias of any power."
"Perhaps they’re deliberately concealed."
Selric Roth explained with a smile, "Not everyone traveling likes to declare their identity. Revealing one’s identity can reduce certain troubles, but it can also bring many unknown issues."
By now, the whole procession had landed in the spacious courtyard of the inn. The Azure Sacred Beasts were led to the demonic beasts’ shelter, and a young woman stepped down from the chariot.
She was draped in a gauzy dress, her face veiled with white silk. The silk seemed to have a Concealment Spell, offering a faint view but unclear, like a flower in the mist. Yet, it was certain—she was a great beauty.
Her figure, her aura, her facial structure—saying she isn’t a beauty would be surprising.
The maidens quickly accompanied the gauzy-dressed woman into a private courtyard, while the escorting guards dispersed, securing the entire area with such expertise that even a fly couldn’t get through.
"This looks like a noble lady traveling; those guards each appear strong and fierce. Even the maidens are not weak, but the most formidable should be the head guard..."
Selric Roth withdrew his gaze, chuckling, "In Hailing City, except for locals conducting business, most are here to sail to North Sea. With the Ocean King setting sail tomorrow, perhaps these people are passengers on it."
Carson Flores casually asked, "How many people can the Ocean King accommodate?"
Selric Roth smiled, "About two thousand passengers. Including the crew, guards, and numerous service personnel, the entire ship carries at least three to four thousand."
While the group chatted, another giant ship suddenly appeared in the sky, hovering above the city. Guards emerged from the ship, forming orderly ranks.
Next, a large crowd of people appeared, surrounded and protected by all the guards, heading toward the inn below.
"Monks, Taoists?"
Carson Flores observed the group surrounded by guards with a hint of surprise.
Selric Roth answered, "They might be the envoy I mentioned. It’s because of their journey that the Ocean King is setting sail, allowing us to tag along. Otherwise, we’d have to settle for Grade A ships and endure the wait."
Selah Ellison asked curiously, "An envoy, why are they all monks and Taoists?"
Selric Roth laughed, "Perhaps it’s related to religious affairs. Despite the multitude of sects in Eastern Radiance, only Dharma, Fiction, and Dragon Mountain Sect truly flourish. The Sea Tribe mostly resides in North Sea and reveres the Sea God Sect. There are often exchanges and competitions between the sects."
Carson Flores observed closely—the bald ones were clearly Dharma, but the rest, in Taoist robes and hairpins, seemed divided into two outfits: green robes and black robes, presumably Fiction and Dragon Mountain Sect.
Carson Flores smiled, "Looks like there are quite a few distinguished guests on this voyage."
