The night of Violet’s birthday was the worst night of Riley’s life. He lost everything, his job, his sponsors, his home, and most of all his dignity. Everything was that little bitch’s fault. She was responsible for everything that’s happened to him.
His own grandmother had broken all the bones in his hands. She broke all of his ribs. It had taken him a month to heal. He still wasn’t the same standard before.
Everyone saw him naked; he had been completely exposed to every important vampire and even some worthless humans and disgusting dogs. He was utterly humiliated. He’s had to hide out in some shitty, beat-up, run-down factory after escaping his grandmother’s prison.
He wouldn’t let this go; he’d get his revenge on that bitch.
He’d take her and hold her captive. Humiliate her. Take her in every which way he pleased. He would ruin her, the way his grandmother tried to ruin him.
His mouth was watering at the idea of having her soft plump breast in his grips again. The taste of her sweet blood in his mouth. How tight her pussy would be gripping his dick. He missed every part of her body. And when he get’s his revenge, she’ll belong only to him and only him.
He heard she was pregnant and about the upcoming coronation. How Ash would take his place beside Violet as king. And Riley couldn’t stand it. Couldn’t stand Ash having thing that was supposed to be his.
He planned every detail, he had been watching from the shadows, every change in guard shift, every entrance and exit. He already knew the inside; he grew up there. Getting would be easy, it’s the getting out part that would be hard. He didn’t have access to the same things he did before, he’s been cut off from all the privileges of being a night citizen and a royal one at that.
He’d figure out way, even if it was the last thing he’ll do.
When the night of the coronation did arrive, it was a crystal clear and beautiful night.
The perfect night to take back everything that had been stolen.
Hidden among the many stone statues, Riley watched them he brother who took his woman and his throne.
"Tonight, you are a ghost," he told himself.
Riley had grown up here. He knew the hidden staircases, the secret gardens, the servant passages, every crook and cranny he knew, many girls he fucked in the palace during summers.
Even after his Grandmother’s announced his banishment, even after the beatings and the months locked away in that crumbling tower, he still remembered the palace like he was there yesterday. Every corridor. Every shadow. Every door that would stick when pulled too hard.
His brother, Ash, had the crown now, the coronation crown, gleaming on his head like stolen fire. The courtiers had knelt; the trumpets had blared. Ash smiled, his world was with Violet standing at his side, radiant and graceful. It irked him to see them both so happy.
Violet.
His Violet.
He tasted her name like poison on his tongue.
How easily they had cast him aside. How quickly they had forgotten.
Riley flexed his hand, feeling the old scars on his knuckles, remembering the night it all shattered, the way Grandmother broken so many bones.
"Monster," she had called him.
"You will rot."
Now he would have her again. He would have everything that was his by right.
Riley shifted deeper into the shadows as a group of guards passed. He entered through the gate beneath the kitchens, slipping past the distracted workers, during the fireworks. The coronation had turned the entire palace into a parade of blind, drunk, idiots.
No one had noticed the banished prince coming home.
He moved through the corridors like he was invisible, avoiding the brightly lit halls. He skirted past a couple of drunken lords arguing over titles, down into the servant passages that led straight behind the throne room.
He would take her at the right moment.
When she was alone. When no one would hear.
He had waited so long. He could wait a little longer.
Violet laughed lightly at something Ash said, her voice lost under the beat of the music.
Riley gritted his teeth. She looked beautiful, more beautiful than he remembered, and it stung like a blade in his ribs. Every smile she gave his brother was another reason to take the girl and kill the bastard.
The way she smiled at Ash.
She’s never smiled at him like that.
No.
She had flinched from his touch. And it only enraged him further. remembering that being angry means making a mistake, and tonight, he couldn’t afford any mistakes.
He needed to separate her from the crowd. The gardens would be best. He had prepared a car, hidden beyond the wall. If he moved quickly, she would be gone before anyone realized.
Riley ducked into another passage. This one leading toward the back of the ballroom. His heartbeat drummed in his ears. He could almost feel the touch of her beneath his fingers, smell of her perfume.
Opportunity came faster than he expected.
Riley moved.
The servants’ doors were currently unguarded. Riley slipped through, unseen, moving next to her in silence. She was completely unaware of his presence.
He reached out and seized her wrist.
She gasped, stumbling sideways.
He clamped a hand over her mouth.
"Shhh," he whispered against her ear. "Open your mouth and I’ll kill your baby."
She struggled, wild and terrified, but he was ready. His grip tightened, forcing her back into the hidden corridor. The sounds of the ballroom swallowed every sound she made.
He dragged her down the servant hall, deeper into the palace. The smell of dust and stone closed around them. Violet twisted against him, her eyes burning tears. She tried to scream, but his hand stayed firm.
"You don’t understand," he hissed. "You were supposed to be mine. You belong to me."
Tears spilled down her cheeks, but she fought him with every ounce of strength she had.
Riley hated that fire. He loved how little she used to fight against him. how fearful she was of him. He couldn’t wait to tame it again.
His little mouse.
He shoved her through a hidden door. The world beyond was silent, unaware of just taken place. Dragging her to the back gate and kicked it open. There it was, the car he had waiting.
Violet struggled harder now, sensing freedom slipping away. She bit his hand, and Riley cursed, slamming her against the stone wall. She stared at him, trembling.
"You belong to me," Riley growled "You always have." He tried shoving her in the car.
Suddenly something changed in Violet. It was like she was losing control of her body.
By the time she realized what was happening to her.
By the time Riley realized anything, it was too late.
Violet’s eyes changed from their usual tender pink to a blazing crimson color. A twisted grin appeared on her face.
"You will never touch her again." It was Violet’s voice, only it wasn’t there was an echo coming from deep within her.
Her body jerked in a fluid motion; a blinding white light appeared in place of the crimson her eyes just were.
White flames rapidly engulfed her body. She lifted off the ground. Her hair turned white, it was Violet’s body was no longer hers, but it belonged to something else, something more ethereal and divine.
She glared down at Riley was stunned frozen where he stood. Enthralled by the power that radiated off her. She looked like a goddess in the flesh.
The crowd must have seen the bright light that illuminated the garden. Drawn to the light, the party attendees followed. Ash noticed Violet was gone. He began to search for her. Letting himself be drawn to her, he started running through the crowd. Something was wrong, he could feel it in his bones. Fear and anxiety rising in him, which only fueled him to run faster, move quicker.
Reaching the front of the crowd he stood frozen at the sight laid out before him.
Violet floated above the ground, like a mystical being from another world.
It was Violet, but she didn’t look like Violet. She was a flaming being of pure white.
She raised her arms, the wrath and fury building inside her.
The hair on everyone’s body stood up. The air felt charged and thick with power. The guests stood in awe at their newly crown queen. A being made of pure light.
And then it happened.
And no one saw it coming.
Violet released a blast of power creating an intense wave knocking everyone down. Even Lilith, the Queen of the Damned, fell flat on her ass from the sheer force of Violet’s blast.
Violet pointed at Riley. Fire danced on her finger, like a familiar friend. Comfortable and protective.
White zaps of electricity started sparking from her hands. The air crackled with energy. Every holding their breath waiting to see what would happen next.
Ash stood wide eyed in awe at the incredible sight unfolding in front of him.
Violent bolts of electrical energy shot from her fingers, directly into Riley, his body was sent immediately into uncontrollable spasms. Fiercely thrashing and convulsing on the ground. Screams of complete and utter agony ripped from Riley’s chest as his flesh caught fire, smothering him in a blanket of white fire. His skin started to peel of his bones and muscle melted into nothing.
The pain was unimaginable. The sight was horrific even for those with a strong stomach. The smell of his rotting, burning flesh was so pungent it forced some guest to throw up the contents of their stomachs.
When the screams finally stopped. Violet began lowering to the ground. Ash stepped up and cautiously walked over to Violet.
Violet who stood cloaked in a holy white light. Stared off in the distance as if lost in a world outside her own body.
And then the light that captured Violet’s body faded and she collapsed.
