Chapter 98: so it begins

When Violet entered the room, Violet’s senses were assaulted by the smells of different foods and baked goods.

She walked with the Alpha on her arm into a room full of wolves. Of people who want nothing more than to tear a vampire apart. Could they sense she was one under her human smell?

Her mind was in a whirlwind as she took in her surroundings. The room was large with beautifully granite floors. The walls were lined with tall windows, large pillars lined up with windows, supporting the glass room.

She gazed up at the stars, seeing a clear sky and the light of the moon, tonight she should be in the moon room with her beloveds, but she was instead trapped in a room full of enemies.

Her steps slow and graceful, she was so light footed she almost floated across the floor. All the eyes narrowed, and the dancing stopped to stare as the woman with one of their Alpha’s walked in glued to his arm.

That’s when Ursula spotted Violet as the crowd parted like moses did the sea. Ursula looked around not having seen Beta Atlas, she rushed over to her, almost tripping over her beautiful green dress, because of how tight the dress stuck to her thighs.

Violet saw Ursula and immediately tried to let go of Alpha Micheals arm, but he growled and whispered "Don’t embarrass me Violet or so help me."

Violet stiffened, afraid to move any further. her posture became rigid, forcing the Alpha to stop with her. He glared down at her and lowly growled "move." Violet’s legs picked themselves up and started moving across the floor with him. She didn’t know where she mustered the strength and will to keep her legs moving but thank goodness they did.

Ursula standing in front of her Alpha, bowed to him with the upmost respect, knowing her approaching him was treading a thin line. But Ursula knew she had the Luna Queen at her back, she found the confidence to lift her head and speak.

"Good evening, Alpha, it’s a beautiful night for the gala, don’t you think?" Ursula asked casually.

"It’s well enough; I’m pleased with the outcome, of tonight so far and I have a lovely date. I heard she’s a friend of yours from school?" He asked knowing the answer full well.

"She’s my best friend and I’m so happy she’s here with us tonight. She just, brightens the place up, don’t you think? It’s what one of the things I love about her." Ursula answered proudly. She was careful with her words. She had to remain innocent and unsuspecting in his presences.

Ursula just hoped Violet didn’t suspect her.

Violet looked at Ursua and was in awe of her beauty and elegance "Wow Ursula, you look like a mermaid princess in that gown." Violet felt so relieved seeing Ursula her here unharmed. But that relief subsided bring a weary and nervous feeling into her chest. She tried to breath and act calmly, ’what if Ursula helped plan this?’

"Alpha come here, leave the lady and come grab a drink with us." A man shouted across the room, a cold aura erupted from his body, stilling Violet’s thoughts.

"Stay here, Ursula, stay with her. And neither of you better disappoint me. I’ll be right back." Alpha Micheal growled lowly.

"Yes Alpha." Ursula nodded.

Alpha Micheal released Violet’s hand and made his way across the dance floor.

"Thank goodness your safe, no one would tell me where you were, and I’ve been locked in my room all day. I’m so sorry you’re here, I swear I had no idea this was happening, I’m gonna get you out of her, you believe me, don’t you?" Ursula begged clasping Violet’s hand in hers.

"I’m so happy to hear that, I doubted a little, but I knew deep down you would never betray me like that." Violet tilted her to the side and smiled, holding Ursula’s hands in her.

"I swear Violet, I’ll get you out of here, even if it’s the last thing I do." Ursula assured her. Looking around, seeing no one was in ear shot, the Luna Queen is going to help me with a distraction later and then I’m going to sneak you out of here. I’m friends with the stable boy; he’s going to help me mask your smell and sneak you out of here."

Violet’s eyes threatened to leak tears of joy hearing that, she was going to get out of, she would find her way home and she would see the loves of her life. She could barely contain the happiness welling inside her. Her whole mood lightened, despite being surrounded by people who hate her and her people, the air became a little more breathable. Color started to return to her cheeks, and she no longer looked like a shadow of herself.

Nobody else seemed to notice how they also felt lighter, like their burdens were slipping away from them, the party livened even more, people were laughing louder, smiling bigger, and drinking more. However, they did notice the glow Violet was glowing, not in the usual way, but in a way that made her look alive.

"You don’t know how much that means to me. Truly." Violet gently stroked Ursula’s cheek.

Ursula smiled, if she had a tail at the moment, it would have been wagging.

Alpha Micheal approached them, a frown on his face, he really didn’t like how close the two women were standing. How much happier Violet looked with Ursula. ’Why didn’t she smile like that with me?’ he asked himself. A flame of jealously sparked, but he kept his cool, he was in the company of the Alpha King, and he couldn’t afford to seem weak. Not at a time like this, not when he was vulnerable.

Not far in the distance Alpha King Cyrus was watching Violet’s every move with a deep intensity. He wanted to know what it felt to be inside her, even if that meant a fight between him and his Uncle. Violet... She was worth it. He couldn’t explain it, but ever since she walked in the room, the world around him seemed to shift and he felt relaxed even. The closer he got, the better he felt. Luna Queen Selene noticed her husband’s strange behavior. She followed his gaze to see him staring at two women.

Ursula and her friend.

That must be the friend she was talking about based off her demeanor. She noticed as her husband began shifting closer to her.

This irked her. ’That Bastard.’ She thought to herself. That’s who he smelled like earlier, like her, that girl standing with Ursula. A small fire started burning inside her. She’d make her husband pay for his betrayal.

She approached Ursula and her friend rather quickly, jumping in front of her husband to great their guest.

"Hello, Alpha Micheal, and hey Ursula." She smiled and looked at Violet, she was even more stunning up close. Her skin was flawless, she had this sense of regal elegance that any woman in nobility could hope to have. The perfect image of perfection.

Alpha Micheal became annoyed quickly with the attention his new pet was getting. Ut did, however, confirm he picked the right woman. She was utterly flawless.

Grabbing a glass filled with champagne, from a nearby waiter, he gradually walks over to a buffet table and grabs a knife, dinging it on the glass.

"Good evening, Ladies and gentlemen. I want to start with a thank you for attending tonight’s Full Moon Gala with us here at the CrystalBay Pack" Alpha Micheal started loudly, "Tonight will be one to remember, I’d like to introduce you to the woman who will become this packs new Luna." Alpha Micheals gaze lifted from the crowd and narrowed on Violet. Hushed murmurs and whispered words began circling around the room.

Who could be this new woman?

When the crowd noticed his gaze landing on the pink haired beauty that graced their hall, they were confused, she didn’t smell like a wolf or a human or any other supernatural immortal being. Her scent was different. It was sweet and soothing.

"I would like to introduce. Violet Velmont, the future Luna of this pack." The Alpha gave Violet sickening grin.

Violet felt bile rise in her throat, and it was all she could do to swallow it. She couldn’t believe the sheer audacity of this man. Her mouth dropped and a look of disbelief laid on her face.

’The Hell?’ Violet thought to herself. There’s no way the wolves would accept her as their Luna, and there was no way she’d marry that brute of an Alpha, her princes would come, and they would rescue her. She believed in them, in their love for her. She was trembling, her feet unwillingly carried her across the dance floor.

The entire room was silent and staring at her. But no one dared defy an alpha in front of the royal family. The punishment would be one equal to treason.

"Ahhh, there she is, my lovely pet, my new Luna. Tonight, we celebrate my union, having a new Luna marked under the full moon, in front of our goddess, and the visit of my nephew the Alpha King."

The room still sat and silence, until the Alpha King began to applaud. And with that the crowd of guests followed.

"Well come future Luna Violet, welcome to our ranks. We are pleased to have such a valued luna grace us with her presence." Luna Queen Selene spoke first coming forth from the crowded dance floor.

Violet just focused on Ursula; she kept Violet grounded in this moment as sheer panic flooded her brain.

With the acceptance made by their King and Queen, they couldn’t reject the idea or her. The royals had the final say.

"With that, let the celebration continue!" Alpha King Cyrus applauds alongside his wife and the rest of the attendees followed, clapping and cheering.

An eerie feeling climbed up Violets back. It was like the coldness of the night started to seep in.

Screams erupted from outside and suddenly the sound of glass shattering filled the room.

"The Vampires, they’re attacking!"
