THE GOD EATER-Chapter 199: Effigy.

They beat Loki’s father until the man became an unrecognizable pile of flesh. During the process, the man screamed in pain for a while. Then he became silent because his throat had torn from all the screaming. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Finally, it got to a point that the man couldn’t scream even if his lungs were intact because his ribs had broken and punctured his lungs, so his lungs began to leak.

His father died soon after this point in the punishment. They made sure that Loki heard about it, but he still refused to return.

So the Rein Family moved on to his mother. They let many men rape her in public. When several men had taken too many turns on her and she became unusable, they let animals take their turns too.

All of these still failed to convince Loki to return. He turned a deaf ear to all the stories and jests that he heard about his mother. This forced the Rein Family to up the ante.

What they did next was to tie his siblings to two pillars that they placed outside. They promised that if Loki returned, he could save them.

But Loki refused to save his siblings. He ignored his two sisters as they starved to death, and vultures ate all of their flesh.

The bodies of his parents were fed to the pigs, so there was nothing left of them. But the corpses of his two younger sisters were buried in the mass grave since there was nothing left for pigs to eat.

Now, the two corpses are going to come in handy in helping Skarg find Loki. This is why they are digging up the mass grave. Skarg got the idea from seeing the three rank 5 cultivators use his blood to find Slav.

It took over four hours to find the corpses that they wanted, even though the mass grave was shallow. This was because many people had been buried there, too.

In just the few months that Loki escaped and went to join the Four Directions Sect, many slaves have died for whatever reasons and have been buried here. So they had to sift through a multitude of other corpses before they could find the two corpses that they wanted.

Thankfully, the two corpses were still wearing their tagged sack clothes when they were buried, so it was easy to identify their remains.

Skarg waited patiently during the whole process. Even though he wanted to find the corpses as soon as possible, he didn’t rush the slaves, and he didn’t punish them for taking so much time to do what he asked them to do.

After they found the corpses that he wanted, Skarg dismissed the slaves. Then he took the corpses and went to hand them over to a Death Cultivator.

He also took some of the things that Loki used to own to the Death Cultivator. This gave the Death Cultivator everything that he needed to forge an effigy of Loki.

The death cultivator was an old man with wrinkled skin and black spots all over his skin. He was also hunched over and needed a staff to stand.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, the old man only had a sparse amount of hair on his head, his eyes were cloudy, and his teeth were black. So he had an appearance that could scare a child to death.

Despite his frail appearance, the death cultivator was not physically weak. He was capable of working hard for long periods of time, which is what he did after he got all the materials that he needed. He worked for more than 6 hours creating the effigy.

The effigy was a doll woven with Loki’s sack cloths and shaven hair, together with the bones of his siblings. The bones formed the core, while the sackcloth and hair were used to bind them together.

This doll was created in the form of a baby. But it had a real human skull, and its eyes were producing a black wisp, so the doll wasn’t something that children could play with.

This is further confirmed by the fact that the doll is kept in a cage. The doll is also snarling like a wild beast with rabies and wants to break out of the cage to reach something outside of the cage.

As the death cultivator handed the caged effigy to Skarg, he grumbled, saying, "This is a waste of my talent. The quality of the material was too poor."

Skarg’s face was frosty as he said, "But will it work?"

The death cultivator quickly nodded when he saw Skarg’s face and said in reply, "Despite the poor quality of the materials, I still managed to create a rank 4 effigy, so it will definitely work in finding their last living relative. As long as this Loki you speak of is their last living relative, it will find him."

"But I have to warn you that the foundation of this effigy is a curse, and its main goal is to find Loki, kill him, and reunite their family in death. So the effigy must never be released from its cage."

Skarg nodded in understanding and said, "I understand. Is that all?"

The death cultivator thought about it for a while, unsure if he should say the other thing that they should take note of. If he didn’t tell Skarg, he stands to gain a lot. So he didn’t want to tell Skarg so that he could benefit from it.

But if he makes Skarg lose something important and become angry, Skarg is likely to take it out on him. This possibility convinced him to warn Skarg, so he said, "There is one last thing."

His tone was serious as he said, "When I said that it wants to reunite with Loki in death, I meant that it wants to fuse with Loki, become one with him, and transform Loki into a zombie."

"So if you need Loki’s body for something or you want him alive, you must never release the effigy from its cage. If you have to use it to kill Loki, you should destroy the effigy directly."
