The Golem Mage-Chapter 425: Final Mission (6).
The two entities that emerged from the rune that she had engraved on the ground just happened to be her puppets.
The first to materialize was the wooden spider, its eight jointed legs stretching out in all directions.
Each leg was intricately carved with runes and designs, giving the impression of sharp, gnarled wood.
The spider’s body was bulbous and exaggerated, with numerous eyes painted on the front and a set of large, fanged mandibles that snapped open and shut with a creaking sound.
As it moved, the spider puppet’s wooden joints groaned and creaked, adding to its eerie and lifelike appearance.
Initially, its movements were jerky and mechanical before syncing and becoming more fluid, as if controlled by an unseen force, adding to the sense of otherworldly dread that the puppet emitted.
The sheer size and craftsmanship of the wooden spider puppet made it a spectacle to behold, showcasing Beatrice’s impressive puppetry techniques.
Meanwhile, the second entity that emerged from the runes was a huge crocodile, moving slowly with a dark rune etched on its head.
This rune matched the exact one that Beatrice had summoned them from, she had turned the demonic crocodile beast into her puppet for quite some time now that it practically couldn’t remember its past again.
Beatrice preferred turning living beings into puppets rather than creating them from rare or divine woods, as she believed that turning a living creature or lifeform into a puppet was much more superior than creating one from wood.
This way, there was a higher chance of the puppet evolving into something tangible as its evolution would not be limited like the wooden puppets that have a need for higher Tier resources to breakthrough and still be able to maintain part of its intelligence.
Beatrice was confident in her ability to do this as long as she could obtain the creature’s brain intact, with her talent and technique she has a higher chance of making a unique puppet.
In fact, the only reason she had kept the wooden spider puppet for so long was because it was the first puppet she had created, leading her to have a sentimental attachment to it.
The crocodile growled and released its Tier 3 aura, emanating a strong Qi life force energy from its body.
And In response to the growls of the crocodile, various growling sounds could now be heard all around, causing the mages to look around anxiously, trying to hold their ground.
Just as they remained on guard, a black blur burst out from the bushes and dashed towards the nearest Mage.
As the team finally caught a clear view of their adversary, they were shocked to see a demonic beast that resembled a bulky black dog attacking their companion.
The Mage targeted by the creature let his guard down, viewing it as a threat he could handle, as dog demonic beast were quite weak, however, as the dog approached, it opened its mouth wide and exhaled a burst of fire, causing the Mage to scream in agony from the burn damage inflicted upon him.

Without hesitation, the dog lunged for the Mage’s throat after that surprise attack, its flaming jaws poised to deliver a fatal blow.
The Mage, who is already feeling close to death and resigning himself to his fate, closed his eyes, waiting for his finally moments, however, just as he was about to give up, he felt his body moving.
In a seemingly mechanical manner, it was as if something had pulled him back, narrowly avoiding the flaming jaws that missed him by mere inches.
"Oh, shit," the mage exclaimed.
"Get it together now and stop resisting, I need to be able to control at least fifty to seventy percent of your body to save your ass," Beatrice’s voice abruptly woke him up.
Looking behind, he realized that some type of Mana strings were deeply embedded in all his joints, and the recent movement he had made was definitely beyond his own capabilities, he knew he didn’t move his body on his own, and there was no way he made that move.
Beatrice had been the one to manipulate him and drag him out of harm’s way using her manipulative strings, the realization that she was treating him like one of her puppets infuriated him.
"I can’t be controlled!" the mage protested as he struggled against her manipulative strings.
This particular mage just happens to be the same one who had voiced discontent about pursuing a demon.
Most human mages were inherently fearful of anything related to demons, often avoiding involvement altogether.
So the mage was masking his fear with arrogance which is the reason for the mage’s outburst.
"That’s a Hell hound, you idiot, It can sense and feed off your fear, making you its primary target, Pull yourself together and let me help you, or you’ll perish."
" It’s absurd that I saved your life, yet you remain ungrateful," Beatrice calmly said.
As various Hell hounds began to appear from different directions, attempting to dash towards the house.
Acting on Beatrice’s orders, her team swiftly spread out and countered the creatures, determined to prevent them from breaching the house’s defences.
The first Hell hound leaped and struck down with its claws, shredding through the mage’s armor and inflicting severe wounds on his hands.
The mage cried out for Beatrice’s help, but she was still resentful from their earlier altercation, and was determined to focus on the rest of her team members instead.
She gave orders to them, indifferent to the mage’s plight, In her mind, if he were to perish, she wouldn’t hesitate to make him a temporary puppet.
In order to survive the onslaught of the chaotic Hell hounds, Beatrice’s actions may have seemed cruel to some, but she was unconcerned with the opinions of others at that moment.
She didn’t even know the specific type of demon she was facing, but it was evident that it was not a Low Tier demon, It was likely a medium level demon just not a very high level one, as it attacked with an army of Tier 3 Hell hounds at its command, rather than a much higher level adversary.
Hell hounds were typically used as guards in the lower regions of the demonic Abyss, so the fact that they were acting as companions suggested to Beatrice that she might be confronting a demon that had recently ascended to the Tier 4 realm, becoming a medium level demon.
Despite the challenge ahead, Beatrice was confident in her abilities to confront it directly.
However, with her experience of dealing with demons, she has learnt that it would likely not engage in a direct confrontation with her and her team, but instead continue to probe for a vulnerable point to exploit, just as it had refused to fulfil it’s pact with the summoner finding an easier way out while also gaining from the deal .
Just as the Hell hound was poised to attack the fallen mage once more, who believed himself doomed with an injured hand, he witnessed a red wooden limb pass him.
It was one of the eight long legs of the puppet spider, piercing through the Hell hound as it attempted to devour the mage , ultimately flinging it away.
The mage with the broken hand surveyed the scene and realized that every other team member remained unscathed and steady, while he alone had sustained injuries severe enough to diminish his combat effectiveness.
Reflecting on the recent attack by the spider puppet, it was evident from its swift movements and its efficient dispatching of the Hell hound that it was a Tier 4 puppet.
As he gazed at the puppet passing by, he noticed the number 4 engraved on its belly, The reddish hue of the wood used to enhance it further confirmed his suspicion that it was indeed a Tier 4 puppet crafted from cherry wood, a rare and valuable Tier 4 resource that is very hard to get.
With a deep sigh, he came to the realization that he had become a part of an unconventional team.
As he had not officially being a member of Beatrice team, he had been assigned to her to work alongside her team, after his entire team had been wiped out during a mission, and that is how he became a member of one of the commander teams.
