The Golem Mage-Chapter 426: Final Mission! (7)
Jake Winchester had not anticipated the tragic fate that befell his team on their first mission, which was an assignment to eliminate a group of lizard men.
Their lack of understanding about the creatures’ behaviours and hunting methods resulted in a near-total annihilation of the team, they had been so over confident that they attacked head on, fortunately, Jake managed to evade death and emerged from the ordeal, hiding and waiting till the academy would send reinforcement.
In the aftermath of a failed mission, it became standard practice for the assignment to be reassigned to the nearest team deemed capable by the War God Mage Academy.
It was under this circumstance that Beatrice’s team was tasked with resolving the aftermath of the sergeant team’s unsuccessful mission.
Upon arrival, Beatrice’s team swiftly eliminated the threat posed by the lizard men and welcomed a new member into their ranks to prevent leaving anyone behind.
However, Jake was perturbed by a disturbing sight during the battle – despite the loss of one of her team member in the battle , Beatrice continued to control her lifeless bodies using her Mana strings, as he made sure she was even used as a cannon fodder if needed.
Unwilling to be subject to such manipulation Jake developed a thing against Beatrice , as Jake found it unsettling that Beatrice’s team operated effectively under her control.
And due to his esteemed background as a member of a high-tier clan, Jake was taken aback by the willingness of other Tier 3 mages to surrender their autonomy to her.
This dynamic made it challenging for Jake to integrate with the team, particularly in light of his unfamiliarity with their history of undertaking perilous missions chosen by Beatrice.
Although he saw her as a cruel person, he still couldn’t understand why she had chosen to save him at the last moment when the puppet spider moved instead of letting him die.
He watched as she stood at the front door of the house, moving her hands that were connected to many strings.
These strings were linked to the joints of every member in the team, guiding their systematic approach to the fight, It was as if he was witnessing a battle formation unfold before his eyes.
Despite the Hell hound’s speed, fire breath, and sharp claws, none of them were able to truly harm the rest of the team.
As Beatrice always seemed to be able to redirect them away from danger or send more mages in the direction of the attack to defend against it.
As Jake observed the team’s flawless teamwork, he began to wonder how anyone could even die in such a well-coordinated group.
When there was always someone there to pull them back from the brink when things got dire, He pondered this, but there was not going to be any one to answer anytime soon as he heard a muffled and loud bang from inside the house, followed by a small part of the house breaking.

#A Few Minutes Before The Explosion,
Inside the house, the shadows began to distort as if something was trying to break free from them.
Suddenly, a swirly black portal appeared in one of the shadows of the room, the man in the room tried to shout, but the shadows quickly engulfed the space around the room, causing him to shake in fear.
As he knew that this was the work of the demon he had summoned, and it had finally come to claim his soul.
Despite his efforts to speak out, the shadow covering the inside of the house prevented anyone outside from hearing him.
Just as the shadow seemed to be reaching towards him, massive black runes flashed on the ground, causing the shadows that have crossed them to melt and burn, as a hurt groan emanated from the walls of shadow.
Suddenly, a Hell hound was forcefully expelled from a swirling black portal, indicating that whatever was behind the shadows was intent on killing the demon summoner fast.
However, just as the hell hound leaped, its jaws were quickly clamped shut by a powerful hand, the hell hound tried to attack with its fiery breath, the hand held on to its jaws, rendering its efforts useless, no matter the amount of burn damages that was done.
The hell hound looked up to meet with a pair of white eyes gleaming in red armor, the man spoke a single word in his native language,
"[Burn]."
As flames erupted from his hand, scorching the struggling hell hound, Despite its whimpering, it showed no signs of dying soon, prompting the mage to hurl it into a shadowed corner of the house.
Meanwhile, he conjured a long flaming blade in his other hand and thrust it at the airborne hell hound like a javelin, impaling it against the shadowed wall, and triggering a muffled explosion.

As the team, including Beatrice, turned their attention towards the source of the explosion, the mages looked at her with expressions of deep fear.
As they feared that the man they were protecting had met his demise.
"Zephyr, take care of the situation here, I’ll check on the mission target," Beatrice instructed as she turned to enter, only to find that the door wouldn’t budge, barring her way.
Upon seeing this, Zephyr, Jake, and the rest of the team wore expressions of shock and concern.
"If we can’t save the mission target, all our efforts against the demons and the points we’ve accumulated will be for nothing, this mission will be a failure," Jake Winchester remarked grimly, though he had been quite scared of the mission but he was really concern on saving the man .
"Not necessarily, I’ve left one of my puppets inside, I did refine it when it was just a Tier 3 Mage, but now that the mage I transformed into a puppet has reached the Tier 4 Mage level, and it’s way more powerful than anything I’ve created before, to the extent even I don’t know all his moves " Beatrice explained confidently.
"Trust me when I say this – if my hunch about this demon being in the early stages of Tier 4 is correct, we can’t definitively determine the outcome of this battle yet, But I’m officially placing my bet on my puppet to emerge victorious," she declared.
Attempting to move towards the area of the muffled explosion, Beatrice discovered that it was now encased in what appeared to be a shadow cage – only breakable from within or by killing the caster.
Alternatively, they could find a Mage who was a full realm above the shadow demon to just break it, but none of their team members were even Tier 4 Mages, let alone Tier 5.
All they could do now was wait and hope that the precautionary puppet left by Beatrice would succeed in both saving the man and vanquishing the primary demon involved, as most of them were tired.
"Where did all the Hell hounds go?" Beatrice questioned as she turned back, only to find her team members no longer engaged in battle but instead resting, bearing various injuries on their bodies.
Scattered around them were countless dead hell hounds, evidence of the fierce combat they had just endured. Initially fighting in an invisible state with the aid of Beatrice’s strings to enhance their attacks, but the team had not realized the toll it was taking on their bodies until they stopped.
"The hell hounds just disappeared, as if they were summoned away by something. It almost seemed like they jumped into a portal beneath them. But that has to be a good thing, right?, since they left us alone" Zephyr asked between ragged breaths, sensing the potential danger they had narrowly avoided.
"Oh, that can’t be good at all," Beatrice responded, her gaze shifting to the closed door. "My puppet just got screwed now I better help out ." She mentioned with a tinge of worry in her voice, as she started making countless hand runes signs.
