The Gourmet Innkeeper: Cooking Monsters in a Fantasy World-Chapter 316: Using the Clinic
The three buildings were soon completed in their construction. For those who were not busy fighting or doing other things, they immediately went to explore the new buildings.
All three buildings followed the aesthetic style of the existing buildings, making them visually coherent.
The clinic was a one-storey building about 100 square meters in footprint. When they entered, other than the counter, there were a dozen beds lined up, separated by curtains. The space was decent, allowing for circulation, considering that people here were patients who’d likely have to be carried around.
It also had its own toilet and shower area, though only the patients could use it.
Right now, Aaron and Ren were holding Zachary. When they heard from Finn that this was a clinic, they hurried here, and two kids, Athie and Lily, were toddling right behind them.
The poor kids had red eyes and were sniffling, just about to cry. Syl and Finn saw this and followed over.
The trio didn’t really know what to expect, but since it was Finn’s building, they knew that it wouldn’t be bad.
Zachary got a bit careless while they were fighting. Since it was usually the three of them in the team, and they were all close or mid-range fighters, he got quite excited to have long-ranged fighters, even if they were kids.
Granted, he seemed like a kid himself, so maybe he thought of them as his peers as well.
The thing was, the two kids were still practicing their magic, and although they were seriously strong as children, they were still inexperienced in actual high-stakes combat.
One time, Zachary found himself in the middle of a monster mob with a few toughened monsters. They couldn’t react fast enough, and Zachary, who just tended to assume everything would be alright, got slashed down by a monster before Ren could pull him back to the barrier.
So now, here they were, rushing him to get healed.
The group hurriedly entered the room under the eyes of other curious people. As they passed a threshold, a system interface appeared in front of them. There was a screen in front of each person, and they could see each other’s windows.
The screens each displayed different costs, which was understandable since they had different degrees of injuries.
[Would you like to get fixed for 5 gold?]
This was for Zachary, who had a deep gash on his body.
It wasn’t cheap, but they gathered huge amounts of cores during their stay there, so they weren’t stingy at all.
As for the two of them, they were asked for only 1 gold, and they did not accept it since they had minor injuries and could be healed by healers. They were also next in line to get a room, so their injuries would definitely be healed within the next two days.
After payment, the system assigned a bed to Zachary, and they watched as he slowly healed his wounds, much faster than they would have in the inn. Not to mention, the bedrooms in the inn were limited. With the increasing number of people in the inn’s perimeters, the great majority of the people here were only camping or were guests, and in those cases, the clinic was invaluable.
Finn and Syl, who were now holding their respective kid relatives, watched this all with interested eyes.
Finn’s eyes sharpened when an idea appeared in his head.
He turned to look at the side, to see little Tumble walking around nearby, carrying a few things.
He called on the little goblin who quickly toddled over to him. "Can you call the Elders and old man Lenok in here?"
...
It turned out the clinic worked with poison too!
The two poisoned people just had to pay 25 gold and 30 gold, respectively, with Lenok having it worse, likely due to excessive activity.
Just like this, the poison that could’ve been a true danger to them if left alone for another week or so was fixed.
He recalled that while the ingredients for the antidote were not too rare, they were not truly common for most people outside the elven royal family. Not to mention, the actual formula was also a well-kept secret. So, unless one was connected to the elven royals, fixing the poison in time would actually be a challenge.
This was something they confirmed with Master Thusallem and others, sending word back. Speaking of them, he should call them back here to get healed as well.
Finn couldn’t help but chuckle.
He had a feeling that the people behind these poisionings was the same group or the same person.
If they knew they got healed just by paying a few gold, what would they feel?
...
At this time, in Pengit Town
Frago was inside a large hall with a few elders of his family. At the center, sitting on what was basically a throne, was his great-grandfather.
His name was Baldov, one of the few Apex-level powerhouses still alive.
Frago looked at the old man who currently had a certain dark aura around him. Even when he was so old, Frago found himself so intimdated with him.
Still, he had his pride as the ’favorite’ grandchild.
"Yes, grandfather, we have successfully administered the poisons," he said. They bribed people close to those old bastards, and they made sure to use other identities when making deals. So, even if the spies got caught later, it wouldn’t be traced back to their Bhissit Family.
"I’m curious, though, grandpa, why them?"
At this, the old man sneered.
"Those bastards had been the most vocal against me in my youth," he said. "They might see more clues in time, so it is better to deal with them before they notice and cause trouble later." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
The old man’s sharp eyes moved from the crowd to the large ring he wore. It emanated with great ancient power that had long come extinct in his era.
He had tried to do this a few decades ago and failed. With this generation, he would succeed.
He would become the first Titan after hundreds of years.
