The Grand Duke's Son Is A Heretic-Chapter 100:I Will Make Your Life Hell
Chapter 100: 100:I Will Make Your Life Hell
Kael strode into the Grand Duke office, with a relaxed posture but his mind on high alert.
On the way,the air was tense, thick with something unspoken.Except his guys, everyone in the mansion was walking on edge due to the presence of a worm.
A huge bluish worm who sat across the lavish chamber.
And yeah,it’s none other than Grant.
Grant sat with a shady, insidious smile, his eyes fixed on Kael like a predator sizing up prey.
Kael’s instincts screamed at him.
His gaze sharpened and his muscles tensed a bit as he prepared for mental battle.
He spoke first.
"What do you want, my Lord?"
Grand Duke Ruth exhaled, shaking his head. He wasn’t in the mood for pointless pleasantries.
"Enough with the nonsense." His voice was firm, commanding. "Rami, show him the map."
Rami, the old steward, stepped forward and unrolled a massive map across the large onyx table in the center of the room.
It was the vast Duchy of Veydrin
The map was detailed and vast, painted over aged parchment with golden inlays marking borders and major landmarks.
The Duchy of Veydrin stretched across the central-northern region of the Heizen Empire, a massive territory with varied landscapes—
To the north, it bordered the Frozen Expanse, a land of eternal winter where icy wastelands and mana crystal mines were located.
To the west, it met the Hollowwood Province, a dense ancient forest said to house mystical creatures.
To the east, it reached the Silverfang Range, a line of towering mountains that served as a natural defense against invaders from the Sovaryn Dominion.
To the south, it merged into the Imperial Heartlands, connecting directly to Heizen’s capital, Luthadel.
Kael’s eyes traced the northern border, where a red mark had been drawn.
Ruth tapped his finger on it.
"There’s a problem with the mana crystal supply up north. You’re assigned to investigate and fix it."
Kael didn’t react. He simply asked, "What’s the problem?"
Ruth’s tone darkened. "The emergence of an ’Ice Devil’."
Kael’s brow furrowed. "Ice Devil?"
A question mark hovered over his thoughts.
Before Ruth could explain, Grant leaned forward, his smug grin widening.
"An unknown entity has appeared, calling itself the ’Ice Devil’." Grant’s voice was smooth, mocking. "It commands an army of Ice Men—strange, humanoid warriors made entirely of frost. They’ve been attacking our supply lines along with repeated beast tides."
Kael frowned, trying to recall if he had ever heard of such a thing.
Nothing came to mind.
He waved the thought away and smirked. "Why not just send Adele? She’s stronger and more qualified, right?"
Grant’s grin didn’t fade. If anything, it grew sharper.
"Not everyone is free like you." His tone was filled with sarcasm.
Kael chuckled darkly. "Free? You call me free? You drag me here, shove a job down my throat, and expect me to do it without question?"
Grant’s fingers tapped lazily on the table. "Oh? And what exactly do you think your position in this family is?"
Kael tilted his head. "A disposable tool?"
Grant clapped his hands. "Ah, so you do understand! That makes things easier."
Kael’s eyes darkened.
"Watch your tongue, old man. If I’m a tool, I might just end up cutting the wrong people."
The atmosphere turned dangerous.
Grant’s smug amusement remained, but a flicker of caution crossed his face.
Ruth had enough.
"Enough!" His voice thundered through the room, making even Grant lean back slightly.
Ruth exhaled, his patience wearing thin. "Kael, it’s time for you to head out and see life without Ramos babysitting you."
Kael’s grin faded.
A spark of something cold flickered in his eyes.
Then, he let out a low chuckle.
"Fine. Let’s see what this ’Ice Devil’ is really made of."
Kael, who walked off, turned around and leaned against the doorframe, staring at Ruth. His voice was casual but sharp.
"What about the estate? Wasn’t I am going to choose now?"
Ruth sat back in his chair, his icy gaze unreadable.
"Think of this trip as a test," he said, his voice carrying a weight of finality. "You need to be at least capable enough to handle the problems thrown at you."
Ruth looked at Kael coldly,"If you can’t even solve such a small problem, how can you solve the troubles arising in the Duchy."
"Who knows what mess you might cause if I hand the estate over to you directly?"
Kael chuckled under his breath. "Fair enough."
With a small nod, he turned to leave.
But as he passed Grant, he slowed down. His lips curled into a twisted, evil grin.
"I don’t know what you’re cooking..." His voice dropped into a whisper, laced with venom. "But the day I start cooking, you’ll regret it."
Grant’s fingers twitched. He clenched his fist, his face remaining composed, but inside, a wave of rage threatened to break free.
Kael walked out without looking back, his insane laughter barely suppressed.
Grant’s nails dug into his palm.
’Calm down... Calm down... This bastard doesn’t have many days left.’
He exhaled sharply, forcing his mind back into control when—
A voice, cold as death, rang in the air.
"Grant."
His blood froze.
His face turned pale.
Slowly, almost mechanically, he stood up.
Ruth was glaring at him, his eyes like black pits of unforgiving judgment. The air in the room grew heavy, the temperature seeming to drop.
Grant felt a pressure crush down on his chest, like an invisible hand gripping his throat.
Ruth spoke, his tone deadly calm.
"Just because I allow it doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want."
His aura darkened, and the shadows in the room seemed to crawl closer.
"Only those two have the right to go at each other’s throats. But if you step out of line... if you cross the limit even once..."
Ruth’s voice was slow, methodical—like a blade being sharpened.
"I won’t hesitate to rip your head off in the name of disciplinary action."
Grant swallowed hard, his hands trembling. But Ruth wasn’t done.
His gaze became even colder, his presence devouring the light in the room.
"Remember..." His voice dropped lower, almost a whisper.
"You are nothing but a vessel. A slave of Veydrin."
Grant staggered back slightly. His breath hitched.
Unlike Ramos and Ruth, he was someone who was born out of wedlock from the belly of a maid.
There were few others but all of them died in fierce struggle for the Grand Duke’s seat and he only managed to survive because he pledged his allegiance earlier.
However, that doesn’t mean he had the same right as that of the son of the main wife who was the previous Duchess.
Ruth’s eyes flashed, his aura erupting like a silent storm, filling the space with a force so suffocating Grant felt like his head was about to explode.
"Know your place."
Grant’s mind went blank. His body screamed in horror.
A sharp ringing filled his ears. His vision blurred.
’Why the hell father and son look the same when they threaten someone?!’
His own thoughts were swallowed by the overwhelming terror.
"I...I apologize My Lord for misconduct.I beg your pardon for showing you something slightly wrong and I promise that it won’t happen again."
"Hmm!"Ruth nodded and waved his hand ordering him to leave.
Grant bowed again and walked out but just as he stepped out, the servants around froze seeing his fiery expression.
Grant ignored them and walked with heavy steps while cursing inwardly...
’KAELLLLL!I PROMISE TO MAKE YOUR LIFE HELLL!’
