Chapter 24: Chapter 24 Your Brother Has an Opinion_1

The warm, sticky sensation made Li Qing shudder involuntarily, nearly crying out.

Yang Xuelan pinched Li Qing’s member, sliding it up and down in that spot a few times.

The warm touch as her body moved across the ravine made Li Qing’s soul nearly burst open.

So this was what it felt like.

So comfortable!

Only when Li Qing’s spot also became slick did Yang Xuelan slowly guide him toward the correct position.

"Come,"

she breathed heavily, her face flushed red, her eyes hazy with intense desire.

A sensation of tightness crept up stealthily, making Li Qing tense all over.

"Qingzi, Qingzi, open the door!"

A crisp and urgent voice suddenly called from outside the door.

Li Qing recoiled in fright, "It’s my sister-in-law!"

"Ah?!" Yang Xuelan was also startled, letting out a soft cry as she pulled up her trousers, "What do we do?"

"Just wait," Li Qing calmed himself, "I’ll go out and take a look."

"What if your sister-in-law comes in?" Yang Xuelan asked anxiously.

In the dead of night, she couldn’t find any reason for being at Li Qing’s place.

Li Qing looked around and said, "Xue Lan, I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but could you hide in the wardrobe? If my sister-in-law doesn’t come in, you can look for an opportunity to slip out first."

Yang Xuelan hurriedly agreed and scrambled into the wardrobe.

Li Qing checked to make sure there were no obvious traces, then properly dressed and went out to the main room.

Outside the door, Han Mei was standing with her arms crossed, looking terribly shaken.

"Sister-in-law, what happened?" Li Qing asked with concern upon seeing her state.

Han Mei’s breathing was uneven, and in a low voice she said to Li Qing, "Qingzi, it feels like something dirty has gotten into the house? I... I’m a little scared."

"Dirty things?!" Li Qing was shocked.

He had often heard such rumors in the village, but he had never seen anything like this for himself.

"Don’t be afraid, sister-in-law, tell me exactly what happened!" Li Qing comforted Han Mei, asking her.

He wanted to invite Han Mei inside, but with Yang Xuelan hiding there, he dared not broach the subject.

Shivering, Han Mei’s clear, bright eyes filled with fear, "I was half asleep when I felt like someone was standing by my bed. I woke up frightened, but there was nothing there next to me."

"After a while, the feeling came back again, and it seemed like something was touching my arm."

"I didn’t dare move and pretended to be asleep. Soon the feeling faded, but then there came this clicking sound from the roof, as if someone were scratching at the rafters."

Li Qing’s hair stood on end as he listened to Han Mei’s account.

Could the world really harbor such sinister occurrences?

"Don’t be afraid, sister-in-law, I’ll go with you to check it out," Li Qing said, puffing out his chest.

Although he felt a bit cowardly, deep down he didn’t really believe in these things.

Han Mei moved closer to Li Qing, whispering nervously, "Qingzi, do you think it might be because you and I... that your brother is upset?"

"That’s impossible!" Li Qing said decisively.

He couldn’t let his sister-in-law think that way.

Once she had that idea, there would be no chance for him to get close to her again.

Determined, Li Qing thought that even if a great immortal had moved into his sister-in-law’s house, he would have to capture it.

"Sister-in-law, I’ll accompany you home to take a look," Li Qing steadied Han Mei and said in a deep voice.

With a look of sheer terror, Han Mei’s voice trembled, "Qingzi, should we buy some incense and candles, just in case..."

Li Qing immediately asserted with certainty, "Sister-in-law, there is no ’just in case.’ Don’t scare yourself like this."

"Besides, at this hour, Uncle Lame and Auntie Caili are already asleep; there’s nowhere we can buy these things!"

"Let me first check out what is actually going on; otherwise, you’ll never have peace of mind."

Han Mei weakly nodded, "Yes, that might be good."

Li Qing, aiding the obviously weak-legged Han Mei, arrived at her home.

The lights shining in the rooms made the quiet of the yard even more eerie. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

This sent a shiver down Li Qing’s spine.

But to keep Han Mei from noticing, he mustered his courage and deliberately said loudly, "Sister-in-law, stay close behind me."

Han Mei nodded lightly, clutching Li Qing’s arm tightly.

Li Qing entered the living room, his gaze sweeping around.

On the bedside table lay a water cup that his sister-in-law had drunk from, now knocked over.

There were also some food crumbs on the floor.

Li Qing squatted down to take a closer look, "Sister-in-law, did you eat this?"

Han Mei’s face turned deathly pale as she shook her head vehemently.

This made Li Qing somewhat perplexed.

Suddenly, he noticed some ashes and a piece of yellow paper stuck on the bedsheet.

Li Qing’s breath caught; he recognized it.

It was an incompletely burned piece of joss paper.

Damn it, could it really be that his brother was expressing his dissatisfaction from beyond?

This thought made Li Qing feel slightly guilty as well.

"Sister-in-law, do you see anything amiss?" Li Qing quietly picked up the bits of yellow paper, squeezing it in his palm as he asked.

Han Mei’s voice shook even more violently, "I didn’t knock over the water cup, and the drawers have been opened."

This noise made Li Qing feel as if a thief had entered the home.

But a thief would hardly bring along ashes of joss paper or leave crumbs of pastries on the floor.

This was truly bizarre.

He racked his brain but couldn’t come up with a situation that would create such a scene.

It seemed the most likely possibility was indeed that his brother had roamed around the house.

Li Qing shivered slightly and immediately banished the thought from his mind.

Impossible!

Even if it were true, he was determined to make it impossible.

With the living and dead set apart, these thoughts were preposterous; they shouldn’t be entertained.

Li Qing lay flat on the ground, looking carefully under the bed, then lifted the quilt still warm from Han Mei’s body.

He did not discover anything, but he did notice the black lacy panties at the pillow’s edge.

It seemed that his sister-in-law had worn those during the day.

Han Mei’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and with quick reflexes, she snatched up the panties and hid them behind her back, "Don’t look so carelessly!"
