The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 68: The Sudden Arrival of Wu Xingxing_1
Tian Yue’e’s talk of paying wages was taken as a joke by Li Qing.
If he really took that pay after guarding the stall for a few days, Tian Yue’e would probably be back to having no rice to cook.
Still, this woman with the extraordinary physique and full bosom always liked to gloss over the hardships of life with grand and bold words.
But Li Qing’s desire to find a job and earn more money was very real.
He just didn’t have a clue where to start.
After dinner, Li Qing left Tian Yue’e’s house.
He went to feed the chickens and ducks at Han Mei’s place before heading home.
These past few days, Han Mei had been staying with Tian Yue’e, which put an end to Li Qing’s hopes and musings for something more.
The thought of sneaking around with Tian Yue’e was now something not even worth considering.
The sweltering summer, at dusk, was particularly oppressive.
It was suffocating enough to disrupt one’s breathing.
Li Qing lay on the couch with the door open, trying to sleep but the heat made it impossible, and suddenly he craved that cool, refreshing popsicle.
He also longed a little for Caili’s nimble and particularly skillful tongue.
If Caili was free, it was the perfect time to make up for the unfinished fireworks from before.
Thinking of this, Li Qing felt a sudden surge of heat inside him.
He staggered out the door and just as he reached the small shop, he hadn’t even entered when someone suddenly jumped out from the side.
"Brother Qingzi!"
Li Qing looked closer and recognized the plump figure that was all too familiar.
"Get lost, it’s so hot I’m annoyed, and here you are bothering me," he pushed the figure aside and cursed his way towards the small shop.
Hu Wei’s face darkened as he blocked Li Qing’s path, "Brother Qingzi, I really want to help you, but I can’t do anything about this. My old man beats me, and I can take that, but he doesn’t listen to a word I say. To make matters worse, he hits me for speaking out."
"Spit it out!" Li Qing said impatiently.
Looking at Hu Pangpang’s chubby face, the disgusting visage of Hu Youyu immediately sprung to mind. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
This brought up a wave of anger and irritation in Li Qing, amplified by the day’s sultry vexation.
Hu Wei clutched Li Qing’s arm, his small eyes shining with a greedy glint as he whispered, "Brother Qingzi, there’s a new foot massage place in town. Heard the masseuses are not only young and pretty, but they also give especially gratifying services."
"A hundred bucks for a foot massage, and with four hundred bucks, they’ll go with you, free for you to play with. I’ll treat you to try it out tomorrow!"
"When did all that fat turn you so generous, treating me?" Li Qing scoffed.
Knowing the little fatso’s character, him not taking advantage was already good, let alone him offering a treat. That was truly a rare occasion.
"Yes, I’m treating you," Hu Wei nodded earnestly, his chin fat bunching up into one mass.
Li Qing looked Hu Wei up and down, clicking his tongue, "Since when did you change your last name? How come I wasn’t aware?"
"Come on, Brother Qingzi, stop making fun of me. I mean it," Hu Wei said seriously.
"Tell me your real purpose and I’ll go, otherwise, get lost and do whatever you’re supposed to do," Li Qing waved his hand and cursed.
A situation too abnormal always means there’s a demon at play.
This little fatso was definitely not his usual self today.
Hu Wei forced a smile with an unnatural look on his face and said in a low, submissive voice, "Alright, I’ll be honest, I’m sorry!"
"What?" Li Qing doubted if his ears had heard right.
Hu Wei hung his head low and said quietly, "You see, I know my dad isn’t a good person, and I don’t agree with what he does. But no matter what, he’s still my dad. I can’t defy him, nor can I leave my family."
"Yet I don’t want to sever the brotherhood between us. Since I can’t help, I might as well apologize first."
Li Qing couldn’t help but laugh.
The little fatty didn’t sound too bad with that comment.
He hadn’t expected the wimp to help him anyway, but the thought counted for something, making him feel somewhat better.
"Give me a chance to apologize, Brother Qingzi?" Hu Wei said eagerly, "Those girls coming from the south are not only beautiful but skilled in all sorts of arts. A simple twist of their waist, and they can drive a man crazy."
Hearing this, Li Qing, who had just had his first taste of meat, was immediately tempted.
The addictive pleasure he had just savored from Tian Yue’e made him unable to resist craving more.
"Seeing as you’re so sincere, I’ll go with you tomorrow to check it out," Li Qing said.
"Deal! I promise you’ll be satisfied tomorrow," Hu Pangpang said excitedly, seeing that Li Qing had agreed.
"Are you here to buy something from Auntie Caili?" he then asked.
"You better go back, I’m just buying a popsicle; this damn weather is too hot to handle," Li Qing said as he walked toward the little shop.
He was thinking of getting rid of Hu Pangpang to have a little lower-body talk with Caili.
But upon hearing about the popsicle, Hu Wei followed him like an arrow shot out, "Come on, it’s on me, it’s on me!"
Li Qing: ...
Feeling gloomy, Li Qing entered the small store only to find another person sitting inside, which made him even more upset.
"Auntie, three popsicles, no, five ice creams!" Hu Pangpang ordered magnanimously.
Today, wearing something relatively conservative, Auntie Caili shot a glance at Li Qing filled with resentment.
Li Qing saw it and knew what it was all about.
But he simply couldn’t explain.
"Here you go," Auntie Caili said, pulling five ice creams from the freezer and throwing them on the counter with a huff.
Li Qing could only offer a wry smile.
He would have to find an opportunity to explain things to Auntie Caili.
Otherwise, with that resentment, and how exceptionally alarming her fullness looked when they hung down, he feared he would never get a chance to touch them again.
"Brother Qingzi, here," Hu Wei said, handing all the ice creams to Li Qing as if claiming credit.
Li Qing, unable to help himself, said, "How could I eat so many by myself? Auntie, have one to cool off."
That was killing two birds with one stone, and a gesture on top of it.
"Little Qingzi’s got a smooth tongue today, not like before when you didn’t know any manners. Couldn’t even say a nice word and just stuffed things into people’s mouths," Auntie Caili said with a scoff, almost bluntly bringing up the incident from the other day.
Li Qing was startled and hurriedly pulled Hu Wei out of the store.
"One is enough for me; you can take the rest back."
He took one ice cream and handed the rest to Hu Wei.
"I bought them for you," mumbled Hu Wei.
"How could I eat them all? You’re trying to kill me if you expect me to eat that many at once," Li Qing said with a laugh.
Confused, Hu Wei had no choice but to take the rest in hand.
A night passed without incident.
The next morning, before Li Qing was fully awake, he received a call from Han Mei.
She and Tian Yue’e had already gone to town and asked Li Qing to feed the chickens and ducks at home and to dry the apricot kernels.
She listed a bunch of trivial tasks in great detail.
Her blunt words sounded just like those of an ordinary couple.
After hanging up, Li Qing yawned and was about to wash his face and take care of his sister-in-law’s tasks when he saw Wu Xingxing enter in a white dress, floating in like a drifting cloud.
