The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 766 Endless Night of Passion_1
Li Qing and Yu Baishuo watched a midnight movie, reliving their first romance.
Although Yu Baishuo had heard that midnight movies were exciting, there were actually very few people.
However, the audience was indeed mostly couples, but everyone seemed restrained. They didn’t engage in any serious action, just slyly making little moves. No one, like last time, joined in with Li Qing and Yu Baishuo’s frolics or exchanged glances.
In fact, Li Qing still had a strong impression of the girl he encountered that time. Her eyes and the ample way she deliberately draped over the chairback were so vividly etched in his memory.
Unfortunately, they were just ships that pass in the night, never meant to have any further story.
When they left the cinema, the moonlight was no longer as bright, and the world seemed to have plunged into pitch darkness. The streets were so deserted that not a single pedestrian could be seen, only the occasional taxi zooming past on its night shift.
Their presence was probably the only proof that the city was still alive during the night.
Yu Baishuo didn’t want to go home, as the evening’s events had left her in a less than cheerful mood.
Li Qing then casually suggested they get a room for her to rest.
"Haven’t you had enough? You’ve been tormenting me all night, if you keep it up, I’ll really be done for. I might even end up swallowing a raw radish whole, and you’d despise me for that," Yu Baishuo tightened her overcoat and looked up at Li Qing with a smile.
"It’s not as exaggerated as you think. With your resilience, even if I tormented you for another two days, you’d still be the same," Li Qing laughed, "You don’t want to go home, right? I can’t just leave you in the middle of the road to spend the night here, can I?!"
Yu Baishuo, with a coquettish smile, nudged Li Qing with her shoulder. "What are you talking about? I’m not that tough. Let’s just go to sleep together, keep the lights on for a night battle. It seems we’ve done this many times, but we’ve never actually slept together. That’s a small regret that needs to be remedied."
"Then let’s go," Li Qing said with a smile as he put his arm around Yu Baishuo’s shoulder.
They hailed a taxi and hurried to the Impression Hotel.
This was now Li Qing’s first choice for accommodations. President Lü had put a lot of effort into offering money to him, so it was only right that he didn’t give his business to someone else when staying at a hotel. Although a small matter, it was the thought that counted.
The hotel’s front desk was manned by a somewhat dazed-looking girl, dozing off while watching a movie on her phone.
The thrilling movie clearly couldn’t fend off her sleepiness during the night shift.
Li Qing didn’t want to disturb her, but still needed her to process their check-in.
He knocked on the desk and called out softly, "Miss, wake up."
The dazed girl rubbed her nose, jolted awake. She seemed bewildered by sleep and nearly tumbled off the chair.
She hastily grabbed the counter to steady herself and, upon seeing Li Qing and Yu Baishuo in front of her, became somewhat anxious, "President Li, I’m sorry, I... I was just too sleepy."
"You don’t need to apologize to me; it’s okay, there aren’t many people around anyway. You should sleep if you need to," Li Qing said with a smile.
Yu Baishuo looked at Li Qing with some surprise, as if she had many questions on her mind.
But she restrained herself and didn’t ask aloud.
The somewhat dazed front desk clerk stuck out her tongue nervously and asked tentatively, "Is President Li here to check things out, or...?"
"Get me a room," Li Qing said.
"President Li, the amenities in your office far exceed those of an ordinary guest room and it’s more convenient, too. Why don’t you head back to your office?" the adorably clueless front desk girl whispered.
"It’s a hassle, would have to call someone to unlock it for me. Forget it, just book me a room," Li Qing said.
Last time Li Qing stayed for convenience, he ended up causing a fair bit of trouble for others, so he couldn’t be bothered to do it again.
After all, it was just for a night’s sleep, so getting a room was more convenient than going to the office.
"The access control is right here, I can open it for you," the girl said the day before.
"Is that so, well, that works," Li Qing said, "If it’s not too much trouble, give me the access card, and I’ll go up myself."
The adorably clueless girl at the front desk sweetly smiled and said, "Of course, it’s convenient. The original intent of Lü Zong was that he thought you might find it bothersome, and besides, he said you would probably come over mostly at night, so he left all the access controls here. When you come, just tell the front desk and it’ll be taken care of."
Li Qing genuinely didn’t know what to say at the moment, as this Lü Zong, a grown man, could sometimes be irritatingly meticulous.
How could he even think of something like this?
The thoughtfulness was almost excessive.
Of course, this was probably also related to Li Qing always preferring not to get involved in any of the group’s affairs.
With the access card in hand, Li Qing took Yu Baishuo to his office.
As all the lights in the room came on, what filled Yu Baishuo’s vision could only be described with one word: grand, luxurious.
Lü Zong had obviously put great effort into Li Qing’s office; whether it was the decor or the arrangements, they were done to perfection, perhaps even surpassing the offices of many big bosses in terms of comprehensive design and lavishness.
"From what I just heard, are you currently in partnership with Lü Changxi?" Yu Baishuo looked around curiously, asking about the environment.
Li Qing nodded, "To be precise, I’ve always been in partnership with him."
"From Wenguan Leaves to working on projects together, as well as the current wine factory, we’ve been cooperating. But the partnerships on Wenguan Leaves and the projects weren’t ideal, the wine factory seems alright, though."
"And this place?" Yu Baishuo asked.
"This is Lü Zong’s private property, I just hold a vice president title in the group, getting paid without working." Li Qing poured Yu Baishuo a glass of red wine and handed it to her.
Used to drinking pure grain alcohol, Li Qing really couldn’t claim to know much about red wine.
But the wine Lü Zong had stocked in his office wasn’t just any ordinary brand, it was exorbitant to drink casually, so he might as well treat himself to a little red to cleanse the palate.
"A ’91 vintage Bordeaux from Château Latour, Lü Changxi is treating you like a highly honored guest," Yu Baishuo scanned the wine bottle in Li Qing’s hand and shook her head with a smile, "Most people would only drink this on very grand occasions, yet you just grab it casually as a beverage."
"Are you saying this stuff is expensive?" Li Qing asked in astonishment.
"It’s definitely not cheap, this wine has a reputation in the Bordeaux region similar to our Mao Tai. But once it gets here, the price jumps by several times," Yu Baishuo said.
Li Qing shook his head and chuckled, "Seems my taste isn’t too bad after all. I was looking for something cheap to drink, and I ended up sipping on gold."
