The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 815: The Finicky Cat
"Ah?!" Qin Wenjun exclaimed in shock, "It... it wants that for what?"
Li Qing didn’t know either; when he first heard it, he had thought he was hallucinating.
This guy was all set to dig through the earth, then, all of a sudden, it became fussy.
"What do you want that thing for?" Li Qing asked.
The orange cat’s almost human-like mouth stretched into a smile, and it gestured at Li Qing while meowing.
Upon hearing what the orange cat meant, Li Qing suddenly felt overwhelmed.
You’re a female cat; why be so picky? Acting as if you’re some high-bred lady who wouldn’t deign to touch spring water.
"Qingzi, what does it mean?" Qin Wenjun pressed for an answer.
Li Qing glanced at the orange cat speechlessly and said, "It says it wants to make some protections against getting dirt all over itself. It needs your headlight cover for its head, and then my coat to cover its back and belly."
Qin Wenjun snorted with laughter, "Da Huang, you’re so fastidious, aren’t you?"
The orange cat waved its paws and meowed somewhat pretentiously.
"She says that a noble cat always keeps away from filth, just like gentlemen avoid kitchens and don’t stand beneath dangerous walls!" Li Qing said dryly.
A cat was actually quibbling over words and flaunting classic references; this fellow clearly wasn’t any ordinary cat.
Qin Wenjun laughed heartily, "Da Huang, you’re quite something. It’s a pity I can’t understand what you’re saying; otherwise, it would be incredibly interesting. If you don’t mind, then it’s yours to use, just wait a moment, alright?"
With that, she turned around, unbuttoned her blazer, and, reaching behind her, took off the headlight cover.
After straightening out her clothes, she asked the orange cat, "What should we do next?"
"Just tie it on her head to cover everything," Li Qing translated from the sidelines.
The headlight cover Qin Wenjun wore was very sexy today; not a rigid hoop, but rather made of a soft material. It was in the style of a minimalist swimsuit, essentially a string leading two small triangle pieces of fabric.
The orange cat gestured on the headlight cover and let out a low meow.
"You unappreciative thing, this is stylish, sexy!" Li Qing couldn’t help but curse. The creature was actually being picky about its practicality.
Qin Wenjun looked up and asked, "Qingzi, does it not like it?"
"It says the thing is too small, not able to cover its entire head," Li Qing complained. "It knows nothing; that’s not what it’s even meant for. What kind of good cat uses that to cover their head?"
Qin Wenjun immediately felt a bit embarrassed. She thought for a moment and then said to the orange cat, "Da Huang, how about this: let me handle it. I promise to wrap you up tightly, to keep dirt from getting on you."
The orange cat meowed in response.
Li Qing, with droopy eyelids, translated, "It says okay, but the protection must be adequate."
Qin Wenjun smiled, "Just watch, Qingzi, take off your coat."
If it weren’t for the fact that they needed this creature to work, Li Qing really wanted to give it a couple of good whacks; such a picky little rascal.
Li Qing wrapped the orange cat with his coat and then used the light cover from Qin Wenjun’s car to shield the cat’s mouth and nose, tying it at the front. A plump cat instantly seemed to transform into a grandmother wolf wearing a black mask.
This creature’s size was already close to that of a wolf, and with this arrangement, it almost perfectly replicated one.
The orange cat meowed contentedly and darted to the spot Li Qing had just pointed out, swinging its paw.
"It seems quite satisfied," Qin Wenjun said with a smile.
Li Qing said somewhat speechlessly, "We wasted two pieces of our clothing, if it dares to be unsatisfied, I’ll deal with it harshly!"
"Qingzi, why are you having it dig a hole?" Qin Wenjun asked, puzzled.
"The real Rat Watch is underground, and then... there are some unpleasant things too. I’m still thinking about how to deal with them," Li Qing said with a bit of a headache. There were so many bones, he couldn’t possibly sort and bury them again.
If taken out, they might cause panic among the villagers. If there’s no other choice, they’ll probably have to be reburied after the Rat Watch is unearthed.
Qin Wenjun suddenly became nervous upon hearing this, "Qingzi, there’s more underneath?"
"Human skeletons, many of them," Li Qing said gravely, "Most likely the work of these rats. When the world is in chaos, these things come out to cause harm to people. They might be victims of these creatures during chaotic times."
"They pose as gods and stir up trouble during peaceful times, and bring disaster during chaotic times—these creatures are basically like that."
Qin Wenjun exclaimed, "What are we going to do with those skeletons then?"
"I was just thinking about that, haven’t figured out what to do yet," Li Qing said, troubled.
After a moment of thought, Qin Wenjun suggested, "Qingzi, how about this... let’s not mess with this place. It’s so creepy, and using it as a gimmick to attract people isn’t really a good idea. If it ends up making some people believe and worship them, it might backfire."
"I think we should do it; we can guide people not to believe in these absurd superstitions," Li Qing said firmly, "Although people nowadays are better at absorbing information, there are still many who believe and worship these evil spirits. Perhaps we could take this opportunity to launch a campaign. If it can save a few people, it would be a good deed."
"But... we can’t just expose those skeletons for everyone to see, right?" Qin Wenjun asked.
After pondering for a moment, Li Qing said, "About that... I might need to ask around since it involves a lot. If it’s feasible, I think they can be exposed. Those who are gone probably wouldn’t want others to follow in their footsteps. We could also take the opportunity to allow people to pay respects to them, which would be the best of both worlds."
"That’s fine, I might need to file an application for this," Qin Wenjun nodded.
"No need, as long as I agree, it’s basically no problem on your end," Li Qing said.
The Ninth Bureau’s authority supersedes many departments.
Li Qing took out his phone and dialed Dian Chunqiu. As he waited for the call to connect, his hand, as if possessed, landed on the prominent peaks of Qin Wenjun’s chest. Without the layer beneath, the sensation instantly multiplied.
With a sultry look in her eyes, Qin Wenjun glared at Li Qing and unbuttoned the third button on her outfit, nodding with her chin towards Li Qing.
Li Qing was immediately delighted, and his hand slipped in like an eel.
Direct contact was indeed more comfortable—the smoothness was soothing and could relieve some of his vexation.
The phone connected.
Dian Chunqiu’s weary voice came through, "Ancestor, what trouble have you brought me now? Handle the small stuff yourself, and don’t bother me with big issues recently, I’m very busy!"
