Chapter 879: Chapter 879: Forbidden Zone

Li Qing looked at the middle-aged man in surprise. Had he just hallucinated?

"Wasn’t it you who said three million? I’ve already agreed to give it to you, how can you call this a trap? Damn it, what’s wrong with you? Do you want it or not?" Li Qing shouted angrily, holding his phone.

The middle-aged man’s eyes flickered, and his expression was uncertain as he looked at Li Qing. Suddenly, he stepped back and shook his head, "No, I don’t want it!"

"Really don’t want it?" Li Qing asked teasingly.

The middle-aged man initially hesitated, but upon hearing Li Qing’s words, he decisively shook his head like a rattle drum, firmly saying, "You’re definitely trying to set me up, brat. I can do without the money, but you have to pay for my medical expenses!"

"Tsk tsk, how can you not want it?" Li Qing asked with a sneer on his lips, "How much are the medical expenses?"

"I don’t know, I have to see a doctor to know. Whatever the doctor says is what it will cost!" the middle-aged man said.

He became obviously cautious, not falling into Li Qing’s trap at all.

"Alright then, since you’re being so generous, there isn’t much more to say I guess. I wish you a speedy recovery," Li Qing said with a smile.

The middle-aged man glared at Li Qing resentfully, his expression almost twisted.

Just then, Wang Baichuan arrived with several police officers.

"Director, Qingzi, is there a problem?" he asked, somewhat surprised as he glanced at the middle-aged men, then asked.

Director Jia, with a hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth, said, "Qingzi just provided us with some clues. These people were gathering in the woods doing those kinds of things; it was extremely chaotic. You handle it."

"Okay," Wang Baichuan nodded and said to Lin Qing, "Qingzi, it looks like I need to find time to present you with a banner of honor."

"Watch how you speak, Officer Wang. We have a lot more cooperation ahead of us. If you keep being sarcastic with me, I can’t guarantee I won’t run faster than you next time or maybe give you a chance to receive a banner too," Li Qing said with a laugh.

Wang Baichuan was taken aback, shaking his head with a resigned chuckle, then said to the middle-aged men, "Please cooperate and come with us."

The one in the front, whose finger Li Qing had broken earlier, suddenly looked as if he had seen a ghost. "Officer, don’t mess around, alright? From what I remember, you need to catch us in the act, right?"

"We do need to catch you in the act, but haven’t you already been caught?" Wang Baichuan pointed at Li Qing and said blandly, "This guy is also one of ours. Any objections?"

The middle-aged man looked at Li Qing in disbelief and asked, "Even he is one of you? Officer, don’t talk nonsense!"

"Quit staring; his rank is higher than mine," Wang Baichuan snickered.

The middle-aged man’s expression went blank, as if he had been hit over the head with a stick.

He seemed somewhat unconvinced, but also seemed at a loss for what to say next.

Wang Baichuan arranged for a few police officers to take the group of middle-aged men back to the station. After handling everything, he laughingly said to Li Qing, "Qingzi, I’m really curious, how did you find them?"

"Just wandering around and stumbled upon them," Li Qing said earnestly, "Send me whatever that guy’s medical expenses end up being. I dared not to take the three million, but I still have to get the medical expenses, right? We need to follow some rules nowadays, or else I’m worried some people might invite me for tea!"

"Cut out the snide remarks; we indeed have to follow some rules, or else how are we supposed to work in the future?" Wang Baichuan scolded with a laugh, "You’re holding quite a bit of power now, but if you don’t follow the rules yourself, how are you supposed to handle things?"

Li Qing nodded repeatedly, "Right, right, Officer Wang’s reprimand is correct."

Wang Baichuan stared at Li Qing speechlessly for a moment, "I’m being serious."

"I’m sincerely convinced, no jokes, no insincerity," Li Qing said.

Frustrated, Wang Baichuan raised his hand and landed a punch on Li Qing’s shoulder, "Can’t we have a proper conversation?"

"Hey, I’m just speaking the truth. Can’t you stop misunderstanding me?" Li Qing retorted with a laugh.

"Enough, both of you, let’s focus on sorting things out here," Director Jia shouted when he saw them.

In his eyes, neither of them was serious at all.

Wang Baichuan immediately straightened up, and Li Qing also put aside his joking demeanor.

The two then divided the tasks, each responsible for a section of the area, encircling the entire Burning Man Valley with a chain-link fence and hanging signs marking it as a restricted area. This place, already a restricted area, was now officially recognized as one.

But merely installing a chain-link fence was not enough, and soon, telecommunication workers rushed over and densely installed a circle of surveillance cameras around the area. However, at that moment, something went wrong.

During the inspection, not a single camera worked properly.

All the cameras, without exception, showed nothing but static or a black screen—nothing was visible.

This left the telecommunication workers completely baffled, unsure of what could have gone wrong.

They checked repeatedly; the lines and everything else were fine, but there was no image.

As the rightful person in charge, Li Qing was called over by Director Jia.

He was asked if there was anything out of the ordinary.

The elder was already on edge, suspecting that something unexpected was about to happen.

Li Qing knew immediately what the issue was—it must have been due to the magnetic field.

He asked the telecommunication workers to move the cameras to the position where Director Jia had initially planned to install the chain-link fence.

After they reinstalled the cameras, the images were still a bit unstable, but they were mostly normal.

Although Director Jia, out of caution, had demanded cameras to be installed all around, Li Qing felt this was somewhat unnecessary.

Because the restricted area was not a dead zone, it was spiritual and still in its growth phase.

So unless something unexpected happens, these cameras would likely become useless after a while.

Especially the cameras near the forests on the periphery would definitely need to be removed.

But seeing how tense Director Jia was, Li Qing didn’t push further. These devices were, after all, a form of security assurance in Director Jia’s mind. Since he felt relieved by their installation, they might as well leave them there for now until signs of expansion in the restricted area appeared, and then it would be time to move them.

Countless police and engineering vehicles parked beside Burning Man Valley attracted the attention of many onlookers.

Currently, the village had many outsiders, and even a small gathering was a large crowd.

Although no one understood what had happened or why signs declaring it a restricted area were necessary, or why it was encircled with fences, the red, blood-like color of Burning Man Valley, taking the shape of an open hand, still drew countless people’s attention.

Even some audacious ones came closer to take photos and shoot videos.

This scene made Director Jia even more nervous, and he forcefully ordered the security lines to be moved hundreds of meters outwards, barring the crowd from coming any closer.
