The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 940: A Man as His Name
Ah Gou, true to his name, had a thievish look with shifty eyes, which really gave him a bit of a dog-like appearance at first glance.
His body wasn’t thin, it could actually pass for that of a muscular man, but his head was markedly small.
The whole person looked extremely uncoordinated, as if his head and body were cobbled together.
Yet it was precisely this man, who appeared so oddly disproportionate, that exuded an overabundance of fierce energy, casting an extremely sinister aura about him.
The fierceness wasn’t so much evident in his face as it was in his demeanor.
Just a glance from his eyes would instantly make you feel like you’re dealing with a desperate fugitive.
He and Wu Yuzong were at opposite extremes.
Wu Yuzong, despite having committed many major crimes and suffering from severe mental illness,
was able to disguise himself so well that he not only seemed normal, but even appeared refined and genteel, doing everything just like an ordinary person would.
In Li Qing’s view, people like Ah Gou who wore their brutality on the outside were actually easier to deal with.
But the ones like Wu Yuzong, who appeared normal on the outside yet were monsters at heart, these people were not only wicked but also extremely intelligent. If they didn’t accidentally slip up, capturing them was often not an easy task.
Just like this time, if it weren’t for the fact that he had a master like Huan Ling Ji by his side, he might not have been able to pry Wu Yuzong’s mouth open, and the case that Director Jia had entrusted to him probably would have come to nothing.
The thought alone sent a chill down Li Qing’s spine right at that moment.
Intelligent, extremely skilled at disguising themselves, heartless, and tough to an utterly terrifying degree.
Li Qing found it hard to imagine what kind of tragedies would ensue if he had let Wu Yuzong escape this time.
Perhaps due to his inability, several more innocent young girls would end up slain by Wu Yuzong.
Or even worse...
Regaining his composure, Li Qing squatted in front of Ah Gou and reached out to grasp his slightly elongated chin, "Looking at you, it seems like you want to bite me? Come on, I’ll let you take a bite as a way to let off some steam, how about that?"
Ah Gou, squinting his fierce eyes, fixated on Li Qing with deadly intent. Then, abruptly, he really did take a bite, clenching onto Li Qing’s arm with all the strength he could muster.
Li Qing, with an air of nonchalance, brushed off his head with a hand, expressing his disdain, "You really are a dog, aren’t you? Are your teeth okay? Don’t lose a few more trying to save a little face."
His Undying Skin might not have been perfected yet, but an attack like that would hardly even put a scratch on Li Qing after all the hard training he had undergone.
Ah Gou, shocked, looked at Li Qing’s unscathed arm and suddenly asked, "Why can’t I bite through?"
That was a good question.
But Li Qing had no intention of giving him an answer.
Li Qing merely smiled faintly and said, "Tough skin and thick flesh, see? So, have you thought about what you’re willing to say yet?"
Ah Gou sneered dismissively and turned his head away, refusing to engage with Li Qing any further.
Li Qing wasn’t upset; he remained composed, "No matter, if you won’t cooperate, we have ways of making you. I’m not asking you to beg for an answer, I’m giving you a chance. If you persist in being obstinate, then the end result for you will naturally be a terrible death. Understand? A terrible death, not a peaceful and unaware passing."
"Our methods are different from the usual; don’t expect any humane treatment here. We don’t play by those rules. However, if you decide to talk now and give us a clear picture of your superiors and subordinates, maybe you can earn yourself some merit and have some of these punishments reduced."
Ah Gou remained unmoved, his eyes brimming with even more disdain.
Apparently, in his view, Li Qing was just talking big.
Li Qing nodded, "Alright, I’ve gone through the motions. As long as you’re aware that’s my job done. Let’s not waste any more time and get started."
Li Qing stood up and stretched his limbs. He then said to Wang Baichuan, "Clear out the people around here. I think it’s enough for just you and Director Jia to stay, to validate the results we get, so it won’t be awkward later."
"Just do what you have to do. There’s no need to worry about this. Are we going to doubt you?" Wang Baichuan said irritably. "With you involved, you can’t imagine how much trouble you’ve saved us."
"Since we are working on this case together, it’s different from before," Li Qing said with a smile.
In the past, Director Jia and Wang Baichuan would assist the Ninth Bureau’s operations, and their jurisdiction was limited to the periphery.
But in this current case, both parties’ authority was equal.
Therefore, Li Qing couldn’t afford to be too negligent with some procedures.
"What is this crap you’re talking about, my boy? Just crack the case," said Director Jia with a laugh. "If you try to pull this with the two of us, I’ll get mad, so get a move on."
Li Qing nodded and single-handedly hoisted Ah Gou off the ground.
Ah Gou’s expression was becoming a little uneasy; his small eyes whirling like a carriage wheel, it seemed they might roll out of his narrow eye sockets any second now.
At this moment, he seemed to finally believe a bit of what Li Qing was saying.
But the vicious look on his face did not ease in the slightest; he seemed to believe but had yet to make up his mind.
Li Qing, holding Ah Gou, suddenly turned to Wang Baichuan, "How about you turn off that camera for a while?"
Wang Baichuan had already turned on the recorder on his way here, and it was recording at this very moment.
"Is there something that can’t be recorded?" asked Wang Baichuan.
Li Qing nodded very seriously.
Wang Baichuan chuckled and turned off the recorder, "It’s only because I’m working with you guys that I haven’t broken the rules yet. We can’t do things this way. Alright, now do whatever you need to do; apart from the few pairs of eyes here, not the slightest bit will leak out."
Li Qing nodded again, then suddenly raised his hand and slapped Ah Gou hard across the face.
Ah Gou was struck dumb.
The searing pain made his cheek twitch wildly, and he suddenly yelled, "Police! Won’t you do anything? This bastard is hitting people! He’s hitting people!"
Director Jia very calmly handed Wang Baichuan a cigarette, then the two of them turned away.
"Qingzi, take it easy. This guy’s body is fragile and might not withstand many hits from you," said Huan Ling Ji suddenly. "I think at most you can deal him about forty or fifty slaps, no more than that. Use that as your gauge and estimate accordingly."
"You bastard, you can’t take a beating? Where did all these muscles come from?" Li Qing asked angrily, "Dammit, you’re making it so I can’t even use my full strength when beating someone. You’re useless!"
