The Headline Queen: President Hawthorne is Her Die-Hard Fan!-Chapter 521: Overthinking
After a long pause, Henry Hale sighed, "Let’s reconcile, stop arguing."
He looked at Paige Sterling, "If I die now, it’s no good for you either. It’s very difficult to get out of here alone."
Paige didn’t speak, unsure if that counted as agreeing.
Seeing this, Henry didn’t say anything either, just kept looking at Paige.
His gaze made Paige very uncomfortable, sticky and unsettling. Paige coldly said, "Take your eyes off me."
Henry chuckled, "Alright."
Then he looked away and said, "In a dangerous situation, I didn’t leave you. I can be considered your lifesaver. Isn’t it ungrateful for you to treat me like this?"
"You really are shameless."
If Henry hadn’t tied her up, would she have encountered all this?
And those people came for Henry, not for her.
Clearly, she was dragged into this mess because of Henry.
"Compared to Julian Hawthorne, don’t you think I’m much better?" Henry said, "The shameless things Julian has done aren’t any less than mine, are they?"
Paige glanced at him with disdain, as if she thought he truly wasn’t even worthy of being compared to Julian.
Henry’s expression darkened and he didn’t speak for a long time.
Meanwhile, Paige closed her eyes to rest.
Henry looked at her occasionally, with a somewhat complicated expression.
After a while, Henry suddenly noticed that Paige’s body began to tremble.
Could it be a side effect occurring again?
Henry propped himself up and moved over, "Paige, are you alright?"
Paige curled up into a ball, seemingly unresponsive to the outside world, only her body kept trembling.
Henry didn’t know what to do. He pulled the blanket over and covered Paige, feeling a deep regret for his actions.
But if this was the only way to take Paige away, even if he went back to the past, he would still choose this method.
"Paige, hold on, it will be okay soon."
Slowly, Paige’s trembling stopped, but she was covered in sweat, looking very uncomfortable. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
At that moment, Alla walked in from outside, saw Paige like that, and assumed Henry had harmed her, so she forcefully pushed Henry.
Henry fell, tugging on his wound, and nearly fainted from the pain.
Alla glared at him, then went to check on Paige and realized it seemed to be her period.
On ordinary days, when Paige had her period, she wouldn’t feel this uncomfortable. In fact, she hardly noticed it and could still go to work.
But now, after being injected with Henry’s potion, her immune system was down, and she was already feeling unwell, making her period even worse.
Now she suffered from backache, her abdomen felt heavy, and she was dizzy.
She hadn’t felt this pain in a long time.
If Julian were here, she could subconsciously rely on him, and Julian would quickly find a way to alleviate her pain.
But now that Julian wasn’t here, she could only grit her teeth and endure it herself.
Alla boiled hot water and put it in a glass bottle, wrapped it in a towel, and placed it on Paige’s abdomen. She also made brown sugar water for Paige to drink.
Her brows were furrowed with worry, and compared to Henry’s dry comfort, Alla’s actions were much more sincere.
Luckily, Alla didn’t know the root cause of Paige’s pain was Henry. Otherwise, Henry might have been beaten to death by Alla.
In a drowsy state, Paige started to call Julian’s name, her voice was indistinct but full of trust.
Henry’s expression was complex, and he couldn’t sleep all night.
When Paige woke up the next day, she was much better, but she looked more exhausted than before, extremely weak.
Henry moved closer to Paige’s side. Paige, with a strong front but a weak heart, coldly said, "Stay away from me."
Seeing her cold, hostile expression, Henry awkwardly said, "I just wanted to see if you were feeling better."
"Thanks to you, I’m not dead yet."
Paige usually doesn’t hold grudges, but the grudge against Henry, she remembers firmly.
If there’s a chance, she’ll definitely give Henry the most painful way to die.
Henry said, "It’s my fault, I had no choice. I hope you can forgive me..."
Paige, "..."
Henry said, "We’re now relying on each other for survival. I just want to care for you. Why push me away so harshly?"
Paige couldn’t be bothered to look at his fake deceitful face.
"Mr. Hale, I suggest you speak human language. Otherwise, I’m afraid I might not be able to hold back and vomit on you again."
Henry suddenly went quiet.
He realized that no matter what he said now, it wouldn’t change Paige’s view of him, because the pain she suffered was real.
He would make it up to Paige in the future. Over time, Paige would eventually forgive him.
To help Paige recover, Alla even killed the only chicken they had at home to make chicken soup for Paige, and she didn’t drink a sip herself, nor did she give any to Henry.
So the chicken soup and meat were all for Paige.
For Henry, Alla just casually tossed him whatever she could find, as long as he didn’t starve to death. Whether it tasted good or not, she didn’t care.
Seeing Alla’s blatant partiality, Henry couldn’t help but wonder if she had some special feelings for Paige.
Henry was used to a good life, and now he had to eat this kind of food every day, especially with Paige enjoying good meals right in front of him, he couldn’t wait to leave this place.
Although the conditions weren’t good, Henry recovered quickly and could walk around after two days.
But Paige was still weak, lying in bed, whether truly incapable of moving or just being lazy, she seemed utterly dejected.
Initially, Paige intended to use some of Alla’s belongings to make some self-defense tools.
But later she found out there were very few usable items, not enough to make anything.
Plus, her body didn’t allow it, so she had to temporarily give up.
Watching Henry walk out after getting out of bed, a glint of coldness flashed in her eyes.
Henry went directly to the kitchen.
The kitchen was simple, set up beside the house. Alla was inside, seemingly cooking something delicious.
Henry knew that whatever she was making, none of it would be for him.
And Alla looked as if she was afraid he would come to snatch it, blocking him from entering the kitchen and said a long string of words.
Henry could vaguely guess what Alla was saying, indeed worried he would come to snatch the food.
So Henry had to stand at the doorway, scanning the kitchen with his eyes.
Alla gave him those tasteless and non-nutritious things every day; Henry always thought it was because Alla’s family was too poor.
But seeing Alla’s kitchen now, he realized he’d overthought.
