The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 240 I’m not going anywhere
The New Year vibe was lively. Mr. Lewis let out a hearty laugh. "Megan really sees straight to the core. My granddaughter’s smart, no doubt!"
Samuel curled his lips. "Grandpa, you’re clearly biased. Always siding with the girls."
Just then, Mrs. Lewis jumped in. "Biased toward girls? I never saw him treat Wendy that well!"
The room went quiet. Everyone turned to her.
She seemed rattled by the sudden silence, her voice turning shaky. "Did I say something wrong? Did any of you ever care about her? All you ever wanted was to get rid of her! She ended up burning to death in prison, and every one of you is to blame—blood on your hands!"
Mr. Lewis slammed the table. "Still the same nonsense! Can’t even enjoy a peaceful New Year’s dinner with you around! Are you doing this just to fight with everyone?"
"Mom, it’s New Year’s Eve. Why are you bringing this up now?" Zachary frowned. "And didn’t you already find out whether Wendy really died or not?"
Mrs. Lewis’s hands trembled, her voice cracked with emotion. "All of you pushed her to the edge. Wendy was such a good girl, but you forced her into desperation..."
"Grandma, come on—enough of the crocodile tears," Samuel leaned back, lazy and unimpressed. "You talk like she was some innocent angel. From the age of four or five, she had already mastered the sweet-innocent act. Always setting me up to get sympathy and attention. You know how many times I got hit because of her? The other brothers didn’t have it easy either. That’s your ’good girl’?"
Oliver Lewis spoke up, calm as ever, unfazed. "Grandma, I never liked to talk about Wendy much. But since we’re airing truths tonight—she planned the accident that hurt Mom and Megan, ordered the kidnapping of Chloe Shaw, and was involved in the wreck that killed her own mother. She’s not as pure as you want to believe."
"Even so, it’s because you all cornered her! If you’d treated her right, she wouldn’t have done those things!" Mrs. Lewis shouted.
Mr. Lewis slapped her across the face without hesitation, leaving five red finger marks.
Her teeth chattered. "You... you dare hit me?"
"Zachary, take her to the temple. From now on, she’s not allowed back in the dining room."
Zachary nodded and got up, walking over to her.
Clutching her cheek, Mrs. Lewis glared hateful daggers around the room. Her gaze swept over to Michelle, and she let out a cold sneer. "To me, Jason and Wendy were the perfect match. Who do you think you are?"
She stormed out of the kitchen.
Michelle bit her lip, her lashes low, clearly shaken.
Suddenly, a warm hand gently covered her cold fingers. "Sorry... you shouldn’t have to put up with this."
Michelle shook her head. "Maybe she just misses that girl too much."
Jason tightened his grip slightly. "Don’t put any thought into it. The only one I’ve ever cared about is you."
Michelle gave a soft "mm" in reply.
That New Year’s Eve dinner ended early thanks to Mrs. Lewis’s outburst.
Afterward, everyone drifted off to their own business. Stella noticed how late it had gotten and offered to let Michelle stay the night.
Jason instinctively glanced at Tristan, who just smiled a little and said nothing.
Jason immediately understood—it was a silent green light. If Tristan had disagreed, he would’ve shut it down on the spot.Stella led Michelle upstairs to a guest room on the third floor, holding her hand gently. She had the housekeeper bring over fresh sheets, blankets, and pillows.
"This is your room from now on," Stella said, patting Michelle’s hand with a smile. "Once you and Jason get married, you can move into his room. I’m not some old-fashioned aunt, you know. Jason’s been single for thirty years—just worried you might get overwhelmed. If someday you change your mind, at least you’re not stuck suffering."
Michelle lowered her head, a little shy. "Thanks for thinking of me, Auntie."
"Thinking of what? Leaving me and finding someone else?" Jason had walked in without them noticing, pulling Michelle gently into his arms.
Stella raised a brow at the lovebirds and teased, clicking her tongue as she backed out, thoughtfully shutting the door behind her.
With Michelle nestled in his embrace, she hooked her arms around Jason’s neck, looking up playfully. "Still thinking of other options?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Michelle shook her head. "You’re the best there is. Once you walked into my life, no one else even stood a chance."
Jason chuckled softly, eyes sparkling. "Just walked into your eyes, huh? When did I sneak into your heart?"
Michelle leaned up on her tiptoes and planted a light kiss on his lips. "Already there," she whispered.
She brought her lips close to his ear, breath warm. "That was my first kiss."
Jason’s eyes darkened with emotion, and he tilted his head, kissing her again—slow, deep, and intoxicating. The softness of her lips made his heart skip.
The kiss deepened. Michelle’s knees went weak under the intensity.
After a long, breathless moment, Jason finally pulled back, panting lightly. He brushed his lips against the curve of her neck. "I should go."
"Can’t stay and hold me a bit longer?"
Jason swallowed hard. "I might not be able to stop myself."
Michelle’s cheeks burned scarlet. She sat on the bed and grabbed the blanket, hiding her face behind it.
Jason was halfway to the door but paused, catching the glimpse of her blushing behind the covers. He couldn’t resist.
He turned and leapt back onto the bed, gently pinning her down.
They kissed again, warm and messy, their passion bubbling under the surface. Her shirt was now wrinkled beyond saving.
She gave him a light push and whispered, "You should go."
He smoothed her messy bangs and kissed her forehead like a promise. "Goodnight."
As Jason stepped out the door, Michelle watched him go, her lips curling into a soft smile.
Once outside, Jason leaned against the door, exhaling deeply. If it wasn’t inside the Lewis house tonight, things might’ve gone a lot further.
Her scent. Her lips. That innocent, lovely face... everything about her pulled him in like gravity.
Grinning, he made his way downstairs, looping around to the second floor. But just as he reached his room, he spotted Tristan leaning against the wall.
Tristan had one leg straight, the other casually bent. Smoke curled from the cigarette between his fingers, lingering in the corridor air.
Through the haze, Tristan smirked. "So... sweet, huh?"
Jason licked his lips and nodded. "Yeah, ridiculously sweet." He pushed open the door. "Get in already."
Tristan walked in and flopped onto the couch, chain-smoking as if he had nothing better to do.
"You good?" Jason asked after the fifth cigarette.
Tristan exhaled. "Nah. Just needed a fix. Figured your place was the safest spot. Go to bed, man."
With that, he left, pacing the hallway to air out the smoke before heading back to his room.
Inside, Megan was on a call. Tristan’s eyebrows shot up. "Chloe or Rachel?"
Megan grinned, eyes twinkling. "Called both. Guess again."
Tristan’s face went dark. "Karl."
He snatched the phone from her. "Happy New Year, Karl!"
Karl chuckled at his sarcastic tone. "Happy New Year to you too, mutt."
