The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 286 I wish you a lifetime of happiness
The early morning sunlight slipped through the narrow gap in the curtains.
Megan opened her eyes with a soft smile. "Morning, hubby."
Tristan was lying on his side, propping his head up with one hand, not taking his eyes off her. "Good morning, my Megan."
"You’ve got dark circles under your eyes?"
He gave a quiet hum. "With a beauty like you beside me, how could I sleep? That’s just straight-up torture."
Megan chuckled and wrapped her arms around his waist, nuzzling her cheek into his firm chest. He’d lost some weight, but he still felt solid as ever.
"You’ll be fine once the baby’s born. What time is it now?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Eight-fifteen."
Megan yawned. "Still got time then."
"Not if you keep lazing around."
Last night, Tristan had refused to leave Jason’ room. He was convinced something was up with everyone acting weird. He couldn’t stop overthinking so he just kept sticking around Jason until Jason caved and told him about the plan for today.
Tristan was so hyped, he didn’t sleep a wink. Now his eyes had a faint purplish tint to them.
Megan looked up, confused. "Why wouldn’t we have time? The guests won’t be here till noon, and it’s not like we’ve got anything to do."
Tristan sat up and gently helped her up too. He kissed her hand. "Megan, will you marry me?"
She blinked at him, clearly baffled. "Aren’t we already married? We’ve got the marriage certificate and everything."
"Would you still say yes?"
Looking at his dead serious face, she burst out laughing. "Nope!"
Tristan swooped in and kissed her hard. "Too bad, you’re saying yes anyway."
Megan pinched his cheek with a grin. "All I’ve ever wanted in this life is to marry you, for you to put the white dress on me."
"And then take it off, personally," he added with a smirk.
"You’re so bad!" Megan giggled, trying to hold back her laugh. "You’re acting weird today!"
Right then, someone knocked on the door.
Tristan jumped out of bed barefoot, clearly eager as he quickly went to answer it.
In walked Emily, holding a white wedding gown carefully in both hands, a smile playing at her lips. "Megan, Tristan, congrats on the wedding."
Megan was stunned. "Wait, isn’t today Jason’s birthday party?"
Brandon tossed a white shirt, tie, and a suit at Tristan, adjusting his glasses. "That was just a cover."
"Hey! Who are you calling a cover?" came Samuel’ indignant voice. "I did all the balloon work and packed all the party favors! I’m a key player, thank you very much!"
Oliver gave him a lazy glance. "You’re the textbook definition of a supporting role. You get one line and you think you’re the lead."
Jason leaned casually against the wall, hands in his pockets. "Tristan pestered me all night in my room. I gave in and spilled everything. He probably didn’t get a minute of sleep."
Tristan chuckled, lowering his head. "Not even a second. Thank you all for pulling off this amazing surprise for me and Megan."
Megan suddenly thought back to what Stella had said before they left for the Maldives—something about a surprise.
So this was it?
Her heart swelled, tears welled up in her eyes.
Stella stepped out from the crowd, her eyes already red. She sat on the bed and took Megan’s hand in hers. "Megan, my sweet girl, congrats on your wedding."
Megan’s eyes brimmed with tears. "This really was a surprise. But...""I know what you’re worried about," Stella said softly, pulling Megan into a gentle hug. "I already went to see Diane. You were going to be in mourning, after all, so I asked for her forgiveness myself. She raised you all those years—I think, more than anything, she’d want you to have no regrets." She smiled, brushing Megan’s hair gently. "And today, you’re the most stunning bride there ever was."
Zachary handed a small box to Tristan. "I know you two already have rings, but I still made a trip to Dreamscape Manor to pick them up."
Tristan nodded gratefully. "Thanks... Dad."
Zachary chuckled. "Both families will be here soon. We kept it under wraps so the surprise wouldn’t blow."
Emily walked over with a grin. "The dress is gorgeous—your mom picked it. Maybe not up to Megan’s design standards, but hopefully it passes."
"Is it Rona’s work?" Megan asked, raising an eyebrow.
Emily blinked. "You can tell?"
"Rona’s signature touches are unmistakable," Megan smiled. "Nobody designs like her—not even me. Mom, thank you... really. You went through a lot for this."
Stella’s eyes softened. "Sweetheart, after all the years I wasn’t there, the least I can do now is walk you down the aisle... to the man who loves you most."
Emily got a bit teary-eyed. She had seen everything Megan and Tristan had weathered. She sniffled, trying to smile. "Come on, let’s try on your gown."
Megan nodded and turned to the guys. "Alright, gentlemen—out, all of you! Bride’s getting changed."
The men scrambled out, laughter trailing behind them.
Now it was just Megan, Stella, and Emily in the room.
The moment the door clicked shut, Megan broke down, covering her face as tears poured.
"I dreamed of this day," she choked out. "But with the mourning period, I thought it couldn’t happen. And now with Tristan’s health... he’s so fragile, I’m terrified I’ll lose him any day." Her shoulders trembled. "I keep telling him it’ll get better, like there’s hope—but I’m just lying to myself. I thought... maybe I’d never get this moment."
"Don’t cry, baby." Stella gently wiped her daughter’s tears. "Diane would want you to be happy, always. I even visited Mr. Shaw... paid my respects. Megan, remember—no storm lasts forever. And the Lewis family is behind you, no matter what. Now get up, alright? It’s your wedding day."
Megan wiped at her face and went to rinse off.
When she stepped back out, she froze at the sight near the door.
"Mia?"
"Lila Moore! Congratulations!" Mia beamed, pulling her into a big hug. "Your mom called me. Said I had to be the one to get you ready. Look at this—whole kit’s fresh, cost me a fortune."
Megan stared at the makeup case in surprise. "Thanks."
Mia tugged her to the vanity. "For someone like you, only the best makeup will do. Didn’t know what to bring as a gift—you pretty much have it all—so I figured, why not give you the most beautiful bridal look today?"
Emily chuckled behind her hand. "Honestly, Megan doesn’t even need makeup to look amazing."
Mia nodded. "True, but hey, touch it up a bit and—bam! Perfection."
Mia started prepping her face with careful precision. "Lila, I wish you a lifetime of happiness."
Megan’s eyes turned misty again. "Thanks, Mia."
"Don’t cry, babe. You’re gonna be just fine. Good people get good endings. That foundation you set up? You’ve changed so many kids’ lives. Everything will fall into place."
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
