Chapter 101: Single for a Millennium

After getting off work, Joanna Sutton went to the villa to visit Rachel Royce, bringing a lot of things with her.

Rachel sighed helplessly. "You guys are making it seem like I’ve just recovered from a major illness."

Joanna said, "Well, looking at you now, it’s not much different from recovering from a major illness. And Mr. Quinn just had to make you attend that dinner with the people from Cedarwood yesterday. When President Jennings gets back, I’m going to report him."

Rachel said, "You’re being too unfair to Mr. Quinn."

The three of them chatted idly.

Later, they went downstairs to play with the children.

「Before dinner.」

Peter Preston and Thomas Sterling returned to the villa.

When Joanna Sutton saw Thomas Sterling, she said, "Coming here to freeload every day, have you paid for your meals?"

Florence Preston had just mentioned this while they were chatting.

Florence Preston smiled kindly. "Yes! He’s very handsome and charming."

Thomas’s lips curled up as he looked at Joanna smugly. "You hear that?"

Joanna looked at Florence. "Miss Preston, don’t spoil this rotten kid."

Dinner was especially lively that evening.

Wendy Royce and Florence Preston were particularly happy, and Wendy brought out a bottle of wine she had been saving.

「After dinner.」

Peter Preston, Thomas Sterling, Joanna Sutton, and June Jennings played cards in the living room for a while, with Rachel Royce playing June’s hand for her.

Florence Preston and Wendy Royce kept the two children company.

Joanna and June got ready to go home.

Wendy and Florence told them to come over and visit often.

His type was also the most popular among young women.

He had never been short of admirers.

In the past, someone trying to pursue him had even come directly to their house, showering Florence Preston with all sorts of gifts to win her over.

But in the end, Peter had sternly rejected her, and the girl was left heartbroken.

Even now, people would occasionally try to sound Florence out, hoping to set Peter up with someone.

June asked, "Then what kind of girls does your brother like?"

So even though June was now a mother and had gone through a marriage full of betrayal, her personality was still very innocent. She still saw the good in everything and hadn’t lost faith in love and marriage.

Rachel said, "He’s practically been single for a thousand years. He’s never even been in a relationship, so who knows what kind of girl he likes."

June was shocked, then worried. "It’s not... a problem with his sexual orientation, is it?"

Rachel replied, "Don’t worry, that’s definitely not it. He’s just a workaholic, too busy for romance."

June was relieved. "In that case, Rachel, could you give me a copy of your old diet plan? I feel like I shouldn’t keep letting myself go like this."

Rachel said, "Why don’t you and Stella just move in here? I can supervise you. Otherwise, I’m afraid you won’t last ten minutes."

June asked, "Really? Can I?"

Rachel said, "Of course."

June agreed in a heartbeat.

Then she immediately called her brother.

She was currently living with her brother nearby.

Julian Jennings didn’t say much, only reminding her to be mindful of her manners in someone else’s home.

After hanging up, Julian Jennings called Rachel Royce.

"I’m not disturbing you, am I?"

Rachel replied, "No. June called you, didn’t she?"

"Yes," Julian said with a hum. "It’ll be an imposition on Miss Preston and the others."

"My mom and the others love having a full house. And now Bobby will have someone to play with."

Julian then asked her about the collaboration discussion with Cedarwood.

"By the way, are you free on Friday afternoon?"

Rachel asked, "Why?"

Julian said, "I have two classes to teach, but from the looks of things, I probably won’t make it back in time. I already have the course materials prepared."

Rachel agreed without hesitation. "No problem. Send me the course materials tomorrow, and I’ll take a look."

"Okay, then."

「The next day.」

Rachel told Florence Preston and Wendy Royce that June would be coming to stay for a while. Of course, they both welcomed her enthusiastically. It wasn’t like they were short on space, and having another child around would make things livelier.

Florence asked the housekeeper to prepare a bedroom.

A driver brought June and her daughter over. Stella was thrilled to learn she would be staying with her godmother.

As a gesture of goodwill, June brought gifts for Florence Preston, Wendy Royce, and Peter Preston. She gave Florence a Tahitian pearl necklace, Wendy a set of imported fishing rods and tea, and Peter a bottle of men’s cologne.

Unable to refuse June’s enthusiastic generosity, Florence and Wendy accepted the gifts.

After getting the mother and daughter settled in and having lunch, Rachel left for work. She wasn’t feeling as unwell today. She went to the financial media company, as there was work to be handled there.

Unexpectedly, she ran into someone right after entering the company building.
