The Husband I Snatched Is Not Right!-Chapter 188: Death Would Be Too Easy for You
But Yu Tingwan quickly changed her mind.
"No."
"Dying would be too easy for them."
With a single stab, they’d just stop breathing.
The girl squatted down, twisted her wrist, and revealed the sleeve arrow. She pressed a spot, and a sharp blade sprang out.
"A woman who’s always got chatter about paying for pleasure on her lips, relying on the fact that she bore a son to continue the incense for the Hu Family, receiving approval from her in-laws, and with her husband’s tacit consent, your face is disgusting, isn’t it? You took pleasure in driving her to death."
"You incite this one and that one. Truly impressive skills."
"One greedy and vicious, the other hypocritical and pretentious. Both are beasts, no wonder you’re a couple." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
She pressed the blade against Mrs. Wang: "You should live strenuously like a deathless soul, to taste what true despair is."
With a downward push, the blade shot out straight, embedding deep into Mrs. Wang’s body.
Blood splattered everywhere.
"Ah!"
Yu Tingwan coldly watched as Mrs. Wang writhed on the ground.
She had killed chickens and ducks before but had never harmed a human, her hand trembled slightly, retreating a few steps, but there was not a trace of emotion in her eyes.
This was not enough.
Far from enough.
Shunzi understood the signal from Yu Tingwan.
Of all, the Wei Family Army were the most adept at torture. He was no exception, advancing towards Hu Dazhu, swiftly pinning him down.
He twisted the arm, snapping it with a brutal force.
With a ’crack’, a piercing wail rang out.
The arm Hu Dazhu once used to gather grains with his broken bowl was forcibly twisted off.
Yes, twisted.
Flesh and blood were mangled.
Hu Dazhu twitched in agony, even the discarded arm thrown aside by Shunzi, its fingers still trembled shakily.
Hu Dalang awoke from his stupor, terrified.
He rushed forward frantically, attempting to drag Shunzi away, to no avail.
Yu Tingwan remained unmoved: "During the famine that year, the living villagers were fewer than the dead."
Even in the Village Chief’s household, more than half were gone.
"But your Hu Family were all well intact."
No harm came to any.
Hu Dalang: "Wan Niang, for what happened back then, I’m willing to atone for their sins, will you spare my parents?"
Yu Tingwan looked at Hu Dalang.
Among them, Hu Dalang was somewhat sincere to her.
But so what?
"Atone?"
She gently reminded, "But you were born a sin."
Hu Dalang struggled to speak: "I know those words are shameless..."
Yu Tingwan was silent, her clear cold eyes impassively staring at him.
Hu Dalang suddenly found himself speechless.
Though he had just been born that year.
Yet his aunt’s tragedy was indirectly caused by him.
Every grain fed to him at home was like a blood-soaked bun.
But...
Seeing the scene before him, how could he just stand by?
Hu Dalang knelt down: "Wan Niang, I beg you."
He pulled Hu Yaozu beside him, anxiously: "Say something!"
Hu Yaozu’s brow furrowed, his face stern.
He looked directly at Yu Tingwan, anger evident on his face.
"If you want to throw a tantrum, fine. But this is too much."
"It’s true Wei Shen is of the Wei Family Army, but you can’t use this to act recklessly!"
"There are laws of the land, even if my parents were guilty, you can’t carry out vigilante justice."
"No one can be held accountable for what happened back then, the family can’t go on, sometimes propriety and shame mean nothing at all."
He held back, trying to speak reasonably.
"...You should also be aware, as long as it wasn’t trafficking, the human traffickers traversed clear roads with money and goods exchanging hands openly, their deeds all officially sanctioned at the Government Office, and therefore cannot be pursued further."
He spoke with certainty: "Yet you coming to the Hu Family to provoke trouble and resort to violence, I can report and have you convicted."
"Hush."
Yu Tingwan signaled for him to stop.
The girl looked towards the distant mountains.
In moments, a Black Shadow appeared in the courtyard.
It was the Wei Family Army usually keeping watch over Fu Hu.
In the next instant, he respectfully saluted Yu Tingwan: "The graves of Mrs. Hu and Old Man Hu have been dug up."
Only then did Yu Tingwan turn back to Hu Yaozu: "Go on, continue."
Hu Yaozu: "Grave... grave digging?"
He found it hard to believe, yet was particularly furious.
"All these years of the Hu Family raising you, I’d think their merits and faults balance out."
Hu Yaozu: "Don’t let a moment of anger lead you to a great mistake."
"You’ve struck people, and my parents are injured now as well. Isn’t this enough?"
"I’m deeply sorry for what happened to aunt, and I will make amends for you in the future. But those from the past have passed, why cling endlessly?"
The Village Chief felt a chill in his heart.
Although he found Yu Tingwan quite unreasonable, still... there was rationale to her actions.
When Hu Dazhu brought Wan Niang back, he should’ve known if exposed, whether he could bear it.
But for someone like Hu Yaozu, a scholar, to say such words was truly heartless.
It almost made Yu Tingwan want to laugh.
Among the father and son, Hu Yaozu was the most alike to Hu Dazhu.
"Why doesn’t your mother sell herself?"
Yu Tingwan trembled with anger: "She’s given birth, can serve men, can entertain guests, why not sell? Bare the clothes, with a little effort she might even bring you a few more unidentified brothers."
"The Hu Family may have poor morals, but their line always thrives."
Hu Yaozu didn’t expect Yu Tingwan to speak so crudely but was fiercely struck on the head by Shunzi.
A loud ’bang’ resonated.
Hu Yaozu only felt his head being flattened, with his brain ready to spill out.
Shunzi: "I’ve endured you for long enough! What’s wrong with your mouth, dragging it out so awfully!"
Shunzi: "You still think you’re something special?"
"Reporting to officials? Spit!"
"Even if officials came, they’d have to treat our madam with respect! Just because you studied a few years, you think you’re somebody? Still droning on about state laws?"
"Short-sighted pretentious fool."
He swung another fierce slap.
Then facing Yu Tingwan, he quickly replaced it with a smiling face.
He was proactive: "Madam, there’s a brothel in the county."
Yu Tingwan watched Hu Yaozu get knocked back with his eyes rolling: "What about in the town?"
Shunzi first flattered: "You’ve got such a brilliant idea! Hu Yaozu studies in town, during breaks they could reunite as mother and son."
Then he suggested: "There isn’t one yet, but we can build one specifically for this."
Yu Tingwan: "Isn’t that troublesome?"
"Not troublesome, there’s a vacant lot in town just right for it."
"Though Mrs. Wang is older, chubby, and unattractive, she’s still the mother of a scholar, I’m sure many would be eager to claim Hu Yaozu as their foster son."
Shunzi: "I can even help attract customers."
After all, he’s versatile.
After all, the General gave orders.
He was afraid being a maiden, the madam might not be ruthless enough.
Let him exert his efforts and make arrangements.
Yu Tingwan: "That would still be too cheap for her, considering it would make her a townsperson again."
"Impossible!"
The Village Chief stepped forward.
Until then he had watched coldly, as this was the Hu Family’s deserved outcome, but involving Hu Yaozu still made him uneasy.
"Wan Niang."
"Our village has only this one scholar."
"Only he has prospects."
The Village Chief was reluctant: "If word gets out, it will stir up old controversies and ruin his marriage prospects, not to mention damaging his future reputation. Even your mother in her grave couldn’t rest in peace."
"You’re a filial child, you surely don’t want your mother’s name sullied again."
