Chapter 756: Fake Demon Hunter I
The Incubus System Chapter 746. Fake Demon Hunter I
The sun had almost completely disappeared below the horizon. As the day transitioned into night, the cityscape transformed into a tapestry of shimmering lights.
It was 7:06 PM, and although it was still relatively early, I couldn't contain my eagerness to go to my night hunt. I still wanted to hunt the senators, but not now.
I knew I had to exercise caution and precision in executing my plan. Rushing into it without considering the consequences could lead to disastrous outcomes. These senators held positions of power and influence, with eyes and ears scattered throughout the city.
Launching my operation while the senator was still at his workplace would be unwise. The numerous CCTV cameras and vigilant security personnel posed a huge risk of leaving behind evidence that could trace back to me. I needed a strategic advantage, an opportune moment when the senator would be vulnerable and less guarded.
In the heart of Nighthallow City, a towering skyscraper stood proudly among the glittering skyline. It wasn't the tallest building that pierced the sky, but it offered me a strategic advantage that couldn't be overlooked.
Perched atop this modern fortress, I found myself in my demonic form. I also wore a mask cover my face.
Choosing this particular skyscraper was a decision influenced by practicality. Mrs. Clea had suggested this location as an ideal vantage point to observe my trusted pets—who roamed the streets below.
From this elevated position, I could keep a watchful eye on their activities while they carried out their hunts and investigations.
Sitting on the edge of the skyscraper, my eyes scanned the cityscape with an intense focus. The night sky above was veiled by a blanket of clouds. The wind whispered through the towering structures.
Tonight, the city seemed to have quieted down, its streets sparsely populated and its energy subdued. The usual throngs of people were noticeably absent, allowing my pets to move about unnoticed and unhindered. The emptiness of the streets created an eerie stillness, broken only by the occasional echo of footsteps or the distant sirens of law enforcement.
From my perch, I observed the city's nocturnal inhabitants—the flickering lights of businesses, the neon glow of clubs, and the occasional glimmer of life emanating from residential windows.
My gaze shifted from one battle to another, watching my pets beat up some demons.
In a narrow alley, Buni unleashed his true battle form. His muscles bulged with power. With lightning-fast movements, he delivered a flurry of punches and kicks. The sound of bone crunching echoed through the alley as Buni's fists collided with the demon's body, sending it reeling backward.
Meanwhile, in another dimly lit alley. Shadow's razor-sharp claws extended, glinting in the pale moonlight. With a guttural growl, he pounced upon a demon, his claws slashing through the air with lethal accuracy. In one swift motion, Shadow split the demon in two, its shrieks of agony silenced as its body fell to the ground, lifeless.
Not far away, Red and Rave worked in perfect synchrony. Demons lunged at them from all sides, but the dynamic duo effortlessly dodged and countered every attack. Red's flaming fists struck with scorching intensity, while Rave's claws sliced through the air.
'Rat demon, Toad demon, five imps, and three hounds,' I mentally noted, cataloging the types and numbers of the demons. It was a peculiar assortment, and I couldn't discern any apparent connection between them.
I racked my brain, trying to find a pattern. Yet, nothing.
Letting out a long, resigned sigh, I shifted my attention upward, tilting my head back to take in the night sky.
Despite the chaos and uncertainty that surrounded me, there was a certain tranquility in that moment. The gentle breeze brushed against my skin, carrying with it a sense of calm and solace.
'Ha... it's so peaceful...' I thought.
For a fleeting moment, I allowed myself to be lost in the serenity. My eyes closed as I savored the stillness.

'Or not…' I thought again.
Yeah, tranquility has a way of being shattered all too easily. A subtle shift in the air, a faint rustling of fabric behind me, alerted me to a presence. My instincts told me something was coming from behind me.
In a split second, my senses sharpened, and my reflexes kicked into overdrive. Without missing a beat, I used my telekinesis abilities.
Time seemed to slow as the mysterious projectile halted in mid-air, defying the laws of gravity. My telekinesis grip held it firmly, preventing it from reaching its destination. The object hovered in the mid air, suspended in a state of limbo.
Calmly, I opened my eyes, my gaze steady and unwavering.
"You know how far our power gap is, yet you still attack me. Do you want to die that bad?" I asked, my voice dripping with a cold and calculated tone.
To my surprise, the figure's response came not from a male voice as I had expected, but from a defiant female voice.
"If I have to die in battle, then so be it!" she declared.
