The Informal Tomb Raiding Diary: She is the occupant of the tomb!-Chapter 307 - 269: The Dumb Ones Have Tougher Lives_2
"How’s the Taoist priest doing? Hit—ah, Fu?!"
"Look at the talisman, uh...Senior?!"
In the room, the two silly heads topped with soup pots and frying pans wore faces of shock...and delight.
I peeled off the yellow paper from my forehead to check, the crimson bloodstain hadn’t completely dried yet, and the crooked blood symbols were even more shoddy than before.
I shook the yellow paper and said to Shunfeng, who had tissues stuffed in his nostrils: "123 wooden statues?"
Shunfeng chuckled: "It means ’don’t move,’ simple, right?"
"If your master saw this talisman, I’m sure he’d come back from heaven to settle accounts with you." I crumpled the yellow talisman paper into a ball and threw it away, worried about the future of these two kids. Talisman use isn’t something to be played with; they’re basically ’playing’ with their lives, one daring to draw and the other daring to believe.
"No, no, no, he’s ascended and shouldn’t be troubled with worldly affairs anymore."
"In the future, don’t make these useless things anymore, it’s a waste of paper."
"Oh, senior, how did you find us?"
I looked around, the room resembled a traditional medicine shop, lined with medicine cabinets, each little compartment was labeled with what it contained.
In the center of the room was an earthen jar, with a fire burning underneath, not yet extinguished; the wooden coffin brought down from the ancient tomb was placed beside it.
Several corpses lay beneath the medicine cabinets, their state of death similar to those outside.
"There’s a vertical shaft leading down and a passageway; once inside, she led the way." I glanced at Xiangyang, who, after entering the room, went straight to the earthen jar, inspecting it over and over.
"Where’s Wen Jing?" I looked around but didn’t see Wen Jing, and there was no body matching his build among the corpses.
"He’s in the coffin; he hit his head on the cabinet and passed out while fighting the monster." Baozi dropped the spatula in his hand, ran over to me, hooked onto my arm, and pointed to the spot where Wen Jing had knocked himself out.
"Senior, you didn’t see it; those monsters rushed in earlier and bit the coffin-bearers to death, it was intense." Shunfeng’s youthful face showed an expression of fear.
"I know, I saw it in movies; they were zombies, they’ve all turned into zombies!" Baozi was gripping my arm, shaking it hard.
"Have you seen Zhaosi?" I thought for a moment and realized one person was still missing, so I asked Shunfeng.
"No, we wanted to wait for Wen Jing to wake up before going out, we haven’t left and haven’t encountered anyone else." Shunfeng replied.
"She might have wandered off somewhere else; you all stay here and don’t go out, Xiangyang said it’s dangerous outside at night."
Both Shunfeng and Baozi looked at Xiangyang with curiosity; the style of Fei Clan clothing had some similarities with that from later kingdoms like Xi and Luo, even their braids were alike. In the clan, ordinary people wore white, while those with special status dressed in different colors, clearly distinct.
Xiangyang was wearing a white dress and leather sandals, with a wilted pink flower tucked into her braided hair, likely inserted before the disaster struck.
Baozi, never shy, felt curious about Xiangyang and started to find topics to chat with her.
I grabbed a rope to drag the corpses outside one by one, pulling them to the street.
Suddenly, the city’s large clock above gave a deep sound, like a time signal, and I saw a ’Radiation Potato’ that was eating someone abruptly stop, as if summoned by something, abandoning its food to stand and walk in a certain direction.
Xiangyang said these cannibalistic infected were controlled by the ’Stone,’ so their action indicated the ’Stone’ had awakened and was calling them for a meeting?
I returned to the room and asked them to stay put while I went to eavesdrop on the monster’s meeting. Xiangyang urged me not to go, warning that anyone nearing the ’Stone’ gets bewitched and controlled by it.
There was a passageway leading up to the surface, and unless we understood the ’Stone’s’ destructive power, it might pose future threats.
"Fu is super powerful; have you heard of Elemental Power awakening? Spiritual Energy revival, mighty return?" Baozi was counting on his fingers, with shifty glances left and right, "Chakra? Ever heard of it?"
Xiangyang looked bewildered, I pressed down on Baozi’s head, "Stop it, quit talking, got you to study well, and you’ve been learning such things? Go back and tell Professor Chen to give you extra lessons." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"No~dear Furong, spare me!"
"It’s Fuqu, with a grass radical atop ’qu.’" Shunfeng seriously corrected.
"Oh, grass-qu elder sister~" Baozi cheekily stuck out her tongue, sporting a mischievous grin.
