567 Betrayed-Emily wanted to shrink back into the end. Her utmost confidence gaze fell and it was replaced with the most pathetic expressions. As usual, this demon was still cold-hearted and ruthless to everyone and there was no way he would open up to anyone, Emily thought with a distraught heart.

“I-I wanted to help y-”

“Step out this instant!”

With a solid voice, Emily turned around to run from his room with the door closing behind her figure vanishing in the corridor. Javier changed his annoyed expression and opened one of the buttons of his shirt. He went to his mini bar to open the wine from the table and poured it for himself until his hands stopped in the air to hear the steps of walking again.

But this time, he was sure the person wasn’t the same person whom he had chased just now.

“Being harsh to her wasn’t needed, Javier.” A smirk covered his lips but Javier didn’t say anything. He poured the wine and took a sip from it. Glancing at Sierra at once, he said, “You do know what she wishes. Why act ignorant, Sierra?”

“B-”

“Don’t make me believe if you like her very much and she is the best person in this world. All of us know why she lives in this mansion and her reasons. She can stay and should cherish it instead of testing my thin line of patience.” Javier did give her a brief which was hard to reject.

Sierra bit her lower lip and took a deep breathe to say,

.....

“She was right, to convince you for dinner.” Sierra pressed the matter and recalled how she saw the horror-like face of Emily. Undoubtedly she was delighted but at the same time, some words of advice needed to be conveyed to Javier.

Sierra took a few steps inside as she folded her hands around her chest and stared at Javier with her glare. “I know her intentions might not be correct but don’t be so cold, Javier. Four years, I know it is never easy as said. But Jennifer wouldn’t be happy to see you in this condition.”

For a while, Javier decided not to exchange words. He hardly had anything to tell her. But on second thought, Javier brought his glass near his lips to take a sip and said, “You didn’t know her, Sierra. Trust me, she would be very unhappy to know if I wasn’t in this condition.”

“You still blame her for leaving you…” her words were a mumble but were caught by the man. “Blaming her… what else can I do? She left many unanswered questions behind. Was she the one who betrayed me by not acting upon my orders or did some other issues crop up at that point? How do we know about it? Because there is no one to tell me.”

“Four years Javier…” Sierra couldn’t help but shake her head. It was still new to know those words but she was careful. Javier could be a mess on this special day, the death anniversary of his beloved.

A scoff left Javier’s lips when he told her, “You are correct, four years, and I still remember every detail about that accident in my mind. As if it happened just a few hours ago. That hurts, Sierra. It hurts to feel everything but it’s like a nightmare that is stuck.”

Javier turned around and opened the door of the terrace. He stepped in the chilly weather and Sierra followed him outside. At first instance, she felt the air getting colder than expected but Javier stepped without resistance.

However, Sierra didn’t beat around the bush to ask him. “Will you ever move on from those memories, Javier?”

Hearing her question, a mist formed in Javier’s eyes. He wanted to say something but then his voice got stuck which got harder to tell. Yet he did, he found the courage and answered with a pure killing and evil intent.

“Why did you not move on from your past when you married Jack? He was a great guy.” A question for question, Sierra kneeled her urge to roll her eyes. “Charles was alive, Javier. Jennifer is…”

“She is with me. I assume she will be with me and that is enough for me to be alive and be a man to raise a child.” He traced his eyes to face Sierra and genuinely commented, “I can be both mother and father to Ari. Don’t worry about her welfare. While I know your urgency to make me move on is for her. She isn’t interested in getting a mother.”

Sierra found no more reasons to refute his words. Her heart ached for the little girl because she had seen that sadness in those puppy eyes upon remembering that she was motherless. Sierra holes were to get a full family for Ariana, but Javier showed no ink of interest in the same matter.

Pursing her lips, Sierra nodded her head when she patted his shoulders to say, “I understand. But think about my words.”

Javier didn’t reply and let her go from the terrace. He heard the door closing behind and then he faced the sky and the stars. The moon flashed in front of his eyes and tried to recall that unfortunate event. 𝗳𝒓𝙚e𝓌e𝚋𝙣𝚘𝐯𝙚𝙡.𝑐૦m

After everything in his life, he was indeed lonely. But he fully accepted everything. ‘Just four years and an eternity to go..’ that was what he took an oath on Jennifer’s death.

He will fulfill it and is pursuing the same to this very day. Javier stood to his ground and his fingers bewitched circles on the cup of the glass. “You see, everyone is insisting that I move away from you. But your husband is still stuck to those past memories which were rough and tough.”

He raised his head to look at the moon and closed his eyes from finding chaos in those messy thoughts again. “Jennifer.. my love… I hope you are happy wherever you are in your next life..”
