“Oh.” Xi Yue’s response was indifferent. Without hesitation, he turned and walked out of the academy.

Jun Hongbo felt like he was punching the air, leaving him with an unshakable sense of frustration.

Yun Wenjing watched the young man vanish into the distance, his brows furrowing. After a brief pause, he murmured, “That instructor isn’t simple. Looks like we’ll need to adjust our plans.”

Since Xi Yue was a newly appointed instructor, she was currently assigned to teach only Class Three of the Water Medicine Department.

After finishing the morning classes each day, she had plenty of free time.

Upon returning to her courtyard, Xi Yue lay directly on the bed and entered the void.

She had been so busy lately that she barely had time to cultivate Circle of Life and Cleansing Fire Eruption. Now that she finally had a break, she was determined to make the most of it.

Xi Yue could feel that she had nearly gathered the pagoda’s power, but her Circle of Life still hadn’t broken through. If she could just push past that barrier, she might finally be able to bring some people back to life.

Time passed slowly, from the scorching sun hanging high in the sky to the stars quietly rising in the night.

It wasn’t until she felt the fundamental essence generated by the Circle of Life was much purer that Xi Yue left the void and stretched a little.

But as soon as she opened her eyes, she immediately sat up from the bed, her face full of shock.

A faint figure sat at the head of the bed, barely noticeable beside her.

Instead of escaping, she ended up crashing straight into the other person’s arms.

A familiar scent surrounded her, his presence strong and overpowering. Firm arms pulled her in tightly, as if trying to merge her into his embrace—into his very being.

Xi Yue froze for a moment, then her expression shifted instantly. “Let go of me, Ji Mingyu!” she snapped.

Instead of letting go, Ji Mingyu shifted his body and pinned her down on the bed. Leaning over her, he gazed down with an intense look. “Did you miss me?”

“Miss you? In your dreams!” Xi Yue snapped. She kept kicking her legs, trying to shove the shameless man off her. But he caught her ankle in one swift motion, pinning it to the side and leaving her completely trapped.

Ji Mingyu’s deep, slightly hoarse voice sounded above her. There was a hint of awkwardness, but his sincerity was unmistakable. “I missed you a lot.”

His handsome face was right in front of her. She saw her own reflection in his starry eyes. His breath was warm, and his voice was alluring and affectionate.

Xi Yue immediately blushed. That bastard—he’s totally playing dirty!

But the next moment, frustration and embarrassment flared up in her. She struggled hard and snapped, “Let me go! How are you even here? This is the Heavenly Medical Valley. There’s a barrier in place. Only the students and instructors can get inside!”

Ji Mingyu’s eyes flickered with disdain as he scoffed. “Barrier? There’s no barrier in this world that can stop me.”

Xi Yue was speechless. So, after being soul imprinted by him, I can’t escape no matter where I go?

“What do you want from me?” Xi Yue snapped.

Ji Mingyu raised an eyebrow, “I said it very clearly. I want you to be my woman, Xi.”

“I also told you that I already have someone I like! He is my…”

Before Xi Yue could finish, Ji Mingyu silenced her the only way he knew how—capturing her lips in a deep kiss, leaving no room for any more words that might displease him.

After a long moment, their lips finally parted. Xi Yue’s face was flushed, even the corners of her eyes were misty. She glared at him with a mix of anger and annoyance.

Ji Mingyu’s voice was raspy, his composure was slipping away because of his burning passion. “Don’t look at me like that, Xi. I might not be able to hold back.”

Hold back from what? As Xi Yue thought about it, her face turned beet red. Feeling exasperated, she instinctively raised her hand, ready to hurl a spell at him.
