The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 146: Moving on (2)
Chapter 146: Moving on (2)
"They’re trying to kill me with all this work," Tobias sighed, resting back on the chair. He was close to finishing his work for the day so he could go to see Hazel.
Tobias was yet to be informed of what happened after the flowers were delivered. It was a guard that informed him how women loved to receive flowers from the man they loved so he handpicked flowers Hazel would love and sent them.
At first, he thought of only sending Hazel flowers, but then he didn’t want to embarrass his mother and fuel her anger toward Hazel at the party.
Tobias wished to know how the party ended and then enjoy the rest of the day with Hazel. It sometimes felt like he was not engaged with how little he saw Hazel.
A knock on the door made Tobias sigh again.
"I am busy and do not want to be disturbed," he said loud enough for the person to hear. It had to be someone from the court bringing more work for him to go over or his father coming to see if he was handling the work well.
The door still opened as the person didn’t listen to Tobias.
Tobias was ready to toss them out, but to his surprise, Hazel entered the room like a little spy.
"I don’t think I was spotted. Your guards are helpful with getting me around," Hazel said as she locked the door.
When she brought up wanting to see Tobias to his guards, Hazel didn’t think they would get her here without someone seeing her. She witnessed how much better they were to get around the palace. Having a few blind spots to stay hidden.
Now she knew how Tobias was able to sneak out of the palace.
Tobias stayed in his seat, drinking in Hazel’s beautiful appearance. "To what do I owe this visit from you? Are you not the one who dislikes it when I sneak into your room?"
’Should I leave?" Hazel asked.
"Of course not," Tobias replied, not wanting her to go when he terribly missed her. "Did you enjoy the flowers?"
"I did and I am no longer bothered by you coming to my room as long as you are not caught. I stayed awake for you the night you did not come. I almost woke up late for my lessons," Hazel confessed.
Tobias was pleased to hear that she missed him. He wanted more of Hazel stating that she liked him near or missed him. It was good to see that she took the risk to come to him once, but he couldn’t help thinking that someone troubling her might be the reason for her coming here.
"Did my mother or one of the women attending trouble you?" Tobias asked.
"No," Hazel shook her head. "I am here because I wanted to see you. You are swamped with work," she said, looking around the room as she neared Tobias. ’I thought my tutor was giving me too much work, but I was wrong. You are in need of a break."
Tobias kept his eyes glued to Hazel as she walked around the table. To his surprise, she sat on his lap. He was stunned by the action and did not move the chair to make more space for her.
It was only after what felt like a minute passed had he got used to Hazel sitting on him and pushed back the chair to make it more comfortable for her and placed his hands on her waist to keep her in place.
"Are you ill, Hazel?" Tobias questioned as Hazel could not be in her right mind. Getting her to sit on his lap was something he would have to carefully ease her into doing, but Hazel did it on her own. "You are making me worry, Hazel. Did you have something to drink?"
Hazel thoroughly enjoyed how he couldn’t believe that she would sit on his lap. It was something innocent in her eyes. "Why is it so hard to believe that I would want to sit here?"
’Because you are Hazel," Tobias answered. "Then again, it is just like you to torture me. I won’t complain anymore,’ he said, leaning forward to kiss the back of her neck.
When she was feeling bold to do something like this, he had to encourage her so she would keep doing it over and over again.
Hazel shivered from the feeling of Tobias’s lips on her skin. He wasted no time enjoying touching her as soon as the shock went away. Hazel shifted her body to face him. She placed her hands on his shoulders and enjoyed how handsome he was up close.
"I still think there is something wrong with you," said Tobias.
"I said that I missed you. You might have moved my heart with the flowers, and now I want to be near you. I am also tempted to kiss you, but I fear I might distract you too much, and you won’t get any more work done," Hazel said, enjoying how hurt he looked he wouldn’t get a kiss.
"Hazel, a kiss wouldn’t distract me. We can test it by you kissing me a hundred times and then watch how I get all this work done in an hour. My body is yours to do as you wish so kiss me if it is what you desire," Tobias said, awaiting the kiss.
Hazel chuckled, amused by how he was so quick to offer his body to her. Hazel gave him a quick kiss on the lips, further enjoying him sulking that it wasn’t more. It was fun when she got to toy with him. "I look forward to getting to marry you. If only they didn’t push back the wedding, I would soon be your wife."
"If you want, we can sneak out of the palace and go to a priest. Be married in secret-"
"Absolutely not. I want to marry you here. I will marry you here," Hazel said, certain they would end up husband and wife. "I look forward to not having to sneak around to see you. "I love the ring," she said, looking at the ring she received just in time for the party.
"I was thinking of proposing to you again with it. They snatched it away before I could prepare something."
"I am satisfied with the first proposal. Having the ring for everyone to see that I am yours is enough. I hope the wedding will come soon for everyone to know that you are mine. I’m afraid that I might need to move soon because you are getting a little too excited," Hazel teased.
"You are not going anywhere. Not until I have my fill of kissing you," Tobias said, placing his hand on her lower back to bring her closer for a proper kiss.
