The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 151: Husband and wife (2)
Chapter 151: Husband and wife (2)
Tobias leaned close to Hazel and whispered, "You look beautiful."
Hazel looked ahead to watch the priest give his speech. "Thank you," she softly responded.
They were backing the guests at the moment so no one would know what they were doing, and the priest didn’t seem pleased that they spoke during his time for speaking.
"You look more handsome today. It must be that you pushed your hair back. Sorry," Hazel apologised after the priest looked her way. Perhaps he could only ignore short sentences?
Tobias chuckled over Hazel acting like a scolded child. He longed for this to be over with so they could speak to each other. Why wasn’t it more common for the newlyweds to go off somewhere alone instead of speaking with the guests?
All Tobias wanted to do now was be alone with Hazel, but they had to go around speaking to guests who came from all around the kingdom and a few from outside of it. He hoped this was a day where night would come fast so he could finally share a room with Hazel.
Tobias paid little attention to the priest as he was more interested in Hazel.
It finally came time for their vows to be said and each repeated what was written for them by someone in the palace.
Tobias noticed how Hazel didn’t look happy as other brides did during the vows and figured it might have been that it wasn’t her words. He noted to share vows they meant later when they were alone.
’I should have been daring to change it,’ Hazel thought after saying her vows. She had her own feelings she could put in words to say right now, but she was advised to follow what was prepared.
After she received the paper with her vows, Hazel went looking around the library and found that her vows were similar to Tabitha’s and the queens before. Just twisted around.
It felt the same with the placing of the rings the palace prepared on Tobias’s finger. They were not given the chance to pick out what the other might like.
Still, Hazel didn’t let not being able to write her own vows spoil the day. She could always tell Tobias of her feelings for him from tonight since he would finally not have to sneak to her room to see her.
"You may now kiss the bride." Was the most the two had heard from the priest and gladly followed it.
Tobias snaked his hand around Hazel’s waist to pull her close, ignoring the faint gasps that came from the direction of where his parents were seated. He wasn’t instructed how he could or could not kiss Hazel therefore he wasn’t breaking any rules.
Hazel was a bit startled by how close Tobias brought her to him but smiled as she enjoyed every bit of it. She smiled against his lips as she kissed him for the first time as his wife.
The lingering taste of wine from Tobias’s mouth allowed her to know that he had done a bit of drinking before coming down. Now she had to question what exactly he was nervous about.
Just as Hazel felt his tongue slipping between her lips, she heard the priest clear his throat.
Hazel stepped back to end the kiss before it could get more passionate as they were being watched by a large crowd. She turned to the left to wipe her lips away from the crowd while Tobias smiled, wanting more. It was not like this crowd had never seen a man hungrily kiss his wife.
Now was not the time to become prudes. Tobias considered the kiss they shared to be innocent as there was more that filled his mind.
Once Hazel was finished wiping her lips, she turned to face the cheering crowd with Tobias.
"Did you forget about the crowd behind us? My parents," Hazel said, unable to look their way.
"Come on, Hazel. That wasn’t enough to shy away from looking at the crowd. It was a simple kiss," Tobias replied.
To Hazel, it wasn’t simple considering the fact he was ready to add his tongue to it. Had the priest not cleared his throat they would still be kissing right now or worse.
"Six hours," Tobias said as he led Hazel toward the doors she came out from.
Hazel glared at Tobias as she knew the six hours meant the time they had left before they would be separated to get ready for their wedding night. "Do not make me hurt you on our wedding day, Tobias."
"You’re angry that I am looking forward to us being alone? Do you want to stay around this crowd of people when you don’t know?" Tobias whispered.
Even as the prince he couldn’t say he was familiar with many of the guests. He had spoken to them once or twice in a greeting as it was his duty, but he wasn’t close to them outside of social events.
"I don’t," Hazel confessed. She only looked forward to seeing her family and close friends.
Hazel relaxed once they made it through the doors but this feeling didn’t last long as she heard someone coming behind them. She turned around to be faced with Jeffrey and Tabitha.
"Congratulations. It went along without any disruptions," Jeffrey said, going to Hazel first to hug her. "Thank you for stopping him back there."
"I heard that," Tobias said, wanting his father to finish hugging Hazel soon. "No one told me that I couldn’t kiss her as I saw fit."
"It is common sense that with the type of guest we have there you were not to go above and beyond with the kiss. You were acting as if you two were alone in your bedroom," Tabitha scolded Tobias. Anymore and she would have gotten up to stop it herself.
"Well, since you’re all so curious about what we will do in our bedroom, I decided to give you a proper show," Tobias answered.
Hazel touched Tobias’s arm to get him to stop. While she was a bit embarrassed that they had gotten so lost in the kiss, it was still their wedding day. The guest could count it as the two of them being in love and move on from it.
Hazel didn’t need the kiss to be held over their heads for the rest of the day.
Tabitha glanced at Hazel. Hazel had done well by not being nervous before the crowd. She had heard the whispers of how beautiful and elegant Hazel was. Hazel still had the attention of the town since the selection.
Tabitha had nothing to say to Hazel now since it went well. Hazel’s greatest challenges would come after two days’ time when she was made queen. It was then that Hazel would feel the pressure and could only turn to Tabitha for help. That was the event she looked forward to.
