"Why aren’t you moving, Rafael? You don’t want to make love here? It looks comfortable," Annalise said, looking around the area.

There was a blanket they could use if he did not want to lay on the grass.

"It is not that," Rafael answered, continuing to get her out of the armour, but he made no attempts to take off her clothes. "Your father was setting up another area for me to propose. I fear that he might come searching for us to show you what he put together."

"Although we will wed and are both of age, it would be a bit awkward for me to have your father walk in on us. I’m certain he’s tried not to think of the possibility that we were already sharing a bed. Unless you wish for this to be quick-"

"I do not. Tonight is not a night I want to rush to avoid my father. Then, should we find my father to see what he put together and return here? I will let my mother know that we do not want to be disturbed and let her keep my father busy. Or maybe I should follow your rules and wait until we get married to sleep together," Annalise said, merely to tease Rafael.

"What?" Rafael replied, disliking where this was going. They were already sleeping together so why stop now?

"It is normal on your side for women to wait until they marry to be intimate with a man. I’ve already not listened to that rule, but maybe I can follow it now. Keep away from you until we get married and then have a fun wedding night. Doesn’t it sound fun?" Annalise asked, trying not to laugh.

Rafael sensed that it was a joke to her, but it was a joke he would have her regret making. Now he was determined to show her why that wouldn’t last. "Not many follow that rule like you think. Not even women heavily sheltered by their fathers. If that is what you want, so be it. We should leave to find your father so we can eat."

"W-Wait," Annalise said, putting up her hands to stop him. He was meant to be frustrated with what she said, not think about her father coming to see them, and then they would have their first night here as an engaged couple. How could he just go along with what she proposed?

"We need to make something clear before we get married. You do not need to agree to everything I want because you want to keep me happy," said Annalise.

"I do not agree with everything you want, Annalise. I’ve been considering the dangers. Are you afraid that after I agree to not touch you until the wedding night, you will be embarrassed by you wanting to touch me before then?" Rafael asked.

Annalise stared at Rafael, realising what he was doing thanks to the grin he wore on his lips. "You were the touchy one yesterday and you think that I wouldn’t last? That is funny," she laughed.

"Says the woman who asked me to undress everything," Rafael said, pulling the chest plate off of Annalise.

"It was only a joke, but I love any opportunity to compete. As you said, there aren’t any losers. If one of us cannot wait until the wedding, it means that we will both have fun making love before then. I assure you that I can go without touching you," Annalise said, determined to win.

"Great," Rafael said, standing up to put away Annalise’s armour. "We should hurry to see your father and share the good news. I will help you stand."

"I don’t need help. What a great start to being engaged," Annalise muttered.

Rafael smiled as he backed Annalise because unlike her, he knew that this deal was going to be broken by the end of the night. After hearing Annalise’s request to get undressed, he was very much aroused, but they had to take care of Phillip first.

That or take her further away from where everyone knew he was proposing to her. Still, it was fun to witness Annalise try not to give in to what she wanted. He would make it up to her shortly when they were away from her father. Right now, he was going to enjoy this sight of her.

Annalise stood up and began to take off the rest of the armour. She stared at Rafael, thinking of how she was going to wipe the smile she knew he was hiding off his face. Though she didn’t enjoy the game, it was a nice distraction for how much she wanted to be with him now so they could go see her father, share the news with everyone, and then come back to be alone.

Annalise agreed with Rafael that with her father planning something for her, he would come to seek them out because her father wouldn’t think their first thought would be to sleep with each other.

Annalise took off the last of her armour and placed it on the stand while Rafael gathered the food they could not leave behind.

"Did you tell your parents before we left that you were going to propose to me?" Annalise asked as they walked side by side.

"My father knew about it because I asked him for advice. He might share the news with my mother, but I was looking forward to surprising her with the ring on your finger. Other than my parents, a handful of the knights knew because Logan found out and it started to spread," said Rafael.

"It never reached me or any of the maids so they did a good job of keeping it a secret. They had to because they must have feared the training you would put them through. It is still hard to fathom that we are going to get married. I was already acting as the lady of your manor and to others we might have already looked married, but this is," Annalise trailed off at a loss of words.

It was still unbelievable that a ring was on her finger. She wanted to pinch herself to be certain this was real, but at the same time, if this was a dream, she didn’t want to wake up from it just yet.

"There is another surprise. One your father won’t like, but I am not letting him stop us tonight. I bought a house when I was looking around today. It is quite small but it will have to do until the manor is ready. A place for you and Lydia to be for when I come to visit," Rafael said, revealing the final gift of the night. "It is without furniture. I didn’t have much time to gather any."

"You, only you would do something like this all in one day. I don’t mind that it is empty. Rather than being out under the sky, I think we should spend the night in our first home together," Annalise said, looking forward to seeing the house.
