The Maid's Rise to Be a President's Wife-Chapter 263: The Sad Politeness
Chapter 263 - The Sad Politeness
In the president's office on the top floor of the Perfetto Building,
"This is Minze," Ji Minze picked up the phone and said.
"Minze, turn on the TV and see if the girl in the Focus News report is Yiren," Ji Aier's voice came from the phone. She was watching the news and saw Yiren's image in the preview, so she quickly called Ji Minze.
"Okay! Thank you, Mom," Ji Minze hung up the phone, picked up the remote control, turned on the LCD TV, and switched the channel to the Focus News channel. At the moment, the news about the new car model exhibition of the cooperation between Longze Corporation and Huanyu Group was being broadcast.
"A group led by Long Zeming, the young president of the renowned Japanese financial group Longze Corporation, arrived at the reserved Jinghua Hotel in advance in a mysterious way. This is a report sent back by our reporters from the scene," the clear voice of the news anchor came from the TV, and then the screen jumped to the scene.
The scene seemed a bit chaotic. Ji Minze saw a young man wearing sunglasses and a sun hat being escorted into the hotel by many people. Behind him was a girl responding to the reporters on his behalf. The owner of that face was Yiren, who had treated him like a stranger this afternoon and had appeared in his dreams countless times.
Someone knocked on the door outside, but Ji Minze didn't respond. He looked at the news screen. At this moment, he finally knew Yiren's whereabouts.
He wanted to bring her back to his side. This was the call from his heart.
"Brother Minze!" Since there was no response, Tang Lei gently opened the door and peeked in to see Ji Minze watching the news. She called out softly.
"Just put it on my desk. Please cancel my evening schedule! Thank you," Ji Minze turned to Tang Lei and said.
"But weren't you going to have dinner with me at my place tonight?" Tang Lei asked in confusion, looking disappointed.
"Can we do it another day? I have something important to deal with tonight," Ji Minze said to Tang Lei. He was going to the Jinghua Hotel to find Yiren tonight. He needed to have a good talk with her.
"Is it really that important? Can't it be done another day?" Tang Lei pleaded. It was not easy for her to get Ji Minze to agree to have dinner with her at her home, and now Ji Minze wanted to postpone it.
"Sorry! Tang Lei, tonight is very important to me," Ji Minze still said in a gentle tone. Every time he spoke a little more forcefully, Tang Lei would start crying. And he didn't want to see that, so he always had to be careful when talking to her.

"Okay then! I'll go out first," Tang Lei nodded and then left Ji Minze's office.
Ji Minze looked at the time. It was almost seven o'clock. He dialed Cui Zijun's internal line.
"I'm going out tonight. You and Hao don't need to accompany me. Get off work early," Ji Minze instructed, then hung up the phone, took out the car keys from the drawer, and left the office.
When passing by Tang Lei's desk,
"You get off work early tonight. Please apologize to your dad and mom for me! I'll visit them another day," Ji Minze said and walked towards the elevator.
"Brother Minze, are you going out alone?" Tang Lei stood up and asked. She saw that Ji Minze was alone and didn't have Dongfang Hao or Cui Zijun with him as usual.
"Yeah," Ji Minze nodded and then pressed the button for the basement floor.
The elevator door closed. Tang Lei sat down at her desk a bit dejected, feeling inexplicably restless, as if something was about to happen. A woman's sixth sense was always so strong.
Yiren had just come out of the bathroom after taking a shower and heard the phone ring. She thought it was Long Zeming calling.
"Hello! Miss Yi, this is the front desk! There's a Mr. Cheng Yuxuan in the lobby who wants to see you," the sweet voice of the front desk clerk came from the phone.
"Please let him come up directly. Thank you," Yiren said.
Yuxuan actually knew she was back in the country. He really was her best friend! Yiren thought happily. Then she took off the towel wrapped around her head. Her hair was no longer dripping. She casually ran her fingers through it, then changed into a casual outfit, and soon heard a knock on the door.
"How did you know I was back..." Yiren opened the door and asked excitedly, but she stopped in mid-sentence and even her smile froze when she saw who was standing at the door.
Ji Minze looked at Yiren with her wet hair, just like the first time they really got to know each other.
Yiren stood there not knowing whether to close the door and pretend not to know him or to open the door and let Ji Minze in. Her strength and decisiveness disappeared without a trace when she met Ji Minze.
"Yiren!" Ji Minze called out softly. She had finally come back. In order to see her, he had to pretend to be Cheng Yuxuan, who was still in the US at that moment.
"Come in and have a seat," Yiren finally relented. She opened the door and let Ji Minze into the room.
Ji Minze sat on the red sofa in the living room of the suite.
"What would you like to drink? Still pure coffee?" Yiren said and then paused. It turned out that after all these years, she hadn't forgotten his habit!
"Just a glass of water is fine. Thank you," Ji Minze said. Yiren still knew that he usually drank pure coffee, which gave him a bit of comfort. At least it showed that he was still in her heart.
Yiren took out a bottle of Evian mineral water from the refrigerator, opened it, poured it into a cup, and handed it to Ji Minze.
"Thank you," Ji Minze took it and said. He never expected that one day he and his wife would be so polite to each other.
Yiren sat opposite Ji Minze, not knowing what to say. It seemed there was nothing to talk about. Did they still have anything in common?
"Have you been doing well these two years?" Ji Minze looked at Yiren and asked. Suddenly, he felt that asking this question was so cruel. It was like someone who had broken another person's heart asking if she still remembered the pain a few years later.
"Yeah," Yiren just nodded. She no longer had the feeling of whether she was doing well or not. She had hidden her heart away just to avoid facing the past pain. "I'm back just because of work. There's no other reason," She didn't know why she had to explain this to Ji Minze. Was it to convince herself that she couldn't go back to the past, or to make Ji Minze stop looking for her?
"I didn't sign that divorce agreement! And I've never taken off the wedding ring," Ji Minze put the water cup on the table and raised his left hand. The ring on his ring finger was so glaring, which meant they were still husband and wife.
Yiren was stunned. She looked at him, not understanding why he didn't sign it. Didn't he want to be with Tang Lei? If she signed and he signed too, he would be free. Wasn't that what he wanted?
"You'd better sign it. We have nothing to do with each other anymore," Yiren stood up and said. There would be no more entanglements between her and him.
"We're still husband and wife!" Ji Minze stood up and said to Yiren.
