The Master Programmer-Chapter 180: Meeting the Fam 2
Who were they?!
What relationship did they have with Jason?
Was she wrong for throwing him away back then?
As the other four continued talking, Amand couldn’t even hear them, her thoughts swirling with all kinds of thoughts that she would never let out into the light of day.

Maybe Jason had a stash of cash hidden somewhere by his dad... AN inheritance that he had no access to for some time?
Or maybe he was back in his Cross family? But there was no way after they slandered and deleted him from the public eye the way they did.
The more she thought about things, the worse the taste on her tongue got... This sickening feeling spreading all over her body was not something she was willing to experience for too long.
She had to find out.
Sarah spoke up at that moment, knocking her out of the recesses of her mind. "Isn’t it just the women around him? Like the blonde is Samantha Ellis, right, the woman Jason is working for? And the other woman, Veronica Hall, the woman Jason used to work for, my boss..."
Mark scoffed, unwilling to admit it. "You’re saying that Jason is being sponsored by women like a gigolo? Actually, I wouldn’t put it past him. All he’s ever had was that handsome face of his. isn’t that right Amanda?" Mark said turning to Amanda who had a pensive face. But it seemed Amanda didn’t hear him, her eyes intently glued on the webpage.
Sarah shrugged without any shame, not willing to back down. "That’s not my point. Think about it... Maybe Jason was the guest there. Maybe they were just doing him a favour by putting the private room in his name. There might not be anything going on between them either. And it might actually be them who bought the necklace all by themselves," said
Jenny, seeing the bad mood Amanda was in after seeing her ex doing so well, felt the need to chime in. "Yeah, Amanda. It’s not his cash. Didn’t he do something recently with your boyfriend’s family? This might be nothing more than a reward for that."
Amanda turned to the two women, and her eyes started to light up, although slightly...
Maybe she was overthinking it...
Dave chimed in at that moment. "Giggolo. That’s funny. If anyone told me I was friends with a male prostitute that would be so sickening. Exchanging sexual favours for benefits... Disgusting..."
Mark licked his lips though, looking at Isabella with a glint in his eyes. "If I could exchange sexual favours for anything with this woman, then I would for sure. Without even a doubt."
The woman looked at Mark for a moment, expecting him to say things differently, but he did not say anything differently, and that signified he was totally serious. This bastard...
Mark shrugged. "What? I meant my words. I mean look at those curves. There’s no way Jason is doing anything intimate with her. You can tell that a woman like that is rare."
"Mark… Just urgh…" said Jenny, shaking her head. But she too looked at the image one more time, her feelings a bit more conflicted especially when she looked at Jason. He was still handsome even now...
"Sometimes if you have nothing good to say, you shouldn’t say anything at all," Sarah said, folding her arms, and then turning to Amanda, who seemed to have some kind of vicious glint in her eyes.
Well, Jason... hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. And you have just scorned your ex. Let’s see how you get away from this one...
— Meanwhile, back at the Cross Mansion —
Later on, the car pulled up to a grand mansion. Jason, sat on the passenger seat and watched, his mind swirling with memories that he had told himself he wanted to forget, and yet couldn’t. This place was too meaningful to him after all.
This was the place Jason had sworn never to return to unless it was to bring it all crumbling down. And now that he was back here, he felt a bit conflicted... Bring it all down or swallow it?
Jack stepped out first, resuming his arrogant persona. When the guards saw him gesturing to them telling them to move on and carry on with their work, they nodded, watching as Jason walked in after Jack with an almost vigilant look.
Heh! The prodigal son returns. How the mighty have fallen.
Meanwhile, Jason who was walking in behind Jack looked around, noticing all the familiar faces, with an unsightly expression on his face, but inwardly, he was completely calm.
It was all going according to plan.
"Father, Aunt, Uncle," Jack called out as they entered the hall. "Look who I’ve brought home to admit his wrongdoings." He had been putting on an act while outside just to gain entry, but after entering, he would make sure to take over.
Jason walked in there, his hands behind his back as if he owned this place, the unsightly expression completely gone from his face. Put on an act for the guards, but act completely naturally when inside. That way everyone will be completely calm. ANd he can do what he wants to do without anyone stopping him or standing in his way.
Footsteps echoed from the grand staircase. Jason’s uncles, Harold and Frank, appeared first, their bloated forms and self-satisfied grins as repulsive as ever. Behind them came Martha, her sharp eyes gleaming with malice. It looked like she wanted to kill him, especially after what happened at the auction.
"Well, well, look who’s graced us with his presence," Martha sneered, her voice dripping with venom.
Jason stood his ground, his gaze cold and unyielding. "Let’s get this over with. I need to go to work after this, Martha." Martha heard those words and narrowed her eyes as if laser beams were about to rip out and tear Jason to shreds but nothing like that happened. Jason turned his head to his ’uncles’ who were heading towards Jack.
Frank clapped Jack on the shoulder. "How did you manage this?" he asked, his tone conspiratorial. Interesting... Everyone in this home seemed to be aware of Jack’s connections to the underworld, it seemed. Jason had only found out in the car... This information... It was going to be useful in the future.
Jack chuckled darkly. "Let’s just say I have leverage. You know how I work." Hearing those words, Harold began laughing, continuously clapping Jack’s shoulders in a way that might have dislocated his shoulder. Luckily, Jack was well-built physically. Unluckily, he wasn’t so well built mentally.
The three older Crosses turned their attention to Jason, their eyes gleaming like predators sizing up prey. Jason held strong, but he did feel some annoyance in his heart. He’d seen this look before, the same look they’d had when they stole his family’s company.
That same disgusting look that carnivorous hyenas might have.
Disgusting people who took down their own… Jason watched as they surrounded him, thinking him to be some cornered prey. But he stood his ground, his chest out and his head held tall. And they all looked at him, probably figuring that he was some wounded beast having its last stand.
"Spit it out," Martha demanded first in the manner of a gangster. "Where’s the money coming from?" Jason looked at this woman, without saying anything. What about your son? Have yu forgotten all about him?
Luckily, he didnt have to fill the silence as one of his uncles spoke next.
"And while you’re at it," Frank added, "transfer everything you own to the family. Your father would have wanted it that way. That way, Jack here will be able to help you out and give you back the person you want to see. That’s the leverage, right Jack, my boy, haha?"
Jason’s lips curled into a bitter smile. "My father wanted integrity, something you know nothing about. And now you stand before me, acting as if you know the meaning of family… You all disgust me."
Martha’s eyes narrowed. Harold stepped forward, his voice cold. "Stop talking all that nonsense... If you want your people back, you had better cooperate... What’s your connection with Troy? What do you know about the Neural Flux Pill?"
Jason raised an eyebrow but said nothing. He did this on purpose too. After all, he wanted them on edge. When people were on edge they were easy to push off. The silence stretched, tension crackling in the air like a live wire.
Jack broke the silence, his voice oozing malice. "You’re trying to act tough, Jason, but let me remind you of something. I have your little girlfriend. If you don’t cooperate, my men will make sure she’s… handled. In more ways than one. When you get her back, she will be a wet stinky mess, and you... It’ll be all your fault."
Jason’s fists clenched, but he forced himself to remain calm. He met Jack’s gaze, a flicker of amusement in his eyes. "Go ahead. Make the call."
Jack’s confidence faltered. He pulled out his phone and dialled a number.
*Brrr Brrr*
No answer.
He tried another time.
*Brrr Brrr*
Silence.
Panic flickered across his face as he tried again and again. The older people in the room turned to Jack, noticing the shift in energy in the room. Jason smirked, crossing his arms. "Problem, Jack?"
Jack’s eyes snapped to Jason, his voice rising. "What did you do? Was it… no way… Was it Troy? You really have a connection with him?"
Jason stepped forward, his aura radiating authority. "Let’s just say your men are… indisposed. Now, why don’t we have a real conversation?"
The room fell silent, the air heavy with tension. Jason’s uncles and aunt exchanged uneasy glances. For the first time, they weren’t in control, and it terrified them.
But Jason wasn’t done. He turned to his relatives, his voice low and commanding. "You wanted to play games. Now, you’re going to learn the rules."
