And yet there was a catch, the same thing he had not believed before. Even with the major downfall of it being pretty bad, she had retained every iota of knowledge she had gained, speaking in fluent Mandarin, at least according to what she could recall and recounting the intricate details of quantum physics with ease, even in her sluggish state.

The pill had not just made her smarter, it had made her a human computer, capable of processing and storing vast amounts of data in a way that was both fascinating and terrifying. And then when it ended all that data stayed, just as his new business partner had said it would.

With this pill in his life, could he not absorb data, and break it down in a terrifyingly efficient way, bettering his skills and abilities faster than every opponent of his? Would he not be making sure to become better than them in the long run?

Thinking this far, Troy had decided to take the plunge after watching his assistant in a lethargic state for a few hours. It was worth it for him. If he could learn a skill and execute it within eight hours, accomplishing something that would otherwise take much longer, he would achieve remarkable success that day.

The faster he did this, the faster he would learn more about the pill. Anyway, she had not died, and Troy’s medical technician had said before how interesting this pill was. She was lethargy, but it was more like mental tiredness that affected her body.

The moment the pill had dissolved on his tongue, the world exploded into a symphony of colour and clarity. His senses had been heightened to an almost painful degree, and he had felt as if he could see the connections between everything, even predicting how his subordinates were going to speak based on the thing he had heard them say and yet never truly remembered in detail.

How incredible! Troy got a bit excited at that moment, and knowing that he could spend all that time testing things out, instead, he figured it might be better to take on some massive problem he was dealing with.

He had picked up a book that had eluded him for years, a dense tome on advanced economics, and as soon as he opened it, he began devouring it as if it were a cheap thriller, the complex theories and formulas becoming as clear as day.

The rush had lasted for hours, making him invincible, like he could conquer the stock market with a mere thought. He could reconstruct and recreate these ideas into something new for himself, and he found this fascinating.

But when it ended, he was cast into a pit of mental sluggishness making even the simplest tasks feel intense. It was a price he was willing to pay for the knowledge and power the pill granted him, even only temporarily.

As he lay there, Still feeling sluggish, but having a smirk on his face, he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of regret for not being able to share this incredible experience with anyone else. His world was one of shadows and whispers, where trust was as fleeting as a mirage in the desert. Only a few people around him knew what was happening. And those people were his closest people.

Yet, Jason had managed to worm his way in, bringing with him a promise of wealth and power beyond Troy’s wildest dreams. The thought of the future, of the empire he could build with the aid of this miraculous pill, made his pulse quicken with excitement. After all, this was buying time. It was buying the ability to do things and learn things more quickly than ever before.

But what was it exactly that Jason had in mind? The man was a snake, slippery and unpredictable. Troy knew this better than ever now, and it was very clear too.

Troy knew that he couldn’t simply take his word at face value. There was always an angle, a hidden agenda that would only reveal itself when it was too late. He had to be careful, to think several steps ahead. After all, in the world of crime, a single misstep could mean the difference between life and a bullet to the back of the head.

The pill was a double-edged sword, a tool that could elevate them to unimaginable heights, or one that could bring them crashing down. The profit potential was staggering, but so too was the risk. In his mind’s eye, Troy saw the millions, the billions that could be made, the empires that could be toppled, the lives that could be changed with just one little pill.

He knew that he couldn’t simply hand out these pills willy-nilly. They had to be used strategically, with precision. The wrong person with that kind of knowledge could bring the whole house of cards tumbling down around their ears. But the right person, in the right place, at the right time... well, the possibilities were endless.

That was exactly the thing. Was Jason the right person? And what about the people behind him? What did they want? Troy lay there thinking about all this, and turning to his left, he saw the clock. It had gone by five minutes. He had spent five minutes here. Even though all this would have taken him a few seconds. It was so annoying.

— Back at Hall Industries —

Jason and Veronica had read through the documents, making sense of them together and after doing all that they sat there, communicating to each other about the concept they were thinking about. And then in the next moment, when Veronica turned to Jason, seeing him focusing on reading a section, she couldn’t help but gaze at him.

He was so focused right then. And all of it was for her.

If it wasn’t for his insight and vision, she might not have been able to see probably half of the things in that contract. With his effort, she had been able to figure out a way to save the company. But all of it hinged on whether or not they could confirm if it was truly possible.

Feeling the gaze on him, Jason turned to her, looking at her in interest. "What’s up, Veronica?"

Veronica gazed at Jason, and then smirked, standing up in the next moment. "I’ll be right back."

Jason looked at her leaving, sighing inwardly. Those ridiculous curves were just unfair to the rest of humanity. Jason sighed as he turned back to the documents. Okay, this was completely doable.

At least that was what She was saying to him.

But he was not so sure. He still felt like there was more to be seen. It would be great if he could get the Business God Method and then finish things as soon as possible. After thinking this far, he sighed once again. He had to go visit Emily, sealing the deal with her as soon as possible. Maybe in that way, he would make sure to get something out of her and make something of himself.

When Veronica came back, she was carrying a cup of coffee and Jason smiled. Before he could say anything, she spoke first. "I got you some coffee. To thank you… and also to ask you to stay up with me. I know it’s a Sunday, but… I need you, Jason. Could you please stay with me?"

Jason nodded, taking the cup from her and letting her lead him to the couch in the office. Jason held the hot coffee in his hands, feeling it warm in his hands. He turned to her, seeing her stir it intently. "Thank you for the coffee, Veronica."

"No thank you… Actually... it’s funny, but I can’t help but reminisce. This reminds me of a time back then when we were still growing the company." Veronica said that with a reminiscent smile on her face, and Jason immediately knew what she was referring to but he let her continue, talking and doing whatever she wished.

"We would stay up all night, working, flirting…" Veronica continued, looking into the distance as she took a sip of her coffee. "He was my everything." Jason let her think back to it like that, saying nothing as he sat right next to her. After all, this was good for him. She was making the association with him.

And she then turned to him, gazing at him, who was looking at her with such a caring and gentle eye.

She then leaned into the man and kissed him on the cheek, leaving a mark there with her lipstick. Jason held the coffee with one hand, using the other to trace the place she kissed and when she saw that she chuckled. "Thank you so much, Jason. You have no idea how much this means to me."

Oh, trust me, I know.

Jason smiled. "I’m just happy to be of service. You always handle things on your own. It’s admirable, honestly. But I wonder, do you ever feel like you’re carrying all by yourself like no one gets to see how hard you work? I wonder sometimes if there’s a part of you that wants to let go and breathe sometimes."

"I want you to know something.. Around me, you don’t have to wear a mask. You don’t have to pretend like everything’s fine if it’s not. You can just be you. No judgement. No expectations. Just the real you, the way you are right now. Doesn’t that sound freeing?"

Veronica turned to Jason, her smile bright on her face. "Jason... you really have a way with words. And Yeah, that does sound freeing."

Jason chuckled, "My words ring true only because I mean them. I’m not here to fix you or expect anything from you. I’m just here. For you. If there’s ever a moment where you’re not sure, or you don’t know where to turn to, remember this: I’m here. And I’m not going anywhere. You’ll never be alone with me. I’ll always be there for you, Veronica."

"Yeah… Thank you so much, Jason," Veronica said, blushing slightly because of her boldness in kissing him, and his boldness in saying all this. She was looking forward to seeing it all. And so was Jason.

Jason turned to her, seeing her flushing cheeks… Well, well… this would make things easier for him.
