Chapter 1237.1

Perserque’s face turned pale. She tried to run away in a hurry, yet she was left with no escape route, giving her no choice but to get caught.

However, she was tight-lipped, and in the end, Davey didn’t get the information he wanted.

“I’ll never tell you! Not even if I die.” She clammed up like she had just made a life-altering decision, leaving him with nothing he could do.

She knew all too well how much Davey would tease her if he found out the details.

In the end, Davey gave up on trying to get the story of her cringe mage days out of her. Yet, he didn’t give up entirely. He figured the second best would have to do, so he decided to consult the knowledge of someone who knew her well.

He asked Ares, the Sword God who resided in the Saint Sanctuary, for help. Knowing how bad-tempered Ares was, Davey figured the man just might spill the beans. At least, that was what he thought. Unfortunately, Ares claimed he didn’t know what Perserque was like back then.

Not to leave Davey empty-handed, however, he shared a few embarrassing moments of Perserque from her growing years.

Naturally, when Perserque heard what he had done, she nearly flew off to tear Ares apart, but considering that Davey was essentially the only one who could bring her into the Saint Sanctuary, she had no choice but to swallow her anger.

After Super Ribbon left for Earth to prepare for college, the Gourmet Research Society also followed her for fun.

Time passed quietly, and the little one who had settled inside Perserque’s belly grew steadily without any issues.

There were only occasional updates coming from Josiah to read.

Davey was a bit concerned about what Baris had told him, yet fortunately, they remained nothing more than rumors. Nothing escalated from the racial issues involving Josiah or Perserque.

Time dragged on and on.

Josiah, who had claimed she’d make Mit achieve the 3rd Circle within the set period, had stopped giving Davey any updates, which suggested she had hit a wall and Mit wasn’t progressing easily.

It wasn’t surprising. Nothing about such a complicated task could be easy.

Davey regularly checked on both the child and Perserque’s conditions. While it had become routine, something odd eventually stood out during an examination. He didn’t know what to say when Perserque looked at him.

“Spill it. Your face doesn’t look good. Is something wrong?” Perserque often showed a more sensitive side when it came to their child. After all, even just conceiving had been an ordeal.

“No, it’s just... how should I put it? You need to start exercising a bit.”

Her eyes widened. She stared at her arms and belly before cautiously asking, “I made sure to manage my weight...”

“Even someone who’s undergone complete metamorphosis won’t see their figure change easily, unless they put in some serious effort.”

“So then...?” She didn’t know what he was getting at.

“The baby has a lot of demonic energy. Even after suppressing it with Sacred Grass, your body is going to be under a lot of strain when you give birth. If you just laze around like this, there’s no way you’re going to be giving birth naturally. You get what I’m saying, right?”

He was referring to a C-section. When it was hard for a baby to be born naturally or labor wasn’t progressing, a surgical procedure was performed to cut open the lower abdomen and take the baby out.

Aeria spoke up from the side, “Wait a minute, darling. Hasn’t Perserque’s body already undergone complete metamorphosis, and reached even higher levels?”

“That it will still be difficult just shows how extraordinary the baby is. It’s just a possibility, but the odds look pretty high.”

Even Hypocria, the Divine Physician, would’ve probably said the same thing.

Given that the parents were someone who was once the Demon King, Perqerque, and the current Demon King Davey, who had even reached divinity, not even he could say for sure how the child’s development would go.

“Then this isn’t the time to be relaxing! Gotta get moving. Should I be training my control over demonic force, too?”

“That’ll actually be the main priority.” Perserque, who had been moving sluggishly as of late, suddenly declared with determination that she’d start working out. It was definitely a refreshing change. “Then I guess I need to stop by Earth.”

Davey didn’t understand. “Earth? Why?”

“If I stay here, I’ll just keep slacking off...” She seemed embarrassed, knowing how lazy she’d gotten.

Davey considered it for a moment. “Honestly, it’s better to train here, but I guess that’s not a bad idea either. Oh, and while you’re at it, take that squid Hyun-Ah with you. She’s been lacking exercise lately too.”

While Yeon-Hee took care of herself well, Hyun-Ah was ridiculously goofy despite her formerly cold personality. Her lazy nature hadn’t gone anywhere, either.

Aeria raised her hand, signaling she wanted to tag along. “Oh, then can I go as well?”

“Do whatever’s easiest for you. The gate’s open anyway, so feel free to come and go as you please. Ah, right! Your body’s tough enough, so as long as you don’t put any direct pressure on your abdomen, even yoga should be fine.”

Either way, she wasn’t a typical expectant mother.

Perserque immediately pulled out a note and scribbled something quickly, then smiled faintly. “This might be the perfect chance to finally learn.”

* * *

Heins Territory was far more developed compared to other surrounding domains. Not only had they adopted every possible advancement, but they had also installed facilities of a quality that were rarely found even in the royal capitals or imperial palaces of Tionis.

As a result, most travelers visited Heins Territory with the intention of experiencing the rare and exceptional culture and technology they couldn't find elsewhere.

Of course, since such a trend was clearly a profitable opportunity, there were efforts by others to imitate their situation. Yet since over half of the facilities and attractions were difficult to replicate properly, Heins Territory continued to bring in impressive tourism revenue on a regular basis.

However, as someone who saw it practically every day, Davey no longer found himself interested in what it had to offer. That was why he needed a different source of entertainment, as someone who never let go once he sank his teeth into something fun.

“You don’t seek the truth anymore, do you, O’ Great Sage?”

“Teacher!!”

Watching his disciple tremble and bite her lip, Davey felt like a beam of light was purifying the dullness in his life away. “I should’ve just left you alone. That would’ve been even more fun.”

“Stop it! I said stop...”

Josiah had clearly seen the flow of magic Davey had shown her. Thanks to that, she had suddenly begun to question her own theories and mana control methods—things she would’ve otherwise accepted as absolute truth.

Doing so naturally threw her into confusion. Josiah then began to objectively analyze her own theories in just a few days. She had entered one of the most critical stages of a mage’s growth. Once that self-awareness kicked in, it didn’t take long for her to realize how ridiculous her previous behavior had been.

“So, there’s about three weeks left now, right?”

She didn’t have a response.

“Think you’ll make it?”

“Why don’t you check for yourself, Teacher?”

“After giving you that push the other day, I haven’t checked on your progress again. Haven’t even tried to predict how you’re doing.”

After all, Mit Chyde was her disciple, not his.

“I don’t mind teaching you, but teaching him would be a different story.”

“Mit... said he’s going to apply for a transfer to Heins Academy once his current academy's internal issues are resolved.”

“What?” Davey certainly hadn’t expected that.

“He’s qualified enough, and it seems like he genuinely wants to pursue his goals in a place far away from his family.”

“Count Chyde actually allowed that?”

“Count Chyde tends to keep his distance when it comes to Mit.”

The boy’s birth had led to the death of his beloved wife, and so Count Chyde couldn’t bring himself to love him. Still, since it wasn’t his son’s fault, he couldn’t hate him for it either. Instead, the count simply fulfilled his duties as a father out of obligation, otherwise leaving Mit to do as he pleased.

“And that’s how you end up with a delinquent.”

“Well, he’s not inherently a bad person, so lately his improved attitude and actions have been getting a lot of positive feedback from those around him.”

Apparently, among the attendants, maids, and servants working at the villa, Mit’s reputation was improving by the day.

“The transfer exam will be conducted fairly,” Davey assured her.

“Even if you were to put in a word for him, I would’ve still made him take the test.”

“So, what’s your conclusion?”

“There’s not much time left, but...” She hesitated.

“Is there a chance?”

“Honestly, it’s slim, though not impossible.” Despite her words, Josiah looked fairly confident.

Watching his own little disciple grow into such a diligent student stirred something warm in Davey’s chest. He definitely couldn’t tell whose disciple she was.

This was it, the kind of life Davey wanted. The life he longed for. To live well, blending in naturally with others. That was why Baris never tried to actively use Davey’s power or status for international influence—he understood that part of Davey.

He couldn’t help but be grateful to have such a thoughtful younger brother.

“I won’t get involved in Mit Chyde’s performance. If you need anything, though, I’ll support you however I can.”

“Then my vacation hours...”

“We’ll talk more about that once you succeed.”

“Awww.” She pouted in disappointment. She then looked him straight in the eyes. “Since you offered, I need a place where I can conduct practical training.”

Despite her shame, it was clear she intended to keep the promise she had made.

“Practical training, huh?”

Hunting monsters in remote areas with the Last Wisp knights was out of the question. While there were plenty of monsters across the continent, it wouldn’t be effective enough within the limited time they had.

They needed a place where the mana flow and structure were a nightmare for mages, while still offering real combat experience.

Davey pondered on where might be suitable. After thinking for a bit, he came up with a great solution that could solve the troublesome problem. “Bring him over here. There’s actually a perfect place we can go.”

“Huh? Are you serious?”

“Yup! It’s perfect timing, too, since things are a mess on Earth right now.”

Those damned remnants were running wild.

“Teacher... You’re not talking about the remnants of the Nacha Empire, are you? More importantly, is it even okay to take Mit over to Earth?”

“As long as we use some high-level black magic to make sure he doesn’t bring memories of Earth’s culture and circumstances back with him to Tionis, it should be fine.”

Davey had no choice but to be extremely cautious about the exchange of goods and knowledge between Tionis and Earth. Anything handled carelessly had a high chance of rotting from the inside out. All he needed was a binding contract to take control of everything Mit saw on Earth, ensuring that none of it would be used or revealed in Tionis once everything was over.

“As long as that’s in place, things can be adjusted later too.”

“To be exact, aren’t you just dumping the whole situation on someone else because you’re too lazy to deal with it?”

“Woah, woah. You got me.” Davey chuckled, and she let out a sigh.
