The Max Level Hero Has Returned!-Chapter 1264
[Yo, Eva, one of the two most notorious troublemaker groups in Heins Territory, the Development Society, apparently caused another massive accident.]
For Evangeline, news of chaos in Heins Territory wasn’t something to hide like the way others saw family mishaps.
“Yeah, makes sense. There are way too many weird people around Dad.”
[Like you, boss?]
“Ban that guy.”
[Snowball has been banned for 30 minutes.]
Face deadpan, Evangeline calmly kicked a viewer while continuing her drawing stream.
[Wasn’t the Gourmet Research Society the most infamous one?]
[Wait, there’s another group like those guys who make food bombs??]
The chat naturally flooded with curiosity.
Everyone there already knew about the Gourmet Research Society, since they were regulars on Evangeline’s stream. They were already familiar with how they caused disasters and were always dragged away by Davey. But finding out there was another group on the same level was new for them.
“There are a bunch of research groups in the territory. Swole Research, Gourmet Society, Development Society, and so on... This time, the one who caused trouble was my Aunt Aeonitia’s Development Society.”
[LOL Evangeline looks more mature, but she’s actually a niece.]
[The blonde princess engineer lmaooo]
[Wait, isn’t Princess Aeonitia the one who made that radioactive waste neutralization system??]
“Yepp! That’s Aunt Aeonitia for ya. This time, I guess they got all salty about budget cuts that happened because of the Gourmet Research Society. They somehow ended up messing with the intensity of gravity across part of the territory. Like, the gravity went absolutely haywire over there.”
[LOOOOL]
[GG That’s pure insanity.]
[LMAO of course the Gourmet Research Society’s involved again somehow.]
In the end, it always circled back to the Gourmet Research Society.
They were practically permanent guests on her streams now, being mentioned even when they weren’t present. Some viewers had even become genuine fans of Yuria and Rinne’s eccentric antics.
[Hehe I want to see high elf Yuria...]
“You seriously want to see her after hearing what they’ve done? You’re getting banned.”
[YuriasSweatyFeet has been banned for 67 minutes.]
Evangeline shook her head after she casually removed another viewer. “Honestly, the Gourmet Research Society and the Development Society are both pretty notorious for blowing things up.” 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
[Then why not just shut them down? They’re always causing trouble lmao]
“Huh? Oh... They do cause trouble, yeah, but their results are leagues above the other groups. Like... see?” She launched her digital painting program and drew a bar graph comparing the different groups on numerous positive metrics. Unsurprisingly, the Gourmet Research Society and Development Society bars were ridiculously high compared to the others.
“Dad probably keeps them around for that reason.”
[Those bars are breaking the chart lmao]
[Of course you can’t fire them if they’re that productive LOL]
[They say the difference between genius and madness is just a fine line.]
No matter how many disasters the two groups caused, they also delivered unmatched results. Sadly, they weren’t even trying to be chaotic in the first place.
“They’re always so dead serious, but that’s when they cause trouble. Dad has to run around cleaning up after them all the time.” Evangeline sighed, stretched, then clapped her hands as if remembering something.
“Oh, right. Guys, I’m getting a sibling!” she announced with a grin.
[Sibling??]
“Yep! A little sibling! I’m gonna be a big sister now.”
[Wait, what about the fox-eared cutie?]
“Darian? He just looks like that, but he’s my age. Technically speaking, anyway...”
That reminded the viewers that Evangeline was still basically a newborn by human standards. She only looked grown-up because she wasn’t human.
[Wow, I forgot how young boss actually is.]
[Eva’s just a baby... must protect...]
“Ugh, stop with the cheesy lines.”
[Constellation Sagittarius has donated 500,000 Won.]
- Do you want a little brother, or a little sister?
The notorious chairman was at large again. Normally, Evangeline would’ve snapped at its message. Constellation Saittagius and the others had teased her more than enough to earn such a response.
However, this time, she hesitated. She was curious whether her sibling would be a boy or a girl, and if they’d inherit their mother’s demonic traits or lean more human. She wondered if they’d be a mischievous little brother or an adorable little sister.
Either way, she couldn’t help but look forward to her future sibling’s arrival. She imagined what the ideal younger sibling would be like in her mind.
Her lips curled unconsciously in response. “Personally... I think I’d want a little brother. One who looks like Dad.”
[Didn’t you always say you hated your dad? Ha! I knew you liked your dad the most!]
“W-What did you say?!”
[Busted! You like him the most, don’t you?]
The familiar teasing made her grind her teeth. “What’s that sound?”
[What sound?]
“The sound of you getting banned!!”
[NataliePortmanteau has been banned for 69 minutes.]
Her cheeks reddened. She’d immediately banned another viewer as soon as she realized what they had been saying.
“Anyway! Yeah, I think I’d prefer a little brother. If it’s another girl, the house will be all women again.”
[Darian must be all like ???]
[Damn, what about the twins?]
Judging by the teasing tone, it seemed she’d be teased for a long time for saying that she wanted a younger brother.
Normally, they would’ve already known whether it was a little brother or sister, yet neither Davey nor Perserque had revealed the baby’s gender.
Vrmm. Vrmm.
Her phone buzzed. She blinked, picking it up before her eyes abruptly widened.
Crash!!
She shot up from her chair. “Guys!! The baby’s being born right now!! I’m ending the stream!!”
[Wait, WHAT? You serious?!]
[Stream it live, let’s go!!]
“Are you insane?!”
Bzzt!!
[MamasBoy has been permanently banned.]
Her face darkened. “Don’t cross the line.”
[Okay yeah, fair.]
[LMAO that guy must have been fucking nuts]
[I bet he’ll be found dead soon LOLS]
“Anyway, that’s it for today’s stream! Once the baby’s here, I’ll come back and mess around with Moderate’s character, so stay tuned.” She waved with a playful smile, and chat exploded in chaos.
[You’re]
[Cancelled]
[You’re]
[Cancelled]
[Boss, don’t cross the line!!]
[Are you ejecting us into space right now??]
[Mom it’s too cold out here...]
“Yep, bye! Go outside and touch some grass!”
[Ah, damn, that really hurt.]
[Was that an AOE crit IRL?]
[Stop hitting us where it hurts! Who’s a shut-in to be lecturing other shut-ins!]
[True that!]
– Evangeline has ended the stream.
As much as streaming mattered to her, nothing could outweigh her soon-to-be-born sibling.
* * *
She returned immediately to Heins Territory upon hearing that Perserque had gone into labor.
“Miss! Please don’t run in the hallway!”
“Amy, where’s Mom?! I heard the baby’s coming!”
As Evangeline shouted with a beaming expression, Amy responded with a sweet smile, “This way, Miss.”
“Thank you!”
Following her lead, Evangeline rushed down the hallway, and before long, she heard Perserque groaning in pain. “Hnnng!! Nghh!”
“Ah! My hair! Hey! I told you not to pull my hair!” Davey's scream followed soon after.
Clunk!!
Evangeline panicked when she found the sealed door wouldn’t open. After a bit of struggle, she resorted to partial manifestation.
A magic circle appeared in the air behind her right arm, and from the center of the circle, a massive dragon's claw stretched out and slashed through the barrier on the door.
Crash!!
As soon as she threw the door open and stepped inside, the first thing she noticed was a fresh, sharp scent.
She didn’t even need to think about where it was coming from. She had already heard that her dad had been making something with Sacred Grass over the previous few days. She’d heard that the fragrance emitted helped suppress the newborn’s demonic force, which prevented it from putting too much strain on her mom’s body during delivery.
Apparently, the baby inside Perserque had such overwhelming potential that it could harm her during natural childbirth. Word in the halls was that its powers were so out of control that Davey never would’ve allowed natural birth to begin if it weren't for the suppressive effects of Sacred Grass.
That was how deep Davey’s love for Perserque ran. No matter how much he loved the baby, he would never risk Perserque in the process.
The thought of the word ‘love’ made Evangeline’s heart pound.
She wondered if someday, after her coming-of-age ceremony, she might meet someone who loved her that way too.
The thought came to her for a moment, but it also made her anxious, bringing to mind something Davey always said in passing.
- If he wants to date you, he needs to be stronger and more righteous than me.
It was the kind of requirement that made her doubt whether it was even possible.
Illyna and Aeria stood nearby with tense faces, tending to Perserque.
Meanwhile, Perserque, in pain and yanking on Davey’s hair, looked seriously distressed at first glance. Yet, the reality was quite different.
“Evangeline? Please leave while we finish, and then you can come back in a bit.”
“No! I want to see my little sibling being born!”
Davey was well aware that she was still too young for such a thing. As someone who once burst into tears over a single risqué drawing, she would find the scene in the delivery room to be quite shocking.
They had tried to keep her out with the seal, but her determination had proven overwhelming. She was just too curious! She wanted to know when the baby would come out of Perserque’s fully rounded belly.
It would be her first time actually seeing a newborn enter the world. She had been with them when Darian was born, but she had no memory of it herself.
“Aaaagh!!!” Perserque, biting down hard on a cloth to keep from damaging her teeth from the pain, was drenched in cold sweat.
“Per, it’s okay. Just hang in there a little longer!” Aeria, the only one who had ever given birth before, held her hand tightly and gave her courage.
Seeing Perserque, who almost never voiced her pain, suffering like that made it hurt just to watch. It made Davey wish he could take her place.
The atmosphere was tense, so much so it was hard to tell whether time was moving forward or just frozen.
“Alright! Breathe in now, this is the last push! Just a bit more strength.” Even as Perserque yanked at his hair, Davey calmly analyzed the situation with a cool head.
No one knew what complications might arise during childbirth, so Davey—the only one with medical expertise—stood by her side.
Time dragged on, the seconds feeling like years. Hours passed, and even the others began to grow exhausted from the prolonged labor.
Then it was done.
“Waaah!! Waaaah!!” The baby announced its arrival into the world with a cry that echoed through the room, no spank needed.
“Ahh...” Watching that moment, tears welled up in Evangeline’s eyes before she even realized it.
She couldn’t believe how small the baby could be! Her heart pounded in her chest once it finally dawned on her that the baby was her new sibling. She wondered if it’d be a little brother or sister, what its name would be, and whether it was healthy.
Illyna carefully cut the umbilical cord and gently wrapped the newborn in a cloth before approaching Perserque. “Per, look. The baby’s here. The youngest.”
Perserque, who lay limp and gasping for breath, began to cry as the tears rolled down her cheeks. The child she had so desperately wished for had finally arrived!
A dream she’d long yearned for had come true. Her tears weren’t from sorrow, but pure joy.
“Congratulations! It’s a boy.”
Hearing that, she gave a sweet smile. “I win, huh?”
“Yeah...” Davey reluctantly admitted.
“He’s so small. Davey...” She smiled faintly as she looked at the tiny child. “You did great. Really, you went through a lot.”
“Your hair did, too,” she said with a laugh.
“You think tugging like that’s enough to rip it out?” Chuckling, Davey gently wiped the sweat from her face with a soft towel. “I’ll heal you up in a jiffy. The pain will be gone by tomorrow. Still, just in case, let’s plan for at least two weeks of postnatal care.”
Considering most mothers needed months of physical and mental recovery after childbirth, that was a generously low offer.
“Little brother? I have a new little brother...” Evangeline wandered over in a daze. Unlike her, the baby had been born of both Perserque and Davey’s bloodline.
For a moment, jealousy crept in, but she quickly brushed it away. She knew blood didn't matter. None of that stuff did. The small baby boy she saw before her eyes was the same sibling she had waited so long for regardless.
“Do you want to hold him?” Perserque asked her.
Evangeline nodded eagerly and carefully took the cloth-wrapped bundle into her arms. Tears streamed down her gleeful face. “Hey, baby brother... it’s your big sister. I’m your sister! Try saying it... big sister...”
Of course, the newborn couldn’t speak. His eyes weren't even properly open yet, and he dozed off peacefully in her arms before she knew it.
“W-What do I do? He’s too cute...” Evangeline looked helplessly at her mom and dad. “I’ll take such good care of him! Mom, you went through so much! Dad, thank you!”
After she blurted out whatever came to mind, the door burst open from behind and someone rushed in. “Davey! I heard the baby was born! Our research society has developed a state-of-the-art mana incubator to prevent exposure to harmful germs—”
“Gracious Savior! We prepared a highly nutritious meal. For a mother, proper nutrition is crucial—”
Aeonitia and Tiara from the Development Society, as well as Yuria and Rinne from the Gourmet Research Society—the territory’s biggest troublemakers—burst in just a moment too late.
When they saw the baby cradled in Evangeline’s arms, they all stopped in their tracks and stared, lips slightly parted.
“He looks just like his dad,” Yuria commented.
Rinne shuddered. “Rinne predicts he will cause accidents often based on Master Davey’s likelihood—”
Despite her words, Rinne, with the experience of having seen many babies, stepped forward and gently placed her hand on the baby’s cheek. “Rinne reports him to be extremely cute. Rinne questions what his name is, and requests clarification.”
“He doesn’t have one yet,” Davey told her. “Goddess Freyja said she wanted to name him herself.”
“A name blessed by the Goddess? Now that’s something to look forward to!” Perserque looked truly satisfied.
It wasn’t uncommon in their culture for a baby not to be named immediately after birth. Yet unlike Darian or Evangeline, the newborn child carried a different kind of weight.
“Amy,” Davey called out.
“Yes, Your Highness.”
“Open the storage, and bring out the food. Let’s throw a festival,” Davey said, still looking at the baby. “Our youngest has seen the light of the world.”
Evangeline at how her dad might be the strongest being in the world, someone untouchable to most, yet was just like any other dad in her eyes. He was family.
Just then, she noticed Illyna watching the baby with a strange, sad expression. Fortunately, it wasn’t long before the sadness faded and a warm happiness filled her face.
Evangeline softly called out, “Mom?”
Illyna flinched, then smiled faintly and stroked her hair. “It’s a relief... He’s born healthy.”
There had clearly been sorrow in her eyes just moments before. Evangeline couldn’t figure out why.
Rinne, who had been holding the cloth-wrapped baby, suddenly cried out in panic, “Master Davey! Rinne reports that the baby’s not breathing!”
Davey shot to his feet, and the blood in everyone’s veins instantly ran cold.
