The Mind-Read Heiress: From Impostor to Family Favorite-Chapter 613 - 345
Chapter 613: Chapter 345
But Shen Jinghe could only curse Shen Jingchuan in his heart, who let himself not open his mouth.
Finally, when the group chat ended, Shen Jinghe planned to talk to Wenyan alone.
After all, the two of them were going to visit grandma tomorrow, and they needed to discuss in advance what to bring.
However, just as Shen Jinghe got up from the sofa and hadn’t even stood up straight, Shen Jingxiu spoke up first.
"Wenyan, do you have some time later? I need to talk to you about something."
"Yes, I do." Wenyan immediately replied, "Shall we go to your study?"
Shen Jingxiu slightly furrowed his brows, "How about we go for a walk outside instead, is that okay?"
"Sure! It’ll be good to move around. Let’s go then."
Saying this, Wenyan walked towards the door.
Shen Jingxiu said, "Wait for me."
Wenyan ’oh’ed, then saw Shen Jingxiu turn to grab two bottles of water.
His hands were large, and the two bottles in his hands looked like miniatures, which appeared extremely cute, causing a smile to emerge on Wenyan’s face.
Shen Jingchuan, seeing this, couldn’t help but make a remark, "Are you planning to walk so far? Do you need to pack some more snacks?"
"..." Shen Jinghe glanced at him and muttered under his breath, "Crazy."
Wenyan, however, didn’t pay him any mind, just waved at him, "Bye then."
The two of them left one after the other, and then walked side by side.
Wenyan asked, "Where shall we walk? The back garden or the front yard?"
Shen Jingxiu looked at Wenyan and took a deep breath, "Do you remember the time when we used to run together?"
Wenyan nodded, "I remember, I was writing scripts at home during that period, and you would wake me up every day to exercise. It’s been a long time since I ran around here, so let’s go ahead." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Shen Jingxiu nodded and followed Wenyan’s pace.
Meanwhile, Shen Jinghe went to his room to change his clothes and came downstairs.
At this time, only Su Yang and Shen Jingcheng were left in the living room.
Seeing him dressed casually, Su Yang curiously asked him, "Jinghe, where are you going this late?"
Shen Jinghe said without changing his expression, "Going for a run."
"A run?" Su Yang was a bit surprised, "Don’t you usually work out in the gym?"
"Yeah, but I find the basement stuffy, so I’m changing the setting today."
"That’s a good switch. Go on then, but don’t run too late."
After Shen Jinghe left, Su Yang then turned to Shen Jingcheng and said, "He used to dislike outdoor activities, having been in the entertainment industry for so long makes him uncomfortable showing himself in public."
Shen Jinghe nodded, "I understand."
So this meant Shen Jinghe’s actions tonight were very unusual. Therefore, he probably wasn’t actually going for a run.
At this very moment, Wenyan and Shen Jingxiu had already reached the path where they used to run long distances.
Wenyan somewhat uncertainly said, "Big Brother, is this really the path we used to run on? It doesn’t seem quite right to me."
"Is that so?" Shen Jingxiu looked down at Wenyan, "What seems different?"
Wenyan looked around and said, "The path we used to run on didn’t have these big trees. The greenery was only as high as my knees. Did we take a wrong turn?"
"No."
"You’re sure? But I’m very confident in my memory, and that path had no trees. I remember because I was afraid of getting tanned, so I preferred to run early in the morning when the ultraviolet rays weren’t strong."
After a moment of silence, Shen Jingxiu chuckled lightly, "The trees along the path are jacarandas, even at noon in summer you wouldn’t be exposed to much sun."
Unintentionally spoken words had touched her, back then Wenyan had casually mentioned being tanned while running, and had asked what those flowers were, Shen Jingxiu had remembered it in his heart.
But those big trees had been transplanted there almost two years ago, and the two had not run together since.
"Oh, so they were planted later?"
"Yes. However, the flowering season has already passed this year, you will have to wait until next year to see them."
"That’s great, now I won’t be afraid of the sun when I run. Do you like running so much that you planted this specifically for that?"
"...Sort of."
"Oh right, what did you all bring when you went to see Grandma before? I found out too late and didn’t have time to prepare."
"Grandma doesn’t lack anything. Just being there and showing we care is enough. We brought fresh flowers when we went."
"Okay, then I’ll think about it more. What’s wrong with Grandma anyway?"
Shen Jingxiu then began to fill Wenyan in on Grandma’s situation, and they chatted until it was time to head back, at which point Wenyan suddenly remembered Shen Jingxiu hadn’t broached today’s main topic yet.
"Big brother, you haven’t yet told me what you wanted to talk about, you didn’t forget why you asked me out here, did you?"
"Of course not, let’s go sit down over there and talk."
There was a bench by the road; Shen Jingxiu walked straight towards it with long strides.
He took a tissue from his pocket and carefully wiped the seat before calling Wenyan over.
"Thank you!" Wenyan gave Shen Jingxiu a smile, then looked up at the sky. "The moon is really beautiful tonight."
When she turned back to Shen Jingxiu, he had already opened a bottle of water.
"Want some?" Shen Jingxiu asked Wenyan.
Wenyan shook her head: "I’m not thirsty at all. Are you thirsty? You drink it."
"Okay."
Shen Jingxiu replied, and then tilted his head back and gulped down most of the bottle.
"Are you that thirsty?"
Wenyan felt Shen Jingxiu was a bit off tonight, as if he was preoccupied, even drinking water hastily.
It made Wenyan even more curious, what did he really want to tell her?
Wenyan stared straight at Shen Jingxiu, waiting for him to continue.
Shen Jingxiu had finished an entire bottle, but still felt parched and uneasy.
Because he didn’t know how Wenyan would react next, he was also unsure if he could handle the consequences of what he was about to say.
But it had been almost three years, and he wanted to give himself a chance.
"Wenyan." Shen Jingxiu frowned as he looked at Wenyan, calling out her name but unsure of what to say next.
"Hm? What is it? Go on and talk."
"Grandma is arranging a blind date for me."
"A blind date?" Wenyan was taken aback, not expecting the conversation to go in this direction.
So, Shen Jingxiu’s discomfort stemmed from this?
"What’s the matter with the blind date? Aren’t you happy about it?"
"You..."
"What about me?"
From the beginning to the end, Wenyan’s tone and demeanor stayed the same; Shen Jingxiu could tell her state of mind hadn’t changed at all.
And himself, his heartbeat started to involuntarily speed up from the moment he began this conversation.
He was nervous.
But her emotions seemed to remain stable, without any fluctuation.
He was the one who initially realized this wasn’t right and decided to fall into this soberly.
And now, he was the one who wanted to risk it all by giving himself a chance.
She had never involved herself throughout; she didn’t know anything, or perhaps, she had never had feelings for him beyond certain boundaries.
This left Shen Jingxiu in a difficult spot, but there was no way he was the kind to give up halfway.
His heart was pounding like thunder as he looked at Wenyan again: "Do you want me to go on this blind date?"
