The Miraculous Treasure Hunting System-Chapter 147. The Sword of Mercy
"Sorry, just ignore him," Jason apologized first and continued. "So how can we help you? We’re not archbishops; we don’t have the ability to perform soul-guiding rituals."
How could Jasmine not know this? She simply wanted to seize this opportunity. Jason’s words shattered her hopes, leaving her soul wavering. She was more shaken now than by the near-headshot.
Despair crept onto her face. She lowered her head and murmured, "I can’t hold on much longer. The darkness here is about to erode my soul. I’m about to fall into the embrace of evil forever, just like those spirits outside."
With that, she instinctively clasped her hands together and began to pray, begging the Holy Mother to guide and forgive her.
At this moment, Gami’s furrowed brows relaxed. He seemed to have thought of something and whispered to the other two, "If we find the holy relic this time, we can use it to directly transfer this soul."
"Is that feasible?" Jason asked worriedly. He wasn’t very clear on such matters.
Gami nodded confidently. "Don’t worry, it’ll work... only if we find it." This was the prerequisite for helping others and for the success of their own operation.
After speaking, the two turned to look at Ed.
"Don’t look at me; this is church matter, and I have no idea how these things work. If you say so, then I have no objection. If we really find it, I believe the captain will be willing to help," Ed said casually, waving his hand. If he were the captain, or if Jason and Gami worked for him, he would have shot this burdensome soul long ago and dealt with it once and for all instead of taking on this side quest. After all, he had his system; he knew every treasure hidden on this island and didn’t need her cheap help to find them.
Also, the entire treasure-hunting team was a secret force of the church. Everyone was a member and a believer. How could they not offer help to a fellow believer? This was also why he didn’t oppose them, letting them do what their faith deemed right. Sometimes, opposing someone’s faith could be very dangerous.
At this moment, Jason turned to look at Jasmine. "We might have a way to help you, but you have to hold on for a while."
"Can you find an archbishop?" The woman named Jasmine asked with surprise.
"No, there are other ways."
As the two talked, Ed whispered in Gami’s ear, "If she really is a devout believer as she claims, and she’s been here, do you think she might know which island the Holy Relic is on?"
Hearing this, Gami jumped up from the driver’s seat and excitedly punched the metal plate of the cockpit next to him. Then he cried out, shaking his hand in pain, before replying in excitement, "Yeah, how come I didn’t think of that?"
He immediately controlled the tentacles to get Jason’s attention. "Do you know where The Sword of Mercy was around the time you died?"
"The Sword of Mercy?" The sudden question made Jasmine somewhat dazed, and she frowned in pain. The long period of death and binding to the darkness had left her soul addled.
"The Sword of Mercy... I remember now. The Sword of Mercy was on a pilgrimage of grace... yes, yes, I even said I was going there on the pilgrimage day. It was right next to it... Yes, on Parvati Island, right next to it."
She spoke haltingly but thankfully remembered the location Gami asked about.
"Which island is Parvati? The one closest to this one?" Jason asked quickly. With Gami’s question, he also realized why they had asked.
"No, no, that’s Parmes Island. The one a little further up is it."
They understood. The island Andre and the others were currently on was Parmes Island. The island they had planned to visit last, Parvati Island, was where The Sword of Mercy was truly kept. Now they were basically certain this woman was indeed a follower.
"Don’t worry," Jason said. "If it’s true, as you say, that we find The Sword of Mercy, we’ll use it to perform the Holy Mother’s soul-crossing ritual, allowing you to enter her divine realm."
"And if you arrive early," Gami added, "You’ll have done the Church a favor. Perhaps the Holy Mother will grant you greater recognition."
Hearing this, Jasmine’s emotions grew even more agitated, which slightly stabilized her soul. Gami said this because positive emotions can stabilize a soul, preventing it from sliding into darkness in such an environment. After all, the female soul before them seemed on the verge of collapse.
Jasmine nodded vigorously. Then, suddenly remembering something, she floated up. Beneath her was a box embedded in the floor. She waved her hand, and the lid opened automatically as she began to examine the contents.
"I don’t know how much time has passed, but perhaps these things can help you."
As Jasmine spoke, a large pile of thick, paper-like objects floated up from the box, covered in dust. They drifted to their side.
Ed realized these weren’t paper at all, but rather sheets of leather resembling animal hides. They were crafted into something like parchment canvases, with maps clearly drawn upon them. Remarkably well-preserved, the maps showed only slight wear, their patterns still vivid and clear.
Jasmine smiled. "I used to be the president of the Chuck Merchant Guild in the Alliance. These are nautical charts showing various safe shipping routes. They used to be top secret. Now that the Alliance is gone, they’re useless to me, but you can take them. I believe they will be of great help to you."
Ed, as shameless and thick-skinned as ever, and unconcerned that he had just tried to kill Jasmine—hurried forward upon seeing the maps. He began snatching them up and examining them eagerly.
The largest map depicted the entire Dark Region in detail, marking numerous safe routes and some secret passages. Every island, and even some of the more dangerous sea areas, was clearly noted. It was incredibly detailed, the most comprehensive nautical chart Ed had ever seen.
The smaller maps were more focused depictions of specific areas, islands, and shipping lanes. They were so precise that even potentially dangerous reefs were marked, indicating rough seas and zones inhabited by sea monsters. Anything hazardous to navigation was annotated, including dates, times, and notes on which routes were faster.
Seeing this, Ed was certain this had been classified information. Creating such detailed maps was beyond the capability of any small force; it would have required immense resources and time. If a map like this had belonged to the Blood Gold Alliance, pirates in possession of it could have roamed freely, plundering with little fear of being wiped out.
Ed blinked, and blue and white dots flashed before his eyes. There were even golden glints.
Jasmine glanced at her box, then turned. "If you truly succeed, there are some magical items I used to own inside. I’ll give them to you."
Hearing this, Ed and Jason perked up instantly.
"No problem. Wait for the good news," Ed said with a smile.
Jason nodded politely to Jasmine. "Well then, we’ll take our leave."
The three of them retreated, still facing the spirit. Jasmine smiled brightly, waved, and faded into the darkness.
"Slow down, Ed. She has something to say to me," Lucilia’s voice came. Then she immediately turned into a wisp of smoke and flew into the shadows.
Ed slowed down, dragging the others with him. There was no way he was staying in that dark chamber alone.
