The Omega Is Pregnant-Chapter 29
The two families gathered around Chairman Kang Hak-jung were seated so they could face each other. On the chairman's left sat his eldest son, Kang Jin-han, who currently held control over KH Electronics, alongside his wife, Seo Eun-hee, and their son, Kang Se-heon. On his right were his second son, Kang Su-hak, along with Han Mi-sun and Kang In-hyuk.
Although this was a regular gathering, an unusual air of discomfort hung over the room today. It was because of the recent tension between Kang Su-hak and Kang Se-heon.
Having taken charge of the supermarket business, Kang Su-hak wanted to prove his capabilities by launching a new project. In doing so, he attempted to involve KH Electronics.
The project could have proceeded without KH Electronics’ involvement, but without their participation, it would have been nothing more than a short-lived event that made a brief splash. Kang Su-hak desired the same level of impact as Kang Se-heon’s recent success, and to achieve that, he needed the new smartphone that Kang Se-heon had released.
At first, Kang Su-hak personally called Kang Se-heon, only to be told to submit a formal proposal. In response, Han Mi-sun handed over the documents to Kang In-hyuk and instructed him to deliver them to Kang Se-heon, only for him to be turned away at the door.
That alone was frustrating enough, but to make matters worse, even the formally submitted proposal was rejected due to its lack of business viability. As a result, accumulated grievances turned the gathering into an uncomfortable affair.
Kang Su-hak kept clearing his throat awkwardly, while Han Mi-sun continuously glanced at Kang Se-heon, as if choosing her words carefully. Meanwhile, Kang In-hyuk couldn’t hide his conflicted expression.
Amidst the tense atmosphere, only Kang Se-heon continued eating in silence, as if the entire situation had nothing to do with him. His face remained completely indifferent.
"You’ve raised Se-heon well, brother."
Perhaps irritated by Kang Se-heon’s unwavering composure, Kang Su-hak made a remark that hardly sounded like genuine praise. Moreover, instead of addressing Kang Se-heon directly, he directed it at his older brother, Kang Jin-han.
Knowing full well the conflict between his son and his younger brother, Kang Jin-han responded appropriately.
"When it comes to business, even I sometimes have to take a step back and let Se-heon lead. He’s my son, but he’s unbelievably stubborn."
Kang Jin-han spoke with a pleasant smile, brushing the matter aside. Kang Su-hak narrowed his eyes at his brother’s deliberately indifferent attitude. It was obvious he was trying to dismiss the issue entirely. Just as Kang Su-hak opened his mouth to say something else, Chairman Kang Hak-jung’s heavy voice filled the room.
"Su-hak."
"Yes, Father."
"Business setbacks are inevitable. Don’t dwell on it."
"...Yes."
The underlying message was clear—drop the subject. Forced to swallow his frustration, Kang Su-hak grudgingly let it go.
Meanwhile, Kang In-hyuk stole glances at Kang Se-heon from across the table. He, too, had many things he wanted to ask him.
Why was Yoon Tae-seo staying at his house? What exactly was their relationship? How long had they known each other?
But there was nothing he could bring up in this setting.
"In-hyuk."
At that moment, Kang Se-heon set his spoon down just as he was about to take a sip of soup. Their eyes met.
"If you have something to say, say it."
"...No, it’s nothing."
Kang In-hyuk shook his head, pressing his lips together. Even as Kang Se-heon continued to look at him, his usual composure was nowhere to be found.
Watching her son turn away, Han Mi-sun barely suppressed a sigh. Her husband and son were both utterly incapable of standing their ground against Kang Jin-han’s family. It was endlessly frustrating. But more than anything, she was concerned about the future.
Unless Kang Se-heon suddenly failed spectacularly, it was obvious that the succession structure would revolve around him. Chairman Kang Hak-jung was also clearly favoring Kang Se-heon over Kang In-hyuk. If she wanted to change that, she needed something new.
This can’t keep going like this.
Han Mi-sun gripped her water glass tightly. Fortunately, she had just the excuse to shift the situation.
"I met with Professor Jung recently, and his daughter just returned from studying abroad. Se-heon, do you remember Jung Hae-jin? You used to meet her often when you were kids."
"I remember."
"Do you? Hae-jin has grown into such a beauty. Honestly, men turn their heads when she walks by."
Everyone except Kang Se-heon showed interest in the name Han Mi-sun had brought up.
"You know, she used to follow you around when you were little. And it seems she still has feelings for you. She even asked if you were seeing anyone. What do you think? Should I arrange something properly for you two?"
"I’m not interested."
Kang Se-heon rejected the idea outright. His answer was so resolute that Han Mi-sun was momentarily taken aback before she tried a different approach.
"Do you have someone you’re seeing?"
"No."
"Then why...? Don’t tell me you’re still just focused on work."
"Work and relationships are separate matters."
It was a clear statement—he could handle both, implying that work wasn’t the reason he was refusing. That made it harder for her to argue. Han Mi-sun had prepared a response in case he used work as an excuse, but now she had to quickly change course. As the conversation stalled, Kang In-hyuk stepped in.
"Mother, that’s enough."
Even as Han Mi-sun shot him a look that questioned why he was interfering, Kang In-hyuk didn’t back down. He wasn’t doing it for Kang Se-heon’s sake but for his own. The mere mention of Se-heon had brought thoughts of Tae-seo to the surface, unsettling him.
"In-hyuk, if you don’t know anything, stay out of it. Do you have any idea how many people are eyeing Hae-jin now that she’s back? But she’s showing interest in Se-heon. If we bring her into the family, wouldn’t that be perfect?"
Han Mi-sun framed it as if it were entirely for Kang Se-heon’s benefit. His own parents didn’t seem to care, but she certainly did.
"Hae-jin is such a wonderful girl, isn’t she? And her family? They’re professors. Se-heon is at the peak of his career right now, and if we match him with Hae-jin, it’ll only help him focus better. Don’t you think so, Se-heon?"
"I’m not interested."
Kang Se-heon gave the same answer as before while finishing his meal with a sip of water. His unyielding attitude made a flicker of anxiety cross Han Mi-sun’s face.
In truth, ever since she had seen Seo Da-rae at In-hyuk’s house, she hadn’t been at ease. She would much rather see In-hyuk marry Tae-seo, but things weren’t going the way she wanted.
What if In-hyuk ended up with that insignificant Seo Da-rae instead?
She forcefully pushed aside the unsettling thought. That future hadn’t happened yet, and she had time to act. She was determined to ensure that Tae-seo became In-hyuk’s spouse, no matter what.
A pretty, well-mannered daughter from a professor’s family—while it was a suitable match, it wouldn’t provide any business advantages. On the other hand, if she secured In-hyuk’s engagement to Tae-seo, he would practically have wings to fly.
With that in mind, Han Mi-sun turned to Kang Se-heon again.
"It would be such a waste to let Hae-jin slip away. Brother, what do you think of Hae-jin?"
"Well, it’s a bit sudden, so I’m not sure."

For the first time, Seo Eun-hee, who had been silent until now, shrugged. Even Kang Jin-han remained indifferent, showing no real concern about his son’s marriage. Han Mi-sun, left to argue alone, grew more frustrated by the moment.
“How can all of you be so indifferent to Se-heon?”
“Leave it.”
“Father-in-law.”
Han Mi-sun had been leading the conversation toward putting more attention on Kang Se-heon—suggesting that it was about time he got married. But the one who cut her off was none other than Chairman Kang Hak-jung himself.
“Don’t you want Se-heon to be able to focus on his work in a stable environment?”
Han Mi-sun, clearly not expecting opposition from Kang Hak-jung, raised her voice in frustration. However, the chairman simply waved a hand dismissively, showing no sign of concern.
“He’ll handle it himself.”
“If he keeps waiting, he’ll miss the right timing. I’m only saying this for his sake.”
Hearing even Kang Hak-jung tell her to leave it alone, Han Mi-sun pouted as if she were genuinely hurt.
“He’s already doing fine. What’s the problem? And that boy will find someone suitable for himself when the time comes.”
“Oh my, Father! I understand that Se-heon has a keen business sense, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be just as good at picking a partner. That’s something we elders should be involved in.”
Han Mi-sun insisted, trying to persuade Kang Hak-jung. It wasn’t just about arranging a marriage—she needed Se-heon to marry Jung Hae-jin for her own peace of mind. Yet, Kang Se-heon remained unyielding, and now, unexpected opposition had emerged.
“A girl like Hae-jin is the perfect match for him. Do you honestly think there’s anyone out there who suits him better?”
“That’s hard to say. Maybe someone who fits him just right will suddenly appear at his side...”
Chairman Kang Hak-jung gave a vague response. Han Mi-sun narrowed her eyes at him for a moment, sensing something odd, but quickly continued.
“Anyway, Se-heon, you need to think carefully. Don’t assume that Hae-jin’s interest in you will last forever.”
She spoke as if she absolutely could not let this opportunity slip away. Her determination was evident—no matter who tried to stop her, she wouldn’t back down. At this point, she was fully committed to making this marriage happen.
Even with Chairman Kang Hak-jung’s intervention, Han Mi-sun pushed forward, completely unfazed. If Kang Se-heon didn’t put an end to it himself, she would find a way to set the stage for this marriage sooner or later. The atmosphere was already shifting in that direction.
Just then, a phone vibrated. Kang Se-heon silenced it and lifted his gaze toward Han Mi-sun. Up until now, he had remained indifferent, responding only when necessary. But for the first time, he met Han Mi-sun’s eyes directly.
For a fleeting moment, unease flickered across her face.
“I don’t have a partner I’m seeing, but there is someone I want to live with.”
Across the table, Kang In-hyuk’s head snapped up.
It couldn’t be.
The person Se-heon wanted to live with—surely it wasn’t... Yoon Tae-seo?
Even though Kang In-hyuk desperately hoped otherwise, he couldn’t be certain. The weight of Se-heon’s words settled heavily in the air. Amidst the shocked silence, Kang Se-heon remained as composed as ever, his expression unreadable.
“I’ll choose my own partner.”
“No matter what, you should still consider—”
“They’ll be acceptable.”
Han Mi-sun’s voice faltered as Kang Se-heon decisively cut her off.
“If they’re someone I’ve chosen, there’s no reason others wouldn’t approve. I’ll bring home someone lovely, so you don’t have to worry.”
His words, as always, were firm and confident—so much so that even those who had been annoyed by his arrogance found themselves unconsciously accepting it.
“I have an appointment, so I’ll be leaving first.”
No one spoke as Kang Se-heon stood up and walked out.
