Chapter 390: An awaited dream - I

~Aldsmoor, capital of Melenmore~

No letters.

No messagers.

No communication from either side.

That left me with absolutely nothing in my hands.

Swiftly Moving out of the house that was in shambles, I stood in the corner of the busy street right outside my door.

People were people. They were the same everywhere. Some laughed, some cried on their way, some were giggling on their way while the others were fighting. Some were just in a hurry to get somewhere.

Again, people were people and did not pay attention to anyone. They did not know.

Melenmore was a sinking country holding on to its last lifeboats. Anyone who paid a little bit of attention to detail would know about the fact. It was not like the king was trying to keep any of it hidden.

Henry, the current king, had been absolutely nothing about it, and it was going to be only some time before his daughter, but over through him or maybe, his new son. A good for nothing child, just like mine.

If I could find a way inside the Palace, I could easily replace Mira myself as the new queen. It would be much easier to control this almost fallen kingdom than fight for the kingdom that already had.

At least until next year, this kingdom will have better days than it has seen in almost two decades. This kingdom at four and completely after the loss of its Queen.

Someone moved around me and I knew that it was my brother. "What?"

"The palace is not as guarded as we thought it was. It has the weakest security I have ever seen before. I almost reached the King’s bed only because he was not there."

My ears were more than delighted to hear that. "Are you telling me that you could have killed him had he been there?"

"Yes, sister." Christopher confirmed. "As far as I know, he never bothered to learn the art of war. It would have been a quick and easy job."

Delightful, extremely delightful. It was pleasing to hear that Henry was a true idiot. He relished the feeling of sitting on the throne and doing nothing, and he did not even bother with learning anything after his wife’s passing.

How the country had moved this far without any one directing it was beyond me.

Taking a step forward, I exited the small lane that I was in and stared at the flag that was hosted on the top of the longest pillar of the palace.

One day.

"Can you imagine our flag instead of that? Not the flag that I was married to you, but my own?"

Christopher stood beside me silently, looking where I was looking. "If you want, this will happen."

"Why? Do you not want this to happen? Do you not want to be king?" my brother had always been one constant person in my life who actually cared about me apart from my mother. But she was a puppet in the hands of my father so her opinions did not matter much to anyone. My brother was a different person in this game.

He had his opinions and he had no problem in stating them. He was quite well at making them known amongst the masses. His strategies in war, and his fighting skills had often made us gain new territories and people.

These qualities were what were needed in kings. He could easily be one, but I had never once felt him desire such.

Christopher’s eyes moved to me. "I know what you are thinking about. I may be good at fighting, but I’m not good at talking. That is where you come in, Sister. You can handle the politics, I can handle everything else that needs force and violence to be dealt with."

He turned to look at the flag that held the symbol of Melenmore. "If you want to sit on the throne, then you will then I will make sure of it. I will get you to the throne and I will protect you on it. How you manage the people is on you."

I smiled at that. "people, poor, poor people."

Four. People only needed the reassurance that I was going to give them what they wanted. However, they did not care about that.

The rich only cared about getting richer which I could give them. All in all, it was a matter of words and how I spinnes them together.

"Ezekiel is here." Christopher reminded me. "He is here without people. So stop not with the messenger unfortunately. What would you like to do?"

If only I could do, but I wanted to, I would have had this over with. My kingdom would still be with me, but as unfortunate as it could be, things did not often go how I wanted them to.

This was the reason why I had to change my strategy and think of it over and over again. What would happen if my plan did not work out, what I would do if the second one did not work out as well. It was easy to deal with politics, but it was difficult to execute plans when you had so many factors running around and attended. Factors that you had no control over.

"I want you to get inside that Palace. Kill a soldier, steal his dress and find out everything you must know. Where the king sleeps, where he rests, where he eats and where his offices are. I want you to know everything, Christopher. There should not be one spot in there that we do not know about. When we take over, I want each and every person killed."

Holding his stare, I continued, "only then we will think of attack. This will not go wrong. I will have my kingdom and I will make sure that no one, no one gets in the way of what I want."

He nodded slowly before taking a step back and leaving me alone.

I turned my eyes back to the flag that was high up in the air. Soon, I would have my very own kingdom.
