The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 391: A Mentor - I
It was quite bright when I woke up. It had to be somewhere in the middle of the afternoon or the beginning of the evening.
Late afternoon, I confirmed.
I had slept for quite a long time and had not expected that to happen. What had been given to me? How strong was it?
Getting out of the bed the first thing I realized was that Irene was not here. The doubt in my mind grew, had I woken up before I was intended to?
Pushing my feet in the slippers, I moved into the seating area. The silence was something I had not enjoyed in a very long time. Whenever I had woken up It had been at the courtesy of someone. My body had not adjusted to the sleeping timings and it seemed like it finally had. I had woken up on my own after a good sleep.
The silence was welcoming and no longer scared me like it had done after that night in the snow. If I still closed my eyes today, I could still see how the snow had become after the question was done with them. I had not closed my eyes until it suddenly came and took me away. That moment was enough what does snow and the entire scenario paste itself into my mind that I would have to remember forever.
A knock came at the door, making his calls lightly. Was everyone not supposed to be asleep now? I did not ever find anyone in the palace while the sun was out.
It came again and this time for my family. It made me get up and go towards the door to open it. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"Chiara." I acknowledged her. "Good evening."
"Good evening," she bowed slightly in greeting, "May I come in?"
"Yes, please." I moved away, giving her the space to come inside. The door closed on its own when I left it and then I followed her to the seating area. Chiara was already sitting now and I joined her.
"Is everything alright?" It was the first thing I thought of asking her. It had to be because I could not think of any other reason that would lead her to approach me about something.
"Yes," She chuckled in light amusement as she answered me. "Why would you think something would be wrong?"
I was not right then, but I was not going to admit that in front of her. "No reason. How did you know I was awake?"
"I was passing and I heard you walking inside."
"You did?" Oh well, their senses eere sharper than I had realized. "What can I help you with?"
Chiara leaned into the seat and moved to make herself more comfortable. It was going to take time, whatever she was going to talk about with me. I hoped that it was not something that I might need someone to help to get out of.
"I have picked up something from talking to you and with Marilyn. You made Anastasia your idol when it came to becoming a queen. Yes?"
"Yes." There was no reason to lie about it. After the passing of my mother, my sister and I were left to find our idols ourselves. It was no doubt that Esetlle had already been trained to become queen of our country by my mother. I, However, was left to become one of another who would be trained by the Queen of the kingdom.
Chiara hummed. "But she is no longer there and I believe I am the only one who can teach you what you can make of yourself in this journey."
My ears and senses opened up with what I was hearing. This is not what I had expected.
"Tristan’s uncle; Dominique, is his mentor. I can become yours. I would much rather have Tristan’s mother help you, but she is no longer available for this. If you wish, I can become a guide you may require."
My eyes lowered to my hands. I was playing with my fingers. "You want me to be the Queen of your people?"
"Say what sits in your mind, child."
It took me a second to put all my thoughts and then I did. "I was ready to be the Queen of humans. People who were going to choose me, no matter what, to represent them and ’I’ chose that but you want me to become the Queen of people whom I have never encountered, never spoken to, and never even heard of in the majority of my life. Even if it was folklore, I was inclined to believe that you did not exist. I have never met your people, so how is it that you expect me to represent them, to help them and become their Queen out of anything and everything else?"
I gulped. "I would be blind in leading them because I would never have an idea of what it is to be like them." Because I did have an idea of the poor in my country. Mother would often take us into the deep slums to make us understand what we were working for and what our goal was supposed to be.
But if it came to leading people who drank human blood to continue their life and it was going to be the complete opposite of what I had imagined doing as my life duty.
If I had no idea of what I was supposed to do, then it would be Tristan leading them alone and I would just be a trophy Queen by his side, just as Mira was to my father and I refused to become that.
Tristan leading alone was a thought that stuck in my mind and it weighed there more than anything. "It will not be fair for your nephew to lead everything alone. I want to be a part of his court, I want my decisions to matter but they cannot when I do not know what I am talking about."
