The Reborn Aristocrat's Daughter-Chapter 229: Processing Plant (1)_1
Chapter 229: Chapter 229: Processing Plant (1)_1
"Baibai, let’s go get some wine. I’ll even give you a taste," Situ Xin said, instantly perking up Baibai.
Sprinting to catch up with Situ Xin, Baibai agreed, "Yeah, let’s go drink." Baibai finished with a face full of fond recollection.
Early the next morning, before Situ Xin had even gotten out of bed, Old Master Situ received a call from Old Deng, informing him that he would come to take Situ Xin to The Dark Division soon.
After Old Master Situ hung up, he asked Old Madam Situ to go upstairs and wake Situ Xin. Meanwhile, he sat on the sofa, his brow furrowed, looking deeply troubled.
Last night, Situ Haoran and Situ Haotian had been summoned back by Old Master Situ and Old Master Loo. After dinner, they went to the upstairs study to discuss the matter.
Situ Haoran and the others were aware of The Dark Division, but they never imagined their families would become involved. So when their fathers told them that Situ Xin was to be given responsibility for The Dark Division, they all sprang from their chairs in shock.
Situ Haotian, as Situ Xin’s father, immediately objected, "Dad, I don’t agree with letting Baibai take on The Dark Division. You know full well what that place is like. Though it can greatly assist both our families, it’s not something just anyone can handle. Besides, I’ve never wanted to gain anything through Baibai; all I want is for her to be happy."
"Exactly, I support Haotian’s view," Situ Haoran and Loo Jianxin added, looking at Old Master Situ and Old Master Loo with faces full of dissent.
Seeing their reactions, Old Master Situ’s mustache bristled with irritation. "What is that look in your eyes? Do you really think Old Lu and I are the kind of people who would do anything for power and family, regardless of the consequences? From the beginning, Old Lu and I were opposed to it; it was Baibai who insisted. You know her character—once she’s made up her mind, when have you ever been able to change it?"
"Moreover, don’t underestimate Baibai. She’s probably stronger than any of you here," Old Master Loo added. As some prepared to argue, Old Master Loo cut them off. "Don’t be so quick to object. You’re aware of the Dragon Society and its Young Miss, right?" After glancing at Situ Haoran and the others, he revealed, "Well, you’d never expect that the mysterious Dragon Society’s Young Miss is Baibai."
"What? How can that be?" Loo Jianguo found it hard to believe. His niece was so young; how could she be the Dragon Society’s Young Miss?
He had heard of the Dragon Society’s Young Miss’s formidable reputation—the one who saved the entire Dragon Society.
"How is it not possible? Baibai told me herself," Old Master Situ said proudly. Reflecting on how formidable his granddaughter was, he naturally felt a surge of pride. "Enough, today’s meeting wasn’t to discuss these matters. Baibai’s acceptance into The Dark Division is already a done deal. Now, we need to think of ways to support her from behind, to help her settle in with The Dark Division smoothly and reduce her burden and responsibilities."
With that, the study fell into introspection. Each one furrowed their brows, wracking their brains in thought.
After a night of thorough discussion, they still couldn’t come up with an effective plan. The Dark Division was beyond the reach of Situ Haoran and the rest.
They talked all night and concluded they were powerless, leaving it all up to Situ Xin.
This was why Old Master Situ was so troubled after receiving Old Deng’s call. After sitting a while, he grew restless and quickly phoned Old Master Loo to inform him about Old Deng’s intention to take Situ Xin to The Dark Division.
Upon hearing this, Old Master Loo rushed over to the Situ Family. Fortunately, the Situ Family home was close to the Loo Family, or else it would have been quite inconvenient.
After Old Madam Situ woke Situ Xin, she was initially unhappy about having her lazy morning interrupted. However, when she came downstairs, pouting with displeasure, and heard Old Master Situ say that Old Deng would take her to The Dark Division soon, her discontent evaporated. She cheerfully went to have breakfast.
Old Deng arrived just as Situ Xin finished her breakfast. He entered with a beaming smile, "Haha, it seems my timing is perfect. Well, Xiao Xin, let’s set off then."
Before Situ Xin could reply, Old Master Loo stood up and said, "Old Deng, both Situ and I would like to come too." Old Master Situ and Old Master Loo knew it wasn’t proper, but they couldn’t rest easy without seeing things for themselves.
After Old Master Loo spoke, he turned to glance at Situ Xin, his eyes full of worry.
Old Deng, fully aware of the two elders’ concerns, pondered for a moment before sighing, "You two old fellows... Alright, come along with us."
Since those not from The Dark Division couldn’t enter, Old Deng made an exception, thinking that once Situ Xin took over The Dark Division, Old Master Situ and Old Master Loo would be considered affiliates.
Relieved by Old Deng’s consent, Old Master Situ and Old Master Loo breathed a sigh of relief.
"Alright then, let’s go."
Once the car left the urban district of Capital City, Situ Xin’s eyes were glued to the window, lost in the scenery.
Gazing at the scenery slowly aligning with her memories. She was very familiar with this road; she could point out every landmark, even with her eyes closed.
In her previous life, Situ Xin had traversed this road most frequently. Whenever there was a mission, she would come here to receive her instructions, and after its completion, she would return here to report.
Now, looking at the familiar scenes before her, Situ Xin felt a complex array of emotions—excitement, nostalgia, and a hint of unshakable sorrow.
