The Rising Phoenix-Chapter 926: Checking Si Tang’s Mother’s Condition
Bai Xifeng and Yao Huifang arrived at Si Tang’s mother’s courtyard. The place was quiet, almost too quiet, as if no one dared to disturb the peace there.
"Young Madam, your guests are here." The maid announced softly before hurrying inside.
A minute later, Si Tang came out personally. There were faint dark circles under her eyes, proof that she had not been resting well.
"Welcome, Huifang, Young Lady Bai." Si Tang greeted them politely, though worry could still be seen on her face.
"Let’s check on your mother first," Bai Xifeng said directly.
She did not like wasting time. The sooner she finished here, the sooner she could explore the city and taste its famous cuisine.
"Yes, come in, Young Lady Bai." Si Tang nodded quickly.
I’ll wait here with my daughter," Yao Huifang said with a gentle smile.
"Hmm..." Si Tang responded before leading Bai Xifeng inside.
So, only the two of them entered the inner room. The moment Bai Xifeng stepped inside, her brows furrowed. All the windows were tightly closed. The curtains were drawn. So, it had no air circulation in the room. The air was heavy and stale, carrying a faint medicinal smell mixed with dampness.
"How long has your mother stayed in this environment?" Bai Xifeng asked coldly.
"Three to five months," Si Tang answered honestly. "The previous pharmacist said the outside air was harmful to her condition. He said wind would worsen her illness, so I kept the windows closed."
"Wind harmful?" Bai Xifeng scoffed. "Bad, my ass."
Si Tang froze. She did not expect such vulgar words from a young lady with such a calm appearance.
"Tell me... Would you like staying in a room like this for months?" Bai Xifeng asked Si Tang.
Si Tang hesitated. She looked around the suffocating room. "No..."
"Then why let your mother stay here like this?" Bai Xifeng threw the question to Si Tang.
Si Tang lowered her head, unable to answer.
"Call someone. Open all the windows. Now." Bai Xifeng started giving orders.
Without daring to argue, Si Tang immediately ordered the servants. The maids rushed in and pushed open every window. Sunlight poured into the room, and fresh air finally circulated. The heavy atmosphere slowly faded. Si Tang blinked. It truly felt like a different room. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"I’ll start checking your mother," Bai Xifeng said as she walked to the bedside.
Si Tang stood quietly beside her, watching every movement carefully. However, Bai Xifeng’s expression remained calm and unreadable.
Bai Xifeng placed her fingers on the older woman’s wrist to check her pulse. After a moment, she lifted the blanket and examined her complexion.
Bai Xifeng frowned.
"What kind of medicine did you give your mother take?" Bai Xifeng asked.
"I don’t know much, but I will ask someone to bring it over." Si Tang said.
"Hmm..." Bai Xifeng responded.
Bai Xifeng continued checking Si Tang’s mother’s body. She wanted to see if Si Tang’s mother had something on her body. When she saw Si Tang’s mother’s arm again, she choked and coughed.
Her mother’s arm was swollen. The arm was badly swollen, the skin slightly stretched and pale. Bai Xifeng frowned again.
"The previous doctor said it was nothing. He said swelling like that is normal for someone who has been lying in bed for a long time." Si Tang quickly explained.
"What?" Bai Xifeng’s voice rose. "Getting swollen like that is normal? Which pharmacist dares to say this is normal?"
"So, it is not normal?" Si Tang was shocked. Her heart skipped a beat.
"Swelling like this means the internal organs are failing. Her body cannot circulate properly anymore. If this continues, your mother won’t survive." Bai Xifeng stated.
Si Tang’s face turned pale instantly.
Bai Xifeng took the bowl and examined the liquid carefully. She brought it close to her nose and sniffed lightly. Her expression darkened.
Si Tang caught that expression.
"Young Lady Bai, is there something wrong with this medicine?" Si Tang asked worriedly.
"Yes. This is not a medicine. But a poison. A slow-acting one." Bai Xifeng dropped another bomb.
The words fell like a thunderbolt. Si Tang’s body trembled. No wonder her mother had grown weaker day by day. No wonder nothing improved. Her eyes turned cold. She gritted her teeth and clapped her hands sharply.
A man dressed in black appeared almost instantly, kneeling before her.
"Go and grab Pharmacist Jung right away. I don’t care what he is doing right now. Just bring him here as quickly as you can." Si Tang ordered.
"Yes, Young Lady." The man in the black clothes nodded.
Then, he disappeared instantly.
Si Tang turned back to Bai Xifeng, her voice slightly shaking despite her effort to stay calm.
"Young Lady Bai, is there any chance for my mother to recover?" Si Tang asked, feeling hopeful.
"You can... But it will cost you a fortune." Bai Xifeng said.
"I don’t care about the cost. As long as she can live, I am willing to pay anything." Si Tang stated.
"Your mother needs three elixirs: fifth-grade Scarlet Blood Detoxification Elixir, Biting Bone Elixir, and sixth-grade Two Revolution Longlife Yuan Ban Pill." Bai Xifeng stated.
"Fifth grade and sixth grade?" Si Tang was shocked.
Those were not ordinary items. Even high-ranking pharmacists might fail to refine them. From Bai Xifeng’s talk, it seemed she was capable of concocting such an elixir.
"Young Lady Bai, may I know what your pharmacist rank is?" Si Tang asked, wanting to know.
"Immortal Rank." Bai Xifeng answered casually, as if it were nothing special.
Si Tang was completely stunned. Bai Xifeng looked so young, yet she had already reached Immortal Rank. No wonder Yao Huifang personally recommended her.
