The Royal Mark-Chapter 358: Blessed to Find Each Other
The Vampire King then turned to his servant and ordered, "Prepare the ship I will personally take her to Qiryn. I cannot let the mate of my best friend die, it will surely kill him as well."
He glanced back to Neia and said, "Send a messenger to Arcanis and inform them of what happened here... And Neia... Tell your brother to hurry..." Stefan gave out a faint smile before leaving.
Neia quickly ran to get things done. Arcanis is just beside Vrenada and instead of messenger pigeons, Vrenada would usually send their runners to deliver urgent and important messages to Arcanis and that’s what Neia did.
After completing her task, Neia put on her cloak and called up her servant. "Prepare our horses, you will accompany me to Arcanis’ Port. We will wait for my brother there for he will surely run to Elsa when he finds out."
The servant bowed and acted swiftly. Neia heads toward the main entrance of the castle to wait for her servant and the horses. As she stood there waiting she sensed an incoming runner and gazed in that direction.
She was right...
As soon as she turned to her right, a young vampire appeared in front of her and bowed respectfully even though he looked like he was in a hurry.
"Your Highness, I am here to deliver a message to King Stefan, but the castle guard said he already left and you are currently in charge of the castle," the runner said.
"Yes, I am. Is something wrong? You are part of the group that went with the King at the foot of the mountain right?" Neia uttered.
"Yes, Your Highness. The demons chasing Queen Elsa had been eliminated but something else happened..."
Before the runner could finish his words, a small group of vampires arrived and they were not alone. They were carrying both humans and werewolves.
Neia gasped in astonishment and covered her mouth before running towards them.
"Brother!" Neia called out.
"We were informed that Elsa was brought here by Stefan. Where is she? Is she alright?" Chris hastily asked.
But instead of answering his question, Neia turned to the runners and gave out a command. "Bring them all to the port at once! Hurry, King Stefan should still be there, go!"
Chris had no time to ask more questions for one of the runners abruptly grabbed him and ran as fast as he could towards the port’s location.
At the port, Stefan was standing on the main deck, coordinating with the ship’s crew as they prepared for their departure while the other crews started casting off their ship.
"Y-Your Majesty, runners were spotted and they seem to have company; werewolves, humans, an elf, and an angel?" The captain of the ship hurriedly informed him after getting the report from one of his men.
"Chris..." Stefan uttered and quickly ordered, "Open the hatch and wait for the runners!"
The captain nodded and waited for their guests to arrive.
When the runners dropped off Chris and the rest, Stefan did not speak a single for he saw the anxiousness and worry in Chris’s eyes. He quickly led him to the room where Elsa was.
Chris entered the room, his heart shattered at the sight of Elsa’s almost lifeless form. He fell to his knees beside her, tears streaming down his face as he clutched her hand.
"Elsa, please... please wake up," he pleaded, his voice choked with emotion. "I’m so sorry... This is all my fault. I brought this upon you. All the wrong decisions that I made resulted in this..."
Stefan’s throat tightened as he watched his friend’s sorrow slowly unfold. His tears were threatening to fall but he gathered all his strength in stopping himself.
Chris continued to sob, not minding that Stefan and the rest of the men were behind him, watching. "If you hadn’t met me, and if I hadn’t accidentally marked you, this wouldn’t have happened."
Nathan came in and rubbed both his shoulders, "Son, don’t say that. It was never your fault. You were destined to be together. She’s your mate, remember? Both of you were blessed to find each other."
But that didn’t help, Nathan’s words didn’t lift Chris’ heavy heart and he continued to pour his heart out.
Stefan placed a hand on Chris’s shoulder, his expression grim. "We will get her to Qiryn, Chris. It’s our best chance. Our human healers tried to heal her but nothing worked."
"I had expected this when I met her human servants in Kurzen. They said she was poisoned by Milda. It was just like how Queen Yvonne poisoned me and my wolf. Milda even involved our unborn child, her own flesh and blood. I will never forgive her."
Andrius pressed his lips tightly, he felt a prick in his heart even though he agreed with Chris. Even though Milda is his sister, she must be stopped at all costs, even if it means that he needs to kill her with his own hands, he would.
"How were you able to rescue her on time?" Elandir asked Stefan.
"She sent me a letter with her detailed plan through her servants. She taught one of them how to use magic and that servant taught her sisters too and planned for their escape. Luckily her servant and her family wanted to escape Kurzen badly and agreed to help her as long as she would bring them with her.
Her servant’s father drew a path on the map, an accurate one actually. He estimated where the tunnel that Elsa planned would come out and all we had to do was wait for them there. When we heard noises coming from inside the mountain and felt the ground shake a bit, we decided to help them by digging in their direction.
Good thing we did, because when we finally reached where they were, they were already engaged in a battle with the demons and Elsa had already lost consciousness. The servants said that she tried to protect them as they fought the demons and had used up all her mana and energy before finally collapsing."
Elandir patted Chris’ back and said, "She will surely regain her consciousness once she’s fully rested. I am sure my mother and Princess Hera could do something for her. Don’t worry too much, it is not good for both of you. You also need to rest."
"Thanks to all of you. If you don’t mind, let me rest here with my wife," Chris asked Stefan.
"Of course, my friend. Stay here as long as you need to. I will tell the servants to bring you food. We will call you once we approach Qiryn."
As the ship set sail, the air was thick with worry and desperation. Chris stayed by Elsa’s side, his eyes never leaving her face. "Please wake up soon, my love," Chris murmured before kissing Elsa on her forehead.
