Chapter 364: Prepare for What’s Coming

"You have a week to decide, werewolf. I will await your decision. But remember, once a week had passed, my offer would no longer stand. She would continue to lose her life force until nothing is left and will perish.

Bring her to one of the Moonwells and let her and yourself enjoy those seven days together before you come back to me with your decision. It is up to you if you will tell her my demands or not, it doesn’t matter to me.

While you are pondering whether you will take my offer or not, remember your lives before you met each other. You have seen some of hers through the seraphim’s memories. Acknowledge the fact that you are the only heir and King of Arcanis because I bet you don’t want to take your son away from his mother.

Your family is not the only one who needs you, werewolf. You are a true alpha, and your people in Arcanis need you. Do not forget that you’ve also freed the citizens of Kurzen. How are you going to take responsibility for that? Have you asked yourself or do you really to be a selfish ruler?" the goddess uttered while Chris kneeled in front of her still stunned about her offer.

Chris lowered his head and said, "I am a true alpha without powers, whose wolf will soon be gone from this world. What is my use to them then? I’d rather die saving everyone so my life can be useful."

"And what if you will not? What if in time you will heal and gain your powers back and your wolf will once again gain its sanity and life? What will you do then?" the goddess taunted, leaving Chris more confused than before.

"Are you saying that I can still be cured?" he asked as hope once again penetrated his grieving heart.

The goddess smiled and patted Chris’ head, "Nothing is certain in this life, my child. Stop wasting your time here. My offer and demand will stand and it is up to you how you are going to use the week I gave you. Go directly to the Moonwell, and soak both of your bodies, no need to bring any healers. I will make sure you both enjoy this week.

This is my gift to you for saving a lot of people in Saldivar and Kurzen, and for all the sufferings that you have to go through to get to this point. Now go... Go before I change my mind."

With a heavy heart, Chris gently lifted Elsa from the ground and went on his way. Nathan and Hoven were waiting outside when he emerged from the Tree of Life. Their heart sank when they saw Elsa still unconscious in Chris’ arms.

"What happened? Were you able to speak to the goddess? What did she say?" Nathan asked impatiently.

"I need to speak with you and the family about that later. We must bring Elsa to one of the Moonwells first," Chris answered.

Nathan nodded and took Elsa upon seeing Chris’ dwindling strength. Chris staggered after handing his wife over and Hoven was quick to catch him. He grabbed one of Chris’ arms and placed it on his shoulders, helping him stand properly.

They headed towards the nearest Moonwell. Chris stepped in first and stood in the middle of it. He then gestured for Nathan to bring Elsa to him before holding onto her tight.

When Elsa was securely positioned, he slowly submerged them both in the water. The water soon glowed light blue. Tiny white particles hoisted from the water and spread in the surroundings.

After a few moments, Chris and Elsa resurfaced from the water with renewed strength. Elsa gasped loudly gasping for air.

"Gods! It’s cold! What the heck are we doing here?!" Elsa exclaimed as she looked around, trying to figure out where they were.

No one answered her question, so she turned to Chris and saw him in tears while covering his mouth with both hands. As she looked around, she noticed his father and Hoven both sobbing as well.

"Oh gosh, what did I miss?" she asked after realizing that they were in the Moonwell, before moving closer to Chris and embracing him tightly.

"You almost died. You were dying... You were about to leave me..." Chris wailed in between his sobs.

"I am here, love. I am here..." she said with pain in her heart as she patted and comforted her husband.

After a while, they come out of the well soaking wet. Hera, Andrius, Stefan, and Elandir arrived just in time and were all baffled by what was going on upon seeing both Elsa and Chris’ state.

They noticed that Elsa looked much better; the protruding black veins on her skin were gone. She stood tall, her energy seemingly restored. Chris appeared revitalized as well as if he had been given new life. Andrius and Elandir removed their coats and wrapped them around Chris and Elsa.

"What are you doing in the water? You might get sick! Let’s go to my house so you can change. Marina is there with Rocco waiting for you the both of you," Hera asserted.

Chris and Elsa nodded and stayed silent. Everyone headed to Hera’s house and waited for Chris and Elsa to change into dry clothes. The group sat quietly in the receiving hall, their minds brimming with questions.

Unable to contain her curiosity, Hera broke the silence. "What happened to them? Why are they drenched? Did they go to the Tree of Life? Did the goddess heal them both?" she asked Nathan, who looked as perplexed as she was.

Nathan opened and closed his mouth several times, struggling to find the words. He didn’t know how to answer Hera’s questions without causing her more worry.

However, he didn’t have to, as Chris and Elsa had already joined them. "I think I should talk to my wife first before I explain what happened," Chris told Hera.

"No, you can say it here. There’s no need to hide whatever the goddess told you. We trust everyone in this room, and it’s better to prepare everyone for what’s coming..." Elsa interjected.
