The Royal Mark-Chapter 393: Mr. Chairman
A while ago when Elsa was in the operating room, Rosey and Daisy ate all their snacks and didn’t leave any for their big brother.
"Mommy said not to eat everything right away because she’ll be in the operating room for several hours!" Rocco scolded his sisters.
The twins pouted and their eyes were welling with tears. "We are sorry. We were super hungry. Our tummies were growling."
Even though their big brother is only one year older than them, they treat him as if he is several years older than them. They also depend on him so much in almost everything.
But it was not their fault since Rocco loves his role not only as their big brother but also as their protector and savior. Rocco also was very mature for his age and was very disciplined in many things.
Rocco placed his arms on his waist, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath like an adult before responding to the twins. "That’s fine. But I am hungry too, Mommy might not go back soon. Will you help me? I have an idea."
The twins immediately nodded.
"Mommy gave me some money and I saw a vending machine on our way here. But the nanny won’t allow me to go out, I need you to distract her and her assistant so I can go out and buy us some food," Rocco explained his great escape plan.
"Alright, but what do we need to do?" Rosey asked.
"Hmm... How about you fight?" Rocco suggested.
"But they will tell Mommy and she will get angry at us," Daisy replied.
"You’re right. Ah! One of you will say you want to go to the bathroom. And then when the assistant is gone, the other will say the same to the nanny and pretend that you can’t hold it anymore. Tell her your poop will come out soon."
The twins laughed at their brother and so did Rocco. When their laughter subsided, the siblings moved into position and performed their act. Rosey went to the daycare assistant first.
Then Daisy went next, she even cried when the nanny refused to take her and told her to wait for the assistant to come back. She was so good at acting that she was able to convince the daycare nanny to quickly accompany her to the bathroom.
Rocco slipped out of the room as fast as he could without anything noticing. He hastily ran to the vending machine that he had seen earlier. His excitement dissipated when he saw that it was off.
He looked around and saw someone in a hospital uniform. "Excuse me, where can I find a vending machine like that?" he pointed to the machine.
"Every floor has one in the same spot. Do you need me to accompany you?" the nurse asked seeing how young Rocco was.
"No need, I know my way. My mom works here," Rocco said. This wasn’t the first time someone from the hospital had asked him that, but this time it wasn’t in his grandfather’s hospital, but in his mom’s new workplace.
However, his answer and his confidence were so convincing that the nurse let him go.
Rocco looked for the stairs and he went up. His eyes twinkle once more after seeing the vending machine only to get disappointed again.
"She said every floor has it, but these are all drinks. I want food..." he turned around and went to another floor. Once again he found another soda vending machine so he walked away.
"I’m so hungry..." Rocco said as his stomach growled in hunger.
He saw an elevator and went in to go back to the daycare. Before he could push the button, people abruptly went in, pushing him to the very end.
He pushed his little body into the crowd until he reached the door, but it was too late, it was already close and the elevator was already moving up. He waited for it to stop and when it did and the door opened, his eyes landed on a vending machine full of snacks.
He immediately walked out of the elevator and hurriedly took out his money. With a wide smile on his face, he browses the different snacks inside the vending machine, checking what he would buy.
He inserted the paper bill into the slot but the machine ejected it out. He tried several times but it didn’t work. He then took the coins in his pocket and the machine didn’t take it well.
His stomach growled again, and in frustration, he punched the glass of the vending machine, hurting his fist. "Ow! That hurts! You stupid machine!" Rocco exclaimed, kicking it. Someone who had been watching him the whole time laughed.
He was so hungry and angry he decided to shake the machine but his hands were so small that the machine didn’t even move. He pouted, slumped on the floor, and cried, thinking that he was alone on that floor since he hadn’t seen anyone earlier.
"Aw, he is so cute. Pretending to be tough but he is a child after all. He reminds me of my son," the man who was watching him murmured to himself before approaching Rocco.
"Hey, little man, do you need help?" the man asked him.
Rocco instantly stopped crying, not wanting others to see him in that childish state. He quickly wiped his tears and tried hard to stop himself from sobbing.
"I am not a little man. I am the man of the house," he said.
The man chuckled and extended his hand to help him stand up. "I see, let me help you then, man to man."
Rocco took his hand and stood up. He brushes off the dirt on his shorts even though there was none and asks the man for help. "The machine is not taking my money. Can you tell me why, mister?"
"Let me see," the man asked for Rocco’s money and answered his question, "This machine won’t take these coins. You need more than this. And I think you were putting the paper bill in the wrong position that’s why it is rejecting it... Which one do you want?"
Rocco pointed to a chocolate bar but the man frowned and said, "Are you sure you are allowed to eat that?"
"Not really, but I am hungry and I have no money left."
"Hmm... How about, we buy this but eat it later after asking your parents. Since you are hungry, allow me to treat you with real food. Let’s eat in the cafeteria my treat."
It was Rocco’s turn to frown and he said, "But I don’t know you. It’s ok mister, I am ok with the chocolate bar. My mom will finish operating soon and I will ask her to buy me food in the cafeteria."
"Wow, you are a smart boy. Come on eat with me, I am alone and new to this hospital. I have no one to eat with. Let’s ask a guard to escort us to the cafeteria so you’ll feel safe, how about that?"
After some thinking, Rocco’s hunger prevailed and he agreed.
He instantly got comfortable after the two security guards arrived to escort them to the cafeteria.
"What is your name, Mr. Man-of-the-House?" the man asked.
"Rocco, Rocco Morgan. How about you mister?"
The man stood frozen for a second but quickly recovered when Rocco extended his hand to shake his.
"I am Chris, Christopher Jorgensen and I am the Chairman of this hospital."
"Oh! You are the big boss of my mommy! My grandpa is a chairman too! It’s nice to meet you Mr. Chairman. Let’s eat!" Rocco excitedly exclaimed and pulled him into the elevator.
