The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL]-Chapter 499: Praises
Probably.
However, it was rather expected when they themselves ended up in serious bathroom situations when they first encountered ice cream.
And for a child who was fortunate enough to experience all of this and probably more, the Prince thought that it would be better to educate her on a little bit of restraint.
After all, with how his little wife doted on her, she’d likely end up getting interrogated in the palace for showing up looking like an actual glowstick.
But hey, she would probably just blend in with all the adults who were out there looking a tad bit similar.
Just, well, greener.
Like King Garick, who was currently shell-shocked by the missing food.
Where?
Where did it go?
"???"
Where else but his stomach?
For the King, who had just proved to be the father of the Princess, ate each slice in a single bite without realizing it.
And it was devastating.
While the others were savoring each perfect bite of crust, sauce, and toppings, the Orc King could only look around at the people who still had something to eat because he, the proud king, had none.
Even his old aide avoided his gaze, pretending not to notice the silent accusation coming his way. His hands tightened protectively around his plate as he internally pleaded for forgiveness.
Apologies, Your Majesty! But at this rate, this may be the only chance to eat something like this before I die! thought the old aide, who justified eating his own food with his age and the probability of croaking earlier.
And all of this was seen by Princess Kira, who sat perfectly still, her hands folded neatly, her three remaining slices untouched.
Never in her life had she exercised this much restraint.
Her eyes flicked to her father’s pitifully empty plate, then back to her own three slices.
Slowly, she picked up a slice with the server, holding it out with all the solemnity of someone parting with a limb.
"Father," she said, her voice calm but her fingers clinging desperately to the handle. "Would you like...some more?"
But her question attracted the attention of everyone, as if she’d threatened to bomb the place. However, it did so for a different reason, as the members present, who were, for the most part, parents themselves, could only gasp at what they thought was the height of filial piety.
Dozens of heads swiveled toward her, jaws slack, eyes wide.
And how jealous they were of the child who would say that to their parents!
Like Duke Azren, whose ear nearly burst from hearing such unfamiliar words. His twins would rather start a rebellion than offer him even a crust of pizza. Heck, they even had to fight over the right to buy a membership!
And yet here was Princess Kira, offering her precious slice with such grace!
The voices grew louder. Praise mixed with envy, a chorus of humans who could only dream of raising such a child.
The King’s shoulders squared as he heard them.
His great ears caught every word.
And for the first time in a long while, he sat up taller in his chair, feeling oddly proud.
"Not only is she talented for being able to enter this famous guild with her own skills, she’s even gotten benefits for her family."
"Yes, how refreshing! Meanwhile, every time I come here, my child insists on the possibility of bringing home even a morsel! But it’s not like I don’t want to! It’s just not allowed!"
"Ah, My Lord! I feel you. I’m here after being threatened to succeed in purchasing from the store, or I may not be able to go home after today."
There was laughter from people who could empathize, and then there were praises for the King, who never thought he’d get such comments from humans whom they hadn’t bribed.
He hadn’t even threatened anyone, and yet he had been lavished with praise for his apparently amazing child.
Well, he knew that, of course! But for a very long time, it was only he who knew that. After all, the Princess always had a knack for cleaning up those whose words she didn’t like.
It was a rather unique feeling. And even more so when he ate the food that he had initially been about to decline.
He was sure his body had been delighted by a taste he hadn’t gotten to savor earlier, but the three slices he now savored seemed to delight his soul more.
Was this the feeling of a proud parent?! It probably was—or maybe just the sadistic joy of reveling in other parents’ envy and literal tears.
Either way, wasn’t that a win-win situation?
"Your Highness, about the guild, is it true that it’s composed of talented members?" asked the old aide, who Kira thought deserved a bonus just for asking such a question.
"It would be biased to just say yes," she said, her voice even. "But if the rankings of the last division and general exams are anything to go by...then yes."
"Oh? Did everyone do well?" He didn’t sound condescending, and the Princess thought that it was interesting how food could fix the attitude of this old geezer.
"If you consider that our members hold the top three ranks in both exams...then yes," she replied coolly.
"And if you consider that we’ve taken first place in nearly every division save for one—where we don’t have a member—then I’d say you’re asking the right questions."
The King narrowed his eyes at that.
Not because he doubted her answer—he already knew his daughter never boasted without reason—but because of the reactions around them.
More importantly, the other nobles stopped mid-bite.
Literally.
Forks froze in the air. Breadsticks halted halfway to mouths. Someone even gasped so hard they nearly inhaled a lettuce leaf.
It was clear none of them had heard about this.
And truthfully, the results had only just come out this morning. Normally, exam results would be dreaded, and people would be reluctant to speak out about them. However, it was different this time around due to a certain name that had started trending on their school’s forum.
Oliver Mylor.
Everyone knew about the infamous public bet made over his exam results, and when the scores were released—showing that Ollie Mylor had achieved marks impressive enough to allow for his parents to throw a week-long celebration—the posts about it had been endless.
That was how Princess Kira first learned of it, and how everyone else eventually caught up the moment the resident loudspeaker did.
Xavier, of course, had reclaimed his rightful position as number one in both the division and general exams.
And their demonic guild leader, Luca, wasn’t far behind—second in the division and third in the general.
Kyle, predictably steady, swapped places with him, third in the division and second in the general.
Ollie, unsurprisingly, claimed first place in the mecha manufacturing exam and even managed sixth overall in the general exams, whereas Lyka only placed 31st.
Her results were honestly great, considering the number of examinees, and maybe that was why she had been confident. But Ollie nearly died for his results and practically passed out after learning he’d placed so high.
They had only managed to wake him up after Luca promised to celebrate the occasion with a whole roasted pig.
The revival was rather instant despite not knowing what that would be like. And as for the Orcs who were in perilous territory today, it added a sense of urgency to survival. If they wanted to taste this roasted pig, then they had better survive the King.
So they decided to rub up against a certain lucky charm.
Jax.
See, somehow, by sheer luck or sheer nerve, the lucky little shit landed fourth in the division exams and ninth in the general. That alone drew envious glares from everyone who’d nearly died just trying to survive Luca’s boot camp.
But if he was that lucky, then maybe the Princess could borrow a bit of it.
Though if that didn’t work, then she’d have to take it from the books of Theo and Noah.
Theo had quietly topped his division exam and managed to land tenth in the general exam—no small feat. Meanwhile, Noah placed seventh in the division and fifteenth in the general, which definitely sent shockwaves through the academy. Not because it was impossible to get such results, but as commoners, the effort to learn most of these from scratch showed sheer determination or talent.
If only the people knew, though, because it was mostly a desperate attempt to survive.
Just like herself and Ada.
First and second in their division exam. As expected. The bundle of toothpick-like humans wasn’t even allowed to fight them.
However, they actually placed seventh and eighth in the general exam. And the students couldn’t ignore it anymore.
After all, Princess Kira and Ada were literal Orcs. Yet they knew the Empire’s history that they had just recently joined so well?
It was more than just impressive. And jokes about having something in their water circulated.
Ha. How accurate!
So, because of the feedback in the forums, she was more or less prepared for the reactions of the nobles.
However, what wasn’t expected was the extreme nature of their reactions. Nobles around them began whispering furiously to one another, their faces pale with realization as they processed the full weight of her words.
The guild wasn’t just producing good results.
It was dominating.
The King, meanwhile, leaned back in his chair, watching the chaos with faint amusement and a lot of wariness.
What does his little girl want out of this?
