The Scheming Ex-Husband's Courtship-Chapter 3 - : They’re Still Embracing After Entering the House
Chapter 3: Chapter 3: They're Still Embracing After Entering the House
Her stomach was still in discomfort, but she endured it the entire journey until they finally arrived.
Without waiting for the car to come to a complete stop, she hurriedly opened the door and got out. The man seated beside her finally glanced at her, his long eyebrows knitting together in displeasure. It seemed he wanted to say something, but he paused the moment his leather shoes touched the ground.
Clutching the hefty French dictionary, she stood facing the sea in the twilight, chin slightly raised, eyes squinting, taking deep breaths. Her delicate features were soon engulfed by a sense of fulfilling satisfaction. The sea breeze lifted the hem of her skirt, revealing her snow-white slender calf.
Breathing in the seaside air, Gu Qili felt it was an utmost luxury, as if every part of her, from her throat to her stomach to her limbs, was coming back to life.
Sensing an unusual aura behind her, she quickly turned around, and her gaze collided with his in mid-air. Within those deeply dark eyes flickered a sun-like emotion, elusive and difficult to comprehend, swiftly passing by. By the time she blinked again, he had reverted to his usual indifference, his pursed lips signalling his dissatisfaction.
Gu Qili hastily lowered her head and trod across the pebble-paved pathway towards him.
"You're going in just like that?" His dissatisfaction escalated, his gaze falling on the dictionary she hugged so tightly in her arms—something she never clung to him as earnestly, not letting go even for a moment.
Gu Qili had intended to put it in her backpack, but the dictionary was too thick and too large, and with her backpack already full, there was simply no room for it. Thus, she had carried it all the way, but bringing it inside would inevitably seem odd. She was at a loss for what to do when she saw him glance impatiently at the parking spot.
As if struck by sudden inspiration, she immediately ran and placed both the dictionary and the backpack on the back seat of the car.
Her now unburdened hands quickly found their new owner; he had already lifted his arm in waiting, his expression still indifferent.
Gu Qili sighed inwardly, curled her fingers, and carefully inserted her arm into his. Her other hand naturally followed suit, embracing his. The scent of tobacco and mint from him wafted over in threads and strands. Through his suit fabric, she could even feel the rhythm of his muscles.
Her cheeks flushed, she steeled herself and kept pace with him.
"Second Young Master, Sec... Second Young Mistress is back." The servant standing at the door had a noticeably awkward tone when speaking of her.
"Gu Qili." A voice rang out cheerily from the second floor, followed by a tall boy in a white sweater bounding down the stairs. His hair was still damp from a recent wash, tousled and fluffy, his slippers nearly flying off his feet from running too fast.
The boy strode energetically to them, his long legs easily bringing him to their presence. His smiley face instantly turned mouse-like upon seeing the man beside her, as he ducked his head and respectfully called out, "Second Brother."

After speaking, he immediately turned towards her, his gaze seemingly filled with long-held anticipation, not at all as serious as when facing his brother: "Gu Qili, why did you only just arrive?"
As Gu Qili was uncertain how to respond, he pointed to their interlocked arms and curled his lips, "You're already inside the house and still embracing?"
With that remark, Gu Qili instantly felt embarrassingly bashful. She tried to withdraw her hand but couldn't budge it. Looking up, she saw the man's still indifferent profile without any hint of yielding. Unable to figure out what he was thinking, she didn't bother to resist any further. Submissively maintaining that posture, she inwardly scoffed. In front of Mu Fan, there was no need for him to keep up the pretense.
