Chapter 250: A Good News

On their way back, Rory stared blankly out the window. The traffic was as she remembered, and it annoyed her. Living back in her homeland for that short time looked like it was a long time ago.

"You did good," Liam held her hand. He could see that she was disturbed.

"You think so?" Rory looked at him. She then sighed. "I am amazing. So, there is nothing surprising about that..." she leaned on the seat with a smile.

Liam chuckled and pinched her cheek. He loved seeing her in good spirits.

"Oww! That hurts," she slapped his hand away.

He was staring at her with horny eyes. Rory pointed at the lights. "It’s green. Move..."

She didn’t know what she did to turn him on this time. He is so simple. But having a simple man as a husband is better. Who would want someone who is hard to figure out? She wants a husband not a puzzle game!

The horns from the cars behind started blaring and Liam moved the car. Rory closed her eyes and leaned on the seat.

She recalled her interaction with Lennon. Her hands subconsciously ended up on her abdomen.

"I am late, aren’t I?" she asked.

She has a period tracker on her phone, but she trusted her husband more on this issue. That guy had incredible memory when it came to this. He had selfish reasons but that didn’t matter.

"Late?" Liam adjusted his sunglasses and looked at her. At first, he didn’t understand what she meant. They are not that late, and Ellie would be safe.

But then he saw her hands on her belly. His heart skipped a beat. "You are... six days if you count today... but your cycle’s been fluctuating a lot these past few months," he said.

Rory didn’t know what to say. That night when she got tipsy, she was sure that his condom broke, but she didn’t mind it. That must have been it. Or it could be nothing like he says.

She looked at Liam. He parked the car at the side of the road and held her hand. She got her hand out of his hold. But he pulled her hand and held it inside his hand.

"Cherry... do you think..." he smiled ear to ear and got closer to her face.

"What?" Rory leaned back.

"Are we pregnant?" he asked.

"No! Ellie is still young," she said. She didn’t know why she said that as an answer. There is no correlation between her possible pregnancy and Ellie’s age. She knew of some siblings with an age difference of a year.

Liam found it hard to curb his enthusiastic smile, but he turned to the front and started the car.

"You’re right," he said, his voice getting low.

Rory felt sad looking at him. He could see how excited he is to have another baby.

She stared out of the window placing her hand on her belly. It won’t be bad to be pregnant again. But the timing...

She decided to not think about that. She decided to test for pregnancy after a week.

"The party you mentioned earlier... Was it before or after the trial date?" Rory asked as she suddenly remembered it.

Liam mentioned a party invite from a senator from the opposition party. With many government officials getting exposed to the scandal of covering up for Lennon, the ruling party had lost the favor of the people.

Somehow, that made the opposition party think that they could be the spokesperson for the corruption of the ruling party. And they were contacted by many of the members of the opposition party.

But like the smart people they are, ever since the tide started to shift toward Lennon recently with all the hiccups, they stopped contacting them because Lennon was trying to implicate Liam.

Liam the hothead decided to not go to the party because those people are chameleons and are only looking for clout by using them.

But Rory wanted to make use of the old invite they got. Going there will give them an idea of what the upper echelons of society are thinking of them.

What she understood was that Gordon Faraday was taking care of everything at the request of her grandmother. But the recent hiccups made her realize that they were left alone while the people who support Lennon are given free rein.

She had a feeling that there is something going on behind the scenes. And they are not going to know what it was until they do the research themselves. They cannot trust anyone in this matter. Even Mrs. Delport is acting weird.

Liam scoffed at her. "Who is going to attend?"

"Networking, Fizzy," Rory patted his thigh. "You know how important it is to rub shoulders with the global elites. And we should know how Lennon is so confident."

She wriggled her brows. She knew he will understand.

Liam thought about it for some seconds before nodding his head. "It’s the evening before the trial."

Rory smiled and nodded. She knew her husband would listen to common sense.

------

Rory stared at the strip on the bathroom counter. She wanted to wait for a week before testing for pregnancy, but for an entire day, that was all she thought about. She decided to do the home pregnancy test and put her mind to rest knowing the results.

She didn’t want to be debating in her mind whether she should have alcohol at all in the party. It would be better if she knew for sure whether she is pregnant or not.

She didn’t know what to expect. Did she expect a pregnancy? She already has Ellie. She didn’t think that she could love another one as she loves that adorable child.

But when she thought of Liam... She could have one more. Just for his sake. Thinking of how excited he would be, made her smile.

She knew she had to wait for five minutes, but she could see the double line just within a minute.

She looked at the other strip. The result there was no different.

She is pregnant!

And like the sunlight slipping through thick clouds, she felt her doubts clearing up. As her hand ended up on her belly, her face bloomed to a happy smile.

I am pregnant!
