The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 186: His Christmas Present
Christmas arrived, and the festive atmosphere was particularly strong, with the streets all decorated with lights.
Holly Sawyer left home early in the morning, while Leo Grant was still asleep.
The weather outside was a bit cold, so Holly wrapped her coat tightly around her and buried her head into her scarf.
Hmm, the weather is really cold.
Leo had given her a Christmas surprise in advance, so naturally, she couldn’t fall behind, she had to prepare a surprise for Leo too.
Holly arrived at a DIY store and walked straight in; Leo didn’t lack anything, he had everything.
Boys didn’t seem too sensitive about gifts; Leo didn’t have anything he particularly loved, so Holly chose to make something herself.
Only something made with her own hands would be the most meaningful, Holly thought.
The store offered a lot of things one could make, and Holly hadn’t decided yet. She carefully scanned the list, feeling a bit indecisive.
"Are you thinking of making something for your boyfriend?"
The owner, a young woman, approached Holly and joked. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Most of the people coming to her store were couples, or groups of girlfriends. Those who came alone either wanted to make something for their boyfriend or their girlfriends.
Holly nodded, "Yes."
"Cakes, scented candles, all these are possible."
The store owner recommended a few things and slowly explained.
"Is it possible to sculpt here?"
Holly suddenly asked. She could make a sculpture for Leo, carving his likeness.
"Yes."
The store owner nodded and laid out the materials for Holly, giving her some guidance.
Holly began sculpting Leo’s likeness from the wood in her mind, her movements particularly gentle, with special attention to detail.
The entire morning passed quickly, and Holly had finished her sculpture of Leo. She carefully painted it, and soon, the lifelike Leo was completed.
Holly had been sitting all morning; her waist was a bit sore, and her hand somewhat fatigued, so she stretched.
After paying, Holly left with the packaged sculpture.
"Where did you go?"
When Holly returned home, Leo was in the living room watching financial news. Hearing the door open, he stood up immediately.
This little girl had left early in the morning, only telling him in a message that she had something to do, without any other information.
"Guess."
Holly playfully blinked and hid her hands behind her back.
"Went out to play again."
Leo lightly knocked on Holly’s head, speaking slowly.
Holly loved to play, so it was normal for her to often run out to have fun, something Leo was used to.
He never worried about Holly going out because she would always take the initiative to explain things to him, like roughly what time she’d be back.
He also didn’t mind that Holly went out for fun without him because his little girl had many friends, and he wasn’t her whole life.
"Not this time."
Holly blinked, her face full of smiles.
This time she didn’t go out to have fun but was occupied with a legitimate task.
"So what did my Holly do?"
Leo smiled softly, his gaze gentle as he looked at Holly.
"Surprise!"
Holly brought out the box from behind her and showed it to Leo, her smile growing.
"For me?"
The smile on Leo’s face deepened as he accepted the box from Holly, his face full of smiles.
He hadn’t even seen what it was yet, but he was already very happy because it was something Holly had given him.
As long as it was from Holly, he was happy for no reason.
"Brother, open it and take a look, your Christmas gift."
Holly stuck out her tongue and suddenly took out her phone, opened the camera, and started recording a video of Leo.
She wanted to capture Leo’s shock when he saw the gift, to collect all of Leo’s little emotions.
Leo opened the box, and inside was a miniature version of himself, intricately carved as if it were real.
"You carved this by hand?"
After the shock, Leo slowly raised his eyes to look at Holly.
"Yes."
Holly nodded.
"Does it hurt?"
Leo put the item on the table, reached out to hold Holly’s hand, and asked with concern.
It must have hurt, since the little girl went out early and only came back in the afternoon. It’s easy to imagine how much time it took.
Carving is a delicate task, and the tools are quite sharp. He was afraid the little girl might get hurt.
"It doesn’t hurt."
Holly shook her head. It was just carving, nothing too serious; she had done this kind of work before.
Her hands were a bit red, with some marks on them.
"Silly girl."
Leo gently tapped Holly’s head, feeling deeply concerned.
"Just having you by my side is enough; you don’t need to prepare surprises for me because you are my biggest surprise."
"Look, your hands are red. You don’t know how much it pains me to see you like this."
Leo gently massaged Holly’s hands, speaking with heartfelt emotion.
Receiving the gift was indeed a pleasant surprise, but thinking of the little girl’s reddened palms made him particularly distressed.
He just wanted to hold the little girl in his hands and take good care of her.
"Brother, love isn’t about taking; it’s about mutual giving. You surprise me with something, and I return a surprise to you. That’s how a relationship can last."
"I know you care about me, but I still had to give you this surprise."
Holly explained earnestly, gently biting her lip.
They had certain differences when it came to certain aspects.
Leo wanted to give her the best, making sure she could live a life where she needed to do nothing, with everything provided for her.
But Holly felt that if Leo gave her something, she should give something in return, not necessarily of equal value, but a gesture of reciprocation was important.
They were just a couple now; neither was obligated to support the other.
"Okay, I understand."
Leo nodded, a particularly gentle smile at the corner of his lips.
He understood Holly’s point.
His little girl was a very independent young lady.
"I really like the gift."
Leo looked at Holly with soft eyes, very surprised to receive this gift from her, this unique gift.
"I know you don’t lack for anything, brother, so I thought something handmade would be the most meaningful."
Holly playfully blinked, her voice tender.
Yes, Leo didn’t lack anything, so when she wanted to surprise him, she always thought about making it herself.
"Thank you for the Christmas gift, Holly."
Leo gently rubbed Holly’s head, so tender and doting.
He really liked it.
This was the most enjoyable Christmas he had in twenty-two years.
His life became colorful because of Holly.
The clock ticked on, and Christmas drew to a close.
