The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 229: Together
Nancy Miller and Noah Raines are together, and Noah Raines has been flaunting it in his social circle like a little show-off.
Holly Sawyer leaned against Leo Grant’s legs, playing with her phone. She came across Noah Raines’s updates and smiled slightly, then continued to scroll through the feed.
"Noah said he’s treating us to dinner. Are we going?"
Leo looked down at Holly, chuckling as he asked.
If anyone could get Noah Raines to find a partner, it would have to be Holly Sawyer.
"Sure, why wouldn’t we go?"
Holly yawned and said wearily.
Leo remarked, "It’s still cold outside."
"After all those meals he’s taken from you, it’s about time to get a good meal in return,"
Holly said slowly, her voice soft.
Noah Raines treating us to dinner is certainly a plan we can’t refuse.
Leo nodded, "Alright."
"Should I ask him to choose somewhere close to home?"
The days are busy, and it’s only in the evening that there’s enough free time. Leo was worried it might be too cold for Holly if it got late.
"Good idea."
Holly nodded. That’d definitely be the best.
Leo asked, "How about some karaoke at the KTV?"
Noah Raines asked in the group chat.
"Sure, it’s been ages since I last sang."
Holly nodded in agreement.
She hadn’t been to that kind of entertainment venue for a while, even though she used to be a regular at bars, KTVs, and clubs.
She had been to all the fun places.
"I’ve never heard Holly sing."
"That’s funny; I haven’t heard brother sing either."
"I bet Holly’s singing sounds angelic."
"I bet brother’s singing could make you fall head over heels."
They complimented each other for a while, sharing a knowing smile with eyes full of laughter.
"Brother, look at me. Do you think I like to have fun?"
Holly blinked her eyes seriously, questioning Leo.
"A lively girl like you must love having fun."
Leo lightly tapped Holly’s nose, amused.
"I’m not talking about that kind of fun,"
Holly shook her head slightly.
She meant not the kind of fun that kids naturally enjoy, but the kind of fun found in entertainment venues.
Pubs, KTVs, venues, trampolines...
All those places deemed ’bad’ she’s been to, but as she grew older, she gradually lost interest.
"Silly girl."
Leo pinched Holly’s cheek, teasingly.
No matter what kind of person Holly was, Leo liked her. It was Holly he liked, nothing else mattered.
——
Noah Raines arranged the dinner at a western restaurant not far downstairs, and Leo and Holly arrived last.
"Sis."
Nancy Miller saw Holly, and awkwardly lowered her head.
It felt oddly peculiar, and being in a relationship was peculiar too, just making her feel uncomfortable all over.
Holly only smiled without speaking.
"Ah, I’m the only single one here."
Nathaniel Shaw poured himself a drink, sighed deeply, and his tone revealed an intense sense of helplessness.
Both Leo and Noah Raines were paired, while he was still alone, which made him feel a bit melancholic.
"If you want, I can introduce someone."
Holly smiled slightly and said slowly.
She had plenty of single female friends around, so introductions wouldn’t be a huge issue.
"No, no, I’d rather not."
Nathaniel shook his head and said. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
The ones around Holly...
Better not.
He felt a bit intimidated.
"It feels like I’m not eating steak, but dog food."
Leo and Noah Raines were busy cutting steak for their girlfriends, then pushing the cut pieces towards Holly and Nancy Miller.
Nathaniel raised his eyes slowly, looked at the two couples in front of him, and casually let out a line.
Eating not steak, but dog food.
With five people, four paired off, one single, it was a real struggle.
"It’s quite appetizing."
Holly raised her eyes, casually tossed out a comment.
Even dog food wasn’t impossible to eat.
Nathaniel: "..."
He used to think Holly was soft and gentle, seeming like a well-behaved girl, but now it seemed quite the opposite.
Holly and Leo really made a perfect match; both had a certain depth beneath their surface.
"You guys go sing; I have work at the office."
After the steak, Nathaniel glanced at his phone and said slowly.
He had been very busy lately, his free time mostly around dinner hours, and otherwise spinning like a top.
Despite the exhausting work, Nathaniel had no complaints, because he loved his job.
Compared to his family’s business, he preferred doing what he enjoyed, as doing what you love brings happiness.
"Alright."
Leo nodded.
"What, embarrassed to hold hands?"
Holly turned her head to look at Nancy Miller and Noah Raines, who stood side by side, a small gap between them.
She teased Nancy Miller in a half-serious tone, and Nancy immediately blushed, lightly biting her lip, looking shy.
"Nancy’s just shy."
Noah glanced at Nancy Miller, but didn’t proceed further.
Nancy was shy by nature, and if he held her hand, she’d probably want to flee.
Nancy Miller bit her lip tightly, not saying a word.
Really feeling shy, her heart pounding rapidly.
"Oh, there’s a stage play that needs me; the mentor asked me to hurry over."
Nancy’s phone inconveniently rang just then, and after answering, her face fell.
Today had been planned tightly, well arranged, but she hadn’t expected such ill-timed news.
Nancy felt a bit troubled, apologetic that her plans were disrupted, but she couldn’t reject the stage play.
She’d been thinking for a long time that she wouldn’t get the chance, and had been waiting for this very call.
"Go ahead, singing can wait; it’s no big deal."
Holly lazily said, whether they sang or not didn’t matter, Nancy could do what she needed to do.
Holly didn’t have much interest in singing anyway.
Noah Raines drove Nancy over, while Leo held Holly’s hand, heading home.
It’s not far from home, they came on foot, so naturally they were walking back.
"Not interested in singing?"
Leo asked Holly softly.
"I just want to go home."
Holly shook her head, snuggling against Leo’s waist, burying her head into his chest.
Missing the warmth of home, longing for the soft couch, going home seemed better.
"However, I do want some pancake wraps."
Holly gently licked her lips and said slowly.
Just suddenly craving them, without any particular reason.
"Alright, I’ll take you to get some."
Leo softly rubbed Holly’s head, speaking warmly.
Whatever she wanted to eat, he’d happily accompany her.
