Chapter 58: Chopping Monsters. (2)

Suddenly, something burst into the cafeteria.

Jeremy went through the door. He had been thrown so hard that he had broken it.

The man’s heavy body crashed against the floor, causing him to let out a scream of pain. However, no one kept looking at Jeremy, but rather their gazes remained fixed on the hallway, the place from which he had been thrown.

Even the monsters that had just emerged from the crack had remained still.

Aku noticed it. The atmosphere became dense, and a large amount of azoth filtered into the cafeteria.

While the demon king gained advantage the greater the amount of azoth there was in the place, he also knew that the more azoth was released, the more powerful the creature he would have to face would be.

Footsteps were heard getting closer and closer, echoing in a tense silence.

"Shit, is no one going to help me?" Jeremy complained with annoyance.

Though just as he himself had said, no one deigned to look at him.

Not only because minutes ago he had made a scene in the cafeteria, but also because they were very attentive to the entrance.

A hoarse breathing was heard, like that of a tired animal.

Soon, a shadow extended into the cafeteria, followed by a man.

Well, he wasn’t exactly human, but he was anthropomorphic.

He looked like a mix between a man and a crocodile.

He had black scales covering his body and purple horns.

However, he also had black metal armor covering his body, and a custom helmet from which his horns protruded.

"Shatyu jeags," the creature pronounced in a language no one could understand.

Not even Aku, a demon king.

However, while Aku didn’t know that language, he did understand his opponent’s intention.

He could understand "very weak," or something like that.

"Tch, damn bastard! You’ll see now! I’ll kill you," Jeremy threatened as he summoned a pair of drones.

A kind of blue energy appeared in the air, transforming into two drones armed with turrets.

Both fired energy shots indiscriminately at the lizard man, but the energy bullets couldn’t pierce his skin and left him without a scratch.

The monster didn’t even have to move. The other monsters acted, launching themselves at the turrets and breaking them instantly.

"Shit! Is no one going to do any—"

But the man couldn’t continue.

The lizard man grabbed Jeremy by the neck and lifted him off the ground as if he weighed nothing.

"Kapesh lajir," the lizard commented with a dry, grave tone.

As before, only Aku could understand the intention of those words.

The lizard man seemed to be asking "Is that all?" Almost like a mockery, or perhaps as a genuine question, as if reproaching Jeremy for being so weak.

The others remained still. After all, that lizard man seemed to scare the other monsters.

Moreover, he had approached Jeremy in a single step, at a speed few could follow with their eyes.

Aku was a different case. He was just observing everything, analyzing whether his new enemy was dangerous.

At the same time, he was absorbing the azoth from the environment, since it would surely be very useful if he was going to face him.

"That’s enough, let him go!" the hero dressed as a samurai then ordered as he propelled himself forcefully toward the enemy and launched a powerful cut toward his elbow, seeking to cut the arm with which the monster was holding Jeremy.

However, unlike expected, it wasn’t the arm that was cut.

In fact, the samurai’s sword broke upon coming into contact with the lizard man’s armor.

The latter didn’t even deign to look at the samurai and moved his tail at full speed, hitting the samurai with it.

The blow was so strong that it not only broke the samurai’s armor but also his ribs.

The samurai went flying backward, crashing into the wall.

Apparently the lizard man’s strength was considerable.

"Tch, die," Jeremy said with difficulty at that moment as he aimed his arm at the man.

Suddenly, his arm glowed and was surrounded by mechanical armor ending in a cannon.

At that, the lizard didn’t react, as if it didn’t impress him at all.

Jeremy fired at that moment. A plasma shot fired with immense power at the lizard man, releasing a great explosion.

A cloud of steam spread from the firing location.

The lizard man released Jeremy, making him fall to the ground.

As soon as he was free, Jeremy quickly moved away from the lizard man, though with a smile.

"Ha! Take that, you deserve it," Jeremy exclaimed with a smile as he was covered by the same material as the cannon.

Now being inside a robotic armor.

Aku turned toward the heroes who remained alive and Claire.

"You take him," he said, pointing to the samurai. "And get away from here. Those who can fight, take care of the weaker monsters."

The heroes looked at Aku with doubt, but no one contradicted him, and they obeyed.

Meanwhile, Aku approached the lizard man.

He had received a quite ugly wound on his shoulder that had destroyed part of his armor and broken his scales.

However, Aku noticed the crocodile man was already healing, which wasn’t a good sign.

Apparently the reptile had some kind of regeneration.

"Hey you, don’t move. I’ll handle this," Jeremy said cheerfully as he stood up, now with futuristic armor protecting him.

It seemed that having damaged the reptile man had given him confidence.

Hearing those words, Aku stepped back. He didn’t want to contradict Jeremy. He knew he was an annoying type.

If it were up to the demon king, he would simply kill both of them. However, Aku knew that could reveal his identity, so it was better to let the lizard man kill Jeremy first, and then kill the lizard man.

Aku had read that heroes respect the honor of other warriors, and while the demon king wasn’t too sure what honor was, he could use that as an excuse if anyone asked him why he let a companion die.

"Now you’ll see, little lizard. I’m going to dest—"

Again, Jeremy was interrupted.

The lizard man had appeared in front of him in a blur of speed and had delivered a punch so strong it had shattered the armor’s helmet.

Apparently Aku would have to intervene sooner than expected.
