Chapter 57: Chopping Monsters. (1)

Space itself cracked behind the waitress, opening a fissure in reality itself.

"Wuaaaa," the woman screamed startled as she stepped back. "What the hell!?"

She cursed with confusion.

Though unlike her, Aku was very calm.

Something didn’t take long to emerge from the crack. A dark, viscous tentacle with a sharp tip.

The tentacle moved like a whip and tried to reach the waitress, but with a gesture, Aku made the tentacle twist unnaturally.

It seemed as if an invisible force was being exerted on the tentacle, but it wasn’t that Aku was using telekinesis. It was something different.

Since that crack expelled the essence of chaos (azoth) into the environment, Aku simply manipulated that azoth to make the tentacle twist.

It was a simple process for a demon king like him. In fact, the tentacle ended up exploding without Aku even having to exert himself.

"W-what’s happening?" Claire asked nervously. "Are we being attacked by demons? Did they manage to break through the barrier?"

The waitress asked, curiously giving Aku more information about what was happening.

"Something like that, I suppose," the demon king responded calmly as he stood up from the table.

He wasn’t the only one who had stood up. The heroes seated at the surrounding tables had also stood up.

Aku could hear some screams.

From a fissure had protruded a golden crab claw, which had separated the head from the neck of one of the heroes.

Apparently there were several places where monsters were appearing, though rather than something bad, Aku saw it as something good.

Each fissure released azoth into the environment, increasing the internal chaos of the room, something that undoubtedly benefited him.

More tentacles emerged from the fissure, moving frantically in an effort to destroy something, though Aku only needed a gesture to make them all explode.

"I see you’re handling yourself quite well," the fairy said as her body began emitting a greenish light. "Since I see you don’t need me, I’ll protect Claire. It’s the least I can do after she gave me such delicious food."

She affirmed as the light intensified until vanishing.

Sylvie had recovered her fairy form at that moment and flew quickly toward Claire.

"Sylvie? Is that you?" Claire asked with confusion.

The fairy nodded at that question.

"Yes, I’m a fairy after all," she affirmed. "Don’t worry, I’ll protect you."

The fairy announced confidently.

"Thank you so much! I’ll leave it in your hands," Claire responded, somewhat calmer now.

Meanwhile, Aku looked around.

Two of the seven heroes in the cafeteria had already died.

Some demons had also been defeated, but others were still out there, fighting against the heroes.

A giant phosphorescent green wasp with golden spots was fighting against a warrior in samurai attire.

Both were fast, but the samurai had better technique and ended up cutting the wasp.

Elsewhere, a young man with a staff seemed to be having trouble with a giant red frog.

It was pulling his staff with its tongue, exerting force to attract him to its mouth and eat him.

Both struggled, but in the end the frog exerted so much force that the staff broke in half.

Seeing that, Aku acted quickly.

From his subspace emerged a purple spear, which he threw with precision at the frog, piercing it.

The frog began croaking in pain with the spear embedded in its body.

But no matter how much it struggled, the spear didn’t come out.

Suddenly, the frog’s red skin began turning purple.

It was the spear’s poison starting to take effect.

The monster’s flesh began to rot, decomposing at an unnatural speed until becoming a mass of putrid flesh.

The young man being attacked by the frog looked at Aku gratefully.

"Thank you!" the young man exclaimed with gratitude, but in an instant his head went flying.

Aku looked at the scene with an indifferent expression.

Apparently a creature similar to the previous one had emerged from another crack, and it had used its tentacles to tear off the young man’s head.

Aku extended his arm toward the black tentacles, which had already claimed the life of a heroine, embedding themselves in her heart.

The demon king opened the palm of his hand, then closed it forcefully.

Upon doing so, the tentacles were crushed by an invisible force.

He had simply manipulated the azoth in the area to do it, though it undoubtedly looked impressive to others.

"Wow, he really seems very strong," Claire affirmed surprised, seeing the ease with which he killed demons.

Sylvie, who was flying around her, looked at her skeptically.

The fairy had created an air barrier around her to prevent any beast from approaching.

She didn’t seem surprised by what she saw. After all, Aku was a demon king. He had a huge advantage over those demons.

Besides, she knew how powerful Aku had been.

He had defeated Alexander after all.

Compared to that, killing a demon wasn’t a big deal.

"It’s natural. He’s a hero after all," Sylvie grumbled, annoyed that Aku was receiving compliments.

After all, Sylvie hated Aku with all her being.

But of course, Claire didn’t know that.

"Still, he seems to be much stronger than the other heroes," the woman answered.

It was true. In fact, it was obvious.

After all, unlike the others who were heroes who had been defeated by the demon king.

He was a demon king who had defeated a hero.

It was obvious he would be stronger.

Something evident that the other heroes also seemed to notice, which made them feel calmer.

"Mmm, looks like they keep coming out," Aku commented seriously as he observed the cracks from which more monsters were emerging.

He had already defeated all the monsters that had entered the cafeteria, but apparently there were still more.

Then the door burst open, or rather something went through it.

"Wuaaaaaa! Shit!" a voice shouted as it hit several tables and slid across the floor until crashing into the corpse of one of the monsters. "Shit, that bastard is strong."

The one who had arrived was Jeremy. However, no one paid attention to him.

Instead, everyone kept staring at the door, or at least where there had been a door before.

Something dangerous was approaching.
